You can Pre-Order Weekend at Burnie's Here

Gonna do that. Covert Coup was amazing. Spitta is one of the hardest workers at the moment.
Man dude IS the hardest rapper working at the moment. He has like what? 3 albums planned this year and the unexpected mixtapes he drops sometimes. Not to long ago I felt discouraged as hell to get into dude's music, because of so much stuff he put out.

Lets hear it Gaf, more songs made to annoy other people as you drive by. I need to keep filling out of playlist.
yo Siddix, I'm not really sure if what rap artist you like or whatever, so I'll just throw a list together

Luniz - I got five on it
Travis Barker - Just Chill
Travis Barker - Let's go
Kendrick Lamar - P&P
Nipsey Hussle - 7 Days a week
Freddie Gibbs - Boxframe Cadillac
Method Man - Sub Crazy
Ludacris ft Twista - Freaky Thangs
Z-ro - 1 night
Z-ro - From The South
Big Krit - Made Alot
Webbie & Lil Phat - Racks
Webbie & Lil Phat - You Bitch
UGK - Everybody Wanna Ball

I'll probably add some later just gotta go through my music.

^i will never understand business decisions like that.

so, GAF-Hop, rap labels to never get signed to, in order:

1) Jive
2) Def Jam
3) ???

i know there's tons of horror stories about, trying to remember some. when i was all into blackstar stuff, Rawkus sounded troubling.

No major label is good, those labels are not there to "make dreams happen", they are there to make money...........obviously.

Stay independent if you want to make your own decisions and use the internet to build hype for yourself, or go to a small label and get no exposure due to them not having any influence with any other companies.

Wrong.

1)Jive
2)Interscope
3)Def Jam
4)Atlantic

Honestly though, you don't want to be signed by a label period. Not in this day and age. License your shit for distribution. Don't make them own publishing because it can only end badly.

While we're shitting on labels, I would never associate with Bad Boy or Puffy in any way. It seems like you will end up dead, doing hard time in prison, or just non existent in the world of music.

1. Aftermath. You'll never drop an album....ever.
2. Shady. See above
3. G Unit. ^

<<< all

Record labels are becoming very obsolete these days. If people can kick off their own revenue and hype stream off the internet, why pay LA Reid or Jimmy Iovine? The cream's gonna rise to the top. There's never been an instance in hip hop where it hasn't. All a label can do is make an average rapper an average rapper with expensive beats, hooks and features.

Janelle Monae is doing decent. She could be doing better.

Speaking of the wonderful Ms. Monae, it still surprises me to this day that she's signed to Diddy's label; her style doesn't match his style at all -- she's like Wale in MMG.

Yeah it's so rare to see a hip-hop artist stick to a concept centered around money, dreams, bitches, and success bringing unhappiness...I really wish guys like Drake, Wiz, Mac Miller, and Kanye would talk about it more

What?

Oh.

Nvm. Looked at the lyrics. My imagination gave him more credit than he deserved.

But not because of what you're saying. That shitty materialistic stuff is fine with me, if its done well. Quite frankly. I like swag.

Swag.

Apparently I missed a bit debate over Flocka. Toku has never led me astray, but I can't possibly imagine Flocka's album is good. I'll acquire it and give it a shot

I will enjoy your reaction to it, please return soon with your opinions.

People who say Hodgy Beats > Tyler the Creator just do it to be contrarian. I've suspected it for a while, but after more listening I'm sure of it. It's impossible to genuinely form that opinion.

Well Mellowhype > Tyler, but not Hodgy alone.

Plus after getting more into literature and reading a lot more poetry, I don't really buy the 'rap music is poetry' argument any more.
I found this to be an interesting post. What do you guys think about it?

I didn't even realize there was an argument going on, but I can see why some people might want there to be, especially if they only listen to the radio.
