I am a bit of out of the cool crowd but I do know a lot of people who listen to hip hop. I never knew mdma was called molly until gold everything. Now the phrase is everywhere and I do not doubt some simple headed fools have added its use to their lexicon of drug vice.... But ecstasy is an old school party scene drug. Hip Hop is like always stealing another scenes habits and passing it off as its own.

Yeah theres been mentions but not like this, nor was there a catchphrase for it before besides X. Its like drank. A long time drug in a hip hop subculture that was known more in the southern region (and to southern hip hop heads) and a key part of texan Hip Hop but around 2004 -2005 became a common phrase nationally and now all hip hop heads get the reference and it became more widespread as knucleheads tried it out.

Yeah X existed but a few years ago when Ja ans Irv Gotti got caught with it and viagra it was frowned upon as being wack cause it was associated with party/gay culture (not saying ja and irv werent just corny besides that). Now I hear Molly so much you would thin k it was slang for becky's.

I'm fine with drug references. The molly shit is okay with me, but rapping about date raping women is wreckless. Cam'ron was rapping about it back in the CoF / SDE days, but he never made it seem like cool shit to do.

Its not the drug, its the behavior. Alcohol in and of itself is probably the most popular 'date rape drugs' of all time, and rappers have been writing about liquoring chicks up and doing some grimey shit to them since the beginning.

I don't mind the rapping about the drugs tbh. But how they are rapping about it is what bothers me more. Personally I think it is a bit of a problem when they rap about in a song as if it's cool or some shit.

PD memtioned that Weeknd song and part of why I like that song so much is because of the creepy vibe it has instead of coming off as glorifying it
