The reason GhostFace beats are garbage as of late is because DefJam don't want to clear(Basically pay) most of the samples they use on the beats he likes.

...is this a known thing? that would explain so much, especially to my disappointment in Ghostdini or whatever the last shit was. anyway, if it is...what's Nas' excuse?
need more info on Liquid Swords 2!

yup, is been like this since the early 2k's. It has gotten worse over the years. If you sample something from their back catalog, they may pay for it, but if not, good luck. And the thing is, is not that much money to pay for samples(Unless it says Beatles on it)And the thing with Nas is the same deal when it comes to beats and other things as well. Mos Def is a good example of this. But at least he rather let his album get canned then release some BS.

The G.O.O.D. Music cypher was dope.

Royce killed it too, Yelawolf was alright. There was some other shit that was good, can't remember right now.

The rest of the Cyphers on a stream, as well as the performances.

Cypher #3: OMG, Doughboy, Ice Cube, Diggy, JoJo & Rev Run
Cypher #4: Reek Da Villian, Zawcain & Mickey Factz
G.O.O.D Music cypher that featured Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean, CyHi Da Prynce and Common

& Damn J. Cole performed Who Dat? That's insane, and damn good to hear he's getting exposure.
My goodness, CyHi is hot garbage.

so I think that Kno's album dropping today would be the most prolific new release,

but I really wanna give a heads up on something I have really been looking forward to that I hope doesnt get slept on:

new El Da Sense album; GT2 Nu World

sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwMHOpt7jcI

if u dont kno who EDS is, he was a member of The Artifacts along with Tame One in the nineties, who together dropped two classic albums before breaking up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKzfDxj5hBA

I think underground rap fans may have heard of Tame One before?? either thru his afilliation with the Weathermen Crew or the album he did with Del last year.

but I havent really been impressed with Tame's solo career...

EDS on the other hand I consider to be a staple of emcee that I can always depend on to never fail to impress me, similar to a Masta Ace or a One Be Lo.

I posted a couple of EDS stuff a while back(His euro stuff)props on posting this, didn't know about this project. BTW, that KNO joint is pure fuego, calm fuego.

And what is stopping him from getting them cleared himself?

This is true.
I also have a feeling Pusha wrote Big Sean's verse.
That wouldn't shock me.

I dunno why Kanye is signing these scrub rappers. He shouldn't waste time with dudes who can barely out spit him.

Common + Mighty Mos are all he needs right now. Imagine those three on collabing on an album. Shheeeeeit.

The sad thing is that RZA is too far in outer space, to recreate the magic of Ironman or Supreme Clientele.

Come back to Earth, Bobby. The world needs you!

I wouldn't call them scrub rappers, but the truth is that Common and Mos would demand more $$$. New, younger rappers won't demand nearly that same. Plus I don't think their egos would allow them to be on Kanye's label. All of this is a business at the end of the day.

I don't think I'd go as far as to call CyHi "hot garbage." I really like his verse on So Apalled and his verse in the Cypher wasn't that bad.

Sometimes I wonder if Rae can really make a mean baked ziti.

EDIT: Yet again all of the prerecorded "cyphers" are better than any of the live performances.

True but at the same time multiple producers want to work with him. Bummy rappers get 9th Wonder, Madlib, Oh No, Jake One, Khalil, Alchemist, etc beats all the damn time. Yet Ghost sticks with mixtape producers and used beats. Hell, I'd imagine RZA would give him free beats.

DL LINK

This was posted a while back, but I just got around to listening to it and I just had to say ITS FUCKING FANTASTIC. DL this NOW. Production is ridiculously good, right up my alley. And J.Lately is a very good emcee. Highly recommended.

Something a little different. A live band crew. I'd kind of describe em as a little more commercial version of the roots. This album is hit and miss but the hits hit hard.

http://www.djbooth.net/index/mixtapes/entry/saheed-take-heed-ep/

Sometimes comes across as one of those "throw everything I can at you as fast as I can and hope it sticks" type of rapper. But he is undeniably dope and his production is pretty dope too.

More or less your standard hip hop, but its done very very well.

Short but sweet. 8 tracks, all great.

If you want some out of this world alternative type hip hop. Production is trippy and chill, and Stanza is dope as hell.

This is...kinda odd, but also has some great stuff. Jesse Abraham is painfully white, in the same way Asher Roth is. But he is a good rapper and the production ranges from fantastic to competent. Very listenable, just put it on in the background.

Pretty much what I'm saying is bookmark djbooth.net

Wow, this guy is pretty good.

yeah not bad right? I knew Christian rappers existed, I just didn't expect them to be any good. He's pretty good though. I've noticed that soooo many rappers praise God outside of their music ( can't figure out why though as I'm sure God wouldn't approve of their lyrics too much ) , but Lecrae does it IN his music so at least I know he really means it when he thanks God for his success.

I picked up his new album, Rehab, yesterday, and I don't regret it at all. Great stuff.

Death is Silent is amazing.

- The beats are on another level
- A cohesive concept
- Great rhymes.

Is this real life?

I seriously can't stop listening to it. Add "Perfect Length" to your bullet points as well. The second the outro beat is finished I want to jump back to the intro and start all over. Amazing album.

Aiight, so all the Cage talk that happened a few pages back inspired me to check out his first two albums proper. People introduced me to him years ago when Hell's Winter dropped, but I dismissed him due to criticisms of him sounding like Em - just seemed to be too much of that going on at the time. Plus, the Def Jux appearances I heard him on never impressed me - his voice annoyed the piss out of me.

Damn, that was ignorant.

GODDAMN I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS. 'Agent Orange' plays in my sleep! I'm obsessed with Cage right now. This is becoming one of my favorite albums ever. 'Hell's Winter' is dope as fuck too, BUT I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO 'MOVIES FOR THE BLIND'. AHHHH this shit is sick.

Just because you rap about something doesn't mean it's true. For example, look at 50 Cent. He raps about drugs, alcohol and murder - and he doesn't actually do any of them. He's a very health-conscious person. A majority of rap is a falsified account of someone's past life as a "gangster". Another great example would be Rick Ross. Not only was he not a drug kingpin in Miami, he was a correctional officer.

Yep haha. I don't care TOO much for Hell's Winter but Movies For The Blind was my shit. "Among The Sleep" is one of my favorite tracks.

Make sure you stay the fuck away from Depart From Me. It's horrible.

I have a lot of catching up to do in the mixtape and album scene.
/sigh.

Also, LOL at Flocka's performance. Dude was performing like he was in da club or something. And that deep ATL accent. "LEHGO, SHAWTY, LEHGO!"

RZA would never give him free beats. Especially after Ghostface SUED RZA for not paying him enough.

I doubt RZA will ever produce for solely Ghostface again.

It's weird you'd bring up all those producers... because they have worked with Ghost. They worked with Ghost to put out a ton of free music too. Whereas, for Ghost's past couple of albums, he uses no names that Def Jam is trying to hire because he just doesn't give a fuck.

Regardless, his beat selection is still pretty good and Ghostdini definitely had some gems.

One he's off Def Jam (I thought he was? I guess not), then we'll see what he puts out. I'll expect huge things. Also, Swift and Changable might actually come out...
