^yeah that middle pic sums up my feelings

Basically I don't want this to be some indie MBDTF type record. Keep it simple, throw in some cool features. Lots of bangers. Call it a day.

yeah, i wasn't with the stormy/etc crew on not wanting another quality RTJ (i love the solo joints but that's not where they're at right now), but this is a valid fear. honestly if i like 3 nearly as much as 2 ill be all over it

Some of those skits on Pinata bring down the album replay value just a little bit.

Thats why you delete the skits

General rule for all albums.

yeah...i take it on a per album basis but most skits get shitcanned, helps the project overall

(cornball)

for real, you ain't even like pinata?

Couple of tracks in and I figured out why I was meh about the album. It's his voice. Dude is a nice rapper, but he sounds monotone as hell on the album. Shitsville knocks though.

as someone who ranks Guru somewhere around my top 10 i can't abide this

After a revisit to Pinata', it's safe to say that the hype for the album was real and I was sleeping on this album because of other albums in my rotation. Reminds me of the first time listening to J-Live All of the Above album. At first I was like ugh it's ok...but as time progress it became of my favorite albums of all time. No lie, the first few tracks didn't draw me in but during the middle of the album...shit started making sense. The skits threw me off a bit, but I had to remind myself that it was still a Madlib album.

Overall, yall were right on the dogpile and I'm gradually take my L.

However, Jay Rock is still the better rapper when it comes down to gangsta shit.

Anywho, back to the listening session.
Yeah Jay Rock has crazy range huh.

I always love Irish multi quote, one of the biggest Staples in the thread along with the good old PD racial rant and Toku anime gif response.

Moving right along with the BCC retread is Black Moon's War Zone.

I've always thought this was the best album from the BCC sophomores and it still holds up very nicely today. The production is handled entirely by the Beatminerz (wouldn't make sense if it didn't considering Evil Dee), and I can't help but think the second wave of BCC albums would've been better recieved if they followed suit. Buckshot maintains his "b-boy with a chip on his shoulder" style throughout the album, but it never gets monotonous. Biggest surprise on the album though is 5FT stepping up his game since Enta Da Stage to the point where he sounds right at home with MOP and Teflon on "Annihilation." 19 songs on here and there's very little to complain about with "Weight of The World" and "Showdown" being the only weak tracks, but they're in no way bad, just simply not as good as the rest. My only other gripe would be for some strange reason, they removed Rock's hook from the title track "War Zone", replaced it radio skits, and then used it for the Outro. Weird.

Still, this manages to be a great album that a lot of people tend to overlook. 8.5/10.
Might be a 9 depending on how the wind blows.

Might be better than Enta Da Stage too but you didn't hear that from me.

Pinata is great as a whole, but I can't listen to any of the songs individually.

Irish don't hurt em
