loool, is that the perception of the sport by the less enthused in the US? FWIW, Football has historically always been a sport for the lower class (like basketball, I guess?). In the UK especially (Rugby players are typically posh as anything, which may surprise you). Many Brazilian players came up in favelas too, never mind your typical African star. Personally, I grew up playing in alleyways and attempting Beckham FKs with my boy aiming at our street sign.

Actually, I've seen some people shit on it for being snobby and others shit on it for being a 3rd world poverty sport or whatever (usually NFL stains). Yeah, it's definitely not an aristocrat thing. Them man's play polo and golf and shit like that.

I pick up trash from the tables and a server comes saying I could get in trouble for throwing away her receipt (the signed copy). I politely apologize, I mean she should get the check and pre-bus her table anyway. She goes and tells a few servers, talking shit, w/e I can get over it. Then she tells the GM who she's close to. I get a few looks from him, and when I'm rolling silverware he passively says finish the basket and that I'm being sent home. Not serious trouble, but are you fucking kidding me? This lady has fucking 40 years on me (she's probably 60 for real) and she's going around talking shit about a person who never gets complaints from coworkers? Wow dude. I'm tired of this shit. Was about to flip out on her. Fuck outta here. I never snitch on the servers for leaving ungodly amounts of shit on their tables.

Fuck her, restaurant I worked at had a type like that. Had been working at this pancake house for near on 30 years, and let everyone know that by wearing her classic style uniform (some shit-garish floral vest as opposed to the solid aprons rest of the servers wore). Acted like king shit, would be short with everyone else and tattle on every little thing to the managers.
She was a normal, inoffensive enough person during breaks, so maybe I shouldntve been a little happy when she was fired after the managers found she'd been giving her regulars free fruit and drinks to get better tips for about 10 years

Think about it this way, if your GM is any good he sent you home because he knew your coworker wasn't going to shut up about it and focus on her job as long as you were there.
If your GM sucks and was siding with her, well fuck, it's just a temporary job anyway. As Irish said, motivation to get on your grind and find something else as you were mentioning earlier.
