Mind Game can slightly alter how you view life as a whole. Easily in my top 50 movies of all-time, and I've seen over 2K.

Ooh Millennium Actress is fantastic as well, but I think Mind Game edges it out.

I'll take that over this

Well, this has the artist on the cover, the name of the artist, and the name of the album. It also doesn't scream Hipster.

Is that what's really gettin' up everyone's butt about Vince Staples cover? That it looks "hipster"?

I'm gunna go back away from my computer now.

Yes clearly we are all whipped into an uncontrollable rage over it, judging by the endless pages of debate and anguish. Fuck outta here with that shit.

There's this new trend of posting an old picture from your childhood with the Parental Advisory sticker on it, without a title. It probably came from Lil' Wayne's Carter III or something, but I noticed that a lot of people have started doing it recently. Like Knxwledge and Frankenstein.

Anyway, gonna check this out

influence of tumblr.

Sometimes I forget just how good ATLiens is.

Haven't smoked in about 6 weeks because of exams and being home for break. So I go to my boy's house and he cops a bit and breaks out the Roor. Ripped that shit waaaaaaaaaay harder than you should when you haven't smoked anything in a while.

Dude put the vinyl on and we were playing 2K12. At some point I started balling on autopilot and just got totally absorbed in the music, I was that high. Shit was cash.

I hated the album when it first dropped, it was so different to southernplaya that I was incredibly disappointed. It took years to appreciate it but I still find myself mostly only enjoying it in certain circumstances, I can't just throw it on at any time. But if I'm the right mind state it sounds like a classic to me.

I will agree that mononoke was better. First time watching that movie was like "godddddamn!"

Akira is garbage, overrated bullshit hyped up by nerds watching a japanese anime for the first time. It makes no sense, is poorly paced, and worst of all is just plain boring.

Akira has style, spirited away is shojo nonsense and bullshit spirits taking baths. Drooling level boredom.

But then again i'm a Ghost in the Shell stan, what do i know?

Know what's worse than Dr. Dre's detox tracks? Real detox.

I'm kicking all opiates from my diet. Percocet, syrup, vikes, etc. I get em (mostly) from my doctor, but it's been 5 years (daily) and I'm over it.

This is my first full clean 24 hours and it hurts like a bitch. Even with the blunts. Wish me well GAF HOP.

This shit sucks.
damn, I wish the best of luck to you man. I'm sure you can pull through with it.

Akira and Ghost in the Shell(The movie) are the most disappointing anime movies I've ever watched. I always saw praise for story and other stuff(well akira mostly), but the only redeeming qualities I thought both had were animation. Though, i do love the ghost in the shell tv show. I don't like 90% of studio ghilbi movies though, just can't get through most of them without being bored as hell.

Monoke and Nausicaa are the best Miyazaki movies and the only ones I actually care about. I was probably a hippy in a past life.

Akira is the shit though

NO! I think it's Satashi's third best work.

Coming out time: It's the only movie of his that I've seen all the way through, lol. After, that I've seen bits of Millenium Actress, and Tokyo Godfather's. Not that I didn't like them, just that it was in a group thing, and incredibly informal.

Mind game was fun, and did reach the rarely reached line of being transparent in its intent without sacrificing all intellectual intrigue, but I just found Paprika to be the more enjoyable film by the end of it.

Co-sign. All that I've seen of Ghibli has done nothing for me. I just can't get the appeal.

Ghost in the shell is another one of those nonsensical bullshit anime movies that just plain suck. It and Akira is everything that is wrong with anime. Spirited Away makes up for the standard anime shortcomings by being visually stunning.

On a different note, I'm rewatching Aliens right now for the first time in over a decade. Cameron is a fucking hack but I love this movie.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's nonsensical bullshit...maybe the 2nd one but the first one makes sense (maybe watch the show first)

Ghost in the Shell movie is ass. Fantastic animation and all that, but every else is ass. The plot is garbage whether it's understandable or not. The show is much better though.

Kind of funny you mentioned Aliens though siddx, i shit you not dude, just about 5 mins ago I was thinking of watchin the first two movies back to back.

Edit: Maybe I'll let up on Ghost in the Shell a bit, because i do love the settings and all of that, but seriously it's definitely one of those movies that's praised for visuals way much more than story and that's for a good reason.

Not even Kiki's Delivery Service?

Haven't actually seen that one. It's actually been rec'd to me as one I may like too, but I just drag when it comes to watching Ghibli films now. Everything other than the movie seems more important in that moment kind of deal, lol.

The whole "you just didn't understand it" line is lame bullshit used to excuse piss poor story telling. It doesn't make sense because it's a shit movie.
But in an effort to avoid turning this into the anime thread, because we definitely don't need another one of those goddamn things, I will shut the fuck up about it now.

I will however say before I stfu, that Akira and Ghost were the first two anime films I had ever seen and initially I loved both to death and pimped them to everyone I knew. It wasn't until I rewatched them way later that I realized what a load of shit both were.

I think Char's Counterattack was my first, been too long. I got an uncle who is like a huge fan of that ghost in the shell shit, it's like the only anime he watches, so i kind of love shittin on the stuff from time to time.

It was actually my first ever Ghibli film. You should try it out. Maybe it's my nostalgia talking, but I know I liked it. :lol

No, I agree there are some things that actually don't make any sense and are just nonsense BS but GiTS isn't one of those things

:). Seriously though, I've messed around with a few shitty Akai machines, this thing feels a lot more sensitive and the pads are great. What sealed the purchase besides all the good word of mouth was playing around with one at a guitar center. Now i just have to learn the software. It is all a bit overwhelming.

You're gonna be sampling right? Granted I'm not like, some sample expert or anything but my advice/tip, is don't get too caught up in the overall sound of a track. You want to focus on just, the little things. The little bursts of sound and then build your own atmosphere from there. Learn to pick out instruments etc. You can flip the most happiest shit into some killyourself shit easily if you go at it right.

Thanks for the advice. And yeah, Im going to be sampling, but also doing my own shit too. What a lot of gaf doesnt know is i was in Band for about 6 years, playing 1st chair French Horn until i got too cool for it in 10th grade. Dumbest decision ever, i could of got a scholarship for that shit. But what Im saying is yes, i will be sampling with a mix of some midi piano/guitar work.

Close enough. I'm trying to just smoke spliffs and be the guy who strums the same guitar note for the whole song. We still need a singer and someone who can play ska - reggae fusion on the bass.
