Their best album, IMO. Silenced any haters that said that they were just "Emo-Rap".

Haha, that's probably my least favourite Atmosphere album.

Kanye's acapellas are crazy. Mama's Boyfriend is sick. Anyone remember this? From the Omen dude who confirmed the tracklist:
So the “Internets” are saying this is Donda’s Monster’s tracklisting for his forthcoming LP, tentatively titled Good Ass Job. I actually happen to know not all of this is accurate and features are missing. However I will confirm that is 16 tracks with no interludes/skits. That’s My Bitch and Power (obviously) are there but Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem and Drake are on this album. I can’t say which but I can say 3 of those names are on one track.

Leaked tracklists with features on the tracks are fakes. But most of them are putting Jay-Z and Eminem on Chain Heavy. Acapellas are one thing, but getting Em over a Ye production would create something of astronomical quality.

I've taken GAF's advice (don't think that ended well last time, re: OB4CLII) and listened to some stuff that's been making rounds with you guys earlier like How I Got Over, Teflon Don, and TSOL, and will post some impressions after I listen a bit more.

This is the first track I sat down and listened to when I discovered him:

The Tugboat Complex

still think you're focusing on one element/time of backpacker rap, but regardless...that link was better than what ive usually heard from aesop, open to more of that quality.

New Madlib gets me hyped, off to check out Wale links. that shyne shit....yeah, uh, ok.

Maybe. But I’m off that.

‘The Explanation’

This is just an 08’ guest spot, but it’s markedly different from the track you just listened to regarding Aes’ approach – his bars are within rhythm damn near flawlessly. His flow has become more traditional nowadays and a lot of peeps like him better for it. I know a lot of people hate the poetic enjambment that characterized his earlier style.

‘Fishtales’

Aesop Rock produced this track. This bears repeating – Aesop Rock produced this track. Production on this is disgusting. Turn your bass up. Also an 08’ release, it showcases his ability to ride a beat . He also flexes his storytelling capabilities – the best I’ve heard in the game IMO. The quirky humor and humility that emits from Aesop is refreshing. It comes through in his music and live performances.
Here’s him performing it live:

‘Catch 22 (Aesop Rock Remix)’

This shit here, is sublime. Produced by Aes. Ill lyricism and soundscape with a campfire story vibe.

A few live performance freestyles I love:

I’ll post more songs at a later time. Took me 90 minutes to make this post cuz’ my mac was acting up.

The voice is fine, is the beat what's fucking thrash! There's no build up at all, the Biggy sample stays on for to long, this song has two hooks for no reason. The worst mixing job ever..

I'm sure a quality studios and engineers are hard to come by in Guyana (or Belize or Ghana or wherever the fuck Shyne is at now) fam. :lol

Remember when Ghostface and Doom were gonna drop an album together? It was supposed to drop as far back as summer 07? Yea, me too.

Why not? Dude is a legend and you should support him. I would go if I wasn't a hundred thousand miles away. I bet there will be half of Htown on stage.

I probably will go. I have never seen a UGK show. I'll get a balcony ticket and enjoy the show. I just hope it isn't Bun with 36 of his homeboys on stage with 14 of them having mics.

The funny thing about that DoomStarks project is that it was almost done, but scheduling and touring for both artist got in the way big time. Ghostface is still down and so is DOOM. Ghostface has stated that once OB4CL II, Ghostdeni and Wu-Masscare was out of the way(And no scheduling conflicts)he would love to finish the album. It all comes down to DOOM now, homeboy is busy doing his new project. I know DOOM and Ghostface already used some beats from that project, hopefully whenever they have time to do this, we get some freash beats.

Wohooo love STS..but I have to say this is getting ridiculous, listened to the LE$ tape today and it's incredible. It's like they gave up making money and just release free music..No DJ, original production, I really want to buy records from them but It seems they don't want my hard earned euros..:lol

Sorry, man. I never liked Aesop and never will. His voice, lyrics and beat selection get on my nerves.

I was mostly referring to Irish, since he was kind of asking. But you really don't find any of the beats in that post appealing? Did you listen to them? I can (somewhat) understand not liking Aesop, but I find his beat choice superb. Particularly in the latter portion of his career.

I think I'm just gonna lurk this thread. Most seem stuck in their lanes regarding what they like, so it doesn't seem like I have much, if anything, to add to it.

I have no problems with that tag, BTW.

Aw, don't be like that. There are plenty of people finding new stuff in this and the old thread. Somebody is bound to like Aesop Rock.

And truthfully, I only clicked the first song. I didn't make it all the way through. To be fair, when I'm not at work, I'll check it out.

I like Aesop dude, though I can only handle him in segments...That song from the definitive jux album you posted is undeniably ill though. I have to say if it weren't for Aesop Rock I wouldn't have found Grouch & Eligh whom I've grown to love.

Nice. Greydon Square is a pretty talented rapper in general despite usually only rapping about one subject most don't find too appealing.

Since I haven't weighed in about Aesop, I'll say I'm a fan, but I just can't listen to his albums in length, just in pieces every once and a while. The flow, his voice, and beats are unique, and I can't listen to him for hours on end like I can other artists, but he does make great tracks and have good beats. One of my favorite songs is Dark Heart News, and I'm glad you posted that piece from The Gigantics, Kimo; post not wasted.

I used to love Seven's Travel the most as thats what got me into him but lately (the last two years or so) I've been holding up Lucy Ford as his best. God Loves Ugly is tied with it.

I don't remember much of the 1st but I liked the second. Didn't even know about the "hype" surrounding them so I guess that helped.

I love Buck's verse on this.

Well, people interested in southern rap were pretty excited to hear that he was to release a solo album. But yeah when I think about it the mainstream kinda ignored him back then and people looked at you strange when you talked about him being on of the greats who made Jay revisit the studio to not be embarrassed and outshined on his own track

btw found this when searching for big pimping, awesome track better video from a underrated album:

Dipset (Santana's Town)

btw: there was a new Cole tape on mixtapetorrents but haven't heard it yet, maybe it's just old stuff oh and a best of krit and a new gotti and trae as well. Too bad my car stereo is broken..
