Making my way through the recommendations. Wolfe is really good. Not a fan of the first track on the album, but when she gets to singing and not trying to rock out, I'm digging it so far. Pratt is so far pretty damn close to what I'm looking for.

The farther back you go with Wolfe the less of the Doom/1st Wave Black Metal stuff will be there. Always in the background but Abyss is pretty heavy at times.

I know you have almost too many recommendations to go through now, but if you ever want an older list of stuff you might have missed over the years check this post I made a long time ago:

Sweet. So, if you had to pick an album, which one is the least rocky?

Unknown Rooms is all acoustic. Apokalypsis has more rock to it but not like Abyss. Pain is Beauty has a bit more electronic production in it. I think they are all great but that would be the general breakdown.

I'm saying. Des got recommendations for years. I don't like anything like Des likes music. Purity Ring and Ugly Heroes are two of my favs of all time and both came from him.

Thanks, I'll YouTube around a bit on Unknown Rooms.

As a side note, PINS played randomly after some track and they seem pretty interesting. Vaguely early aughts sounding alt rock.

See, I could've saved myself a lot of effort. I didn't think anybody around here would know Merchant or DiFranco. They're pretty old and weren't the most popular acts of their day. I'm looking exactly for a 2015 Ani. Angry, sad, guitar ballad. I got stuff to listen to for days either way. Cheers.

Tempted to say Mudface is Redman's best solo album/tape/whatever since Doc's Da Name 2000/Malpractice days. The only thing it's missing are those electronic-funk bassline/guitar heavy Erick Sermon beats. It's still Redman, but it leans on the hard/hype tracks without the darker, hazy side to balance it out. Like, imagine Redman on some Doppelgangaz production jesus christ

If you have room in your heart for a 2015 take on a certain breed of late 90s/early 2000s music, check this out. My favorite track is probably Gettin Inside. Also can't help but feel like Let It Go would've been a big single in that DMX/Ludacris/Diplomats era.

just realized that we got a new Missy track produced by Pharrell, and then a new Pusha T track that was produced by Timbaland. dat switch of producers

This Gibbs is PRESENT and IMMEDIATE.

Skyrocketing through my top 10, but who knows I'm riding that first listen high.

A long hot summer is corny af tho

Nah, that album is quality but I'll admit I haven't listened to it in a while.

Well, it was recently reissued and got ripped again so I'm giving it another spin.

Ace still got it but some of these beats...

Take Da Grind for example. The sample is decent enough for an everyman/reflective track but man the drums...those signature early 2000s Justus League/Fruity Loop drums that weren't hitting on shit. 11 years later, some of those beats just don't cut it anymore.

And shortly after that, you've got some seriously middling beats including the worst DR Period track I've ever heard in my life.

It's not all bad though, tracks like Soda & Soap and Do It Man still hold up, and Big City still remains one of the best grand entrances to an album.

Basketball Wives is so wavy though. It's actually the track that's stuck in my the most so far (along with Careless). Very MCH. The weakest tracks imo are the middle 3- Mexico, Packages, and 10 Times- but that's more for them aping other artists/regions sounds wholesale than being bad tracks.

Just hit Basketball Wives on the Gibbs. This could be my favourite track here, damn.

I can't get jiggy with it. It's not BAD but I wouldn't at all miss it if it was left out. Love how he flipped Careless though.

Packages is beautiful ignorance but it is straight up Future/Thug, and 10 Times does sound more like E-40 featuring Gucci and Gibbs. Still great though.

So what does hop gaf think of the new missy elliot track/video?
Great diss/pop track. Perfect timing for the holidays. Pharells production was on point, having his verse over one particular beat.
Tongue reference miley
Pharells - joke on him being nublack
Overall, do it where they from is getting at people doing their own thing rather this influx of pop rappers.

Also hello all.

It's a very particular sound that flies in the face of the harder music on the album so I get it. For me though, him doing tracks that like (and succeeding at them) only makes the album stronger. Melodic Gibbs is life.

aw man this gibbs album is all over the place. i cant give it more than about 5 or 5.5. it really feel like he just dropped this to not let 2015 go by without him putting his bid in. Bball Wives, Fuckin Count and Extradite are pretty tight.
