Safe to say Islah changed when Gates got married, the man's in love and it shows in the music and interviews. No doubt the label got him to make more love anthems too.

Dope album tho just needed a couple more motivation tracks.

Samsung bought 1 million records to give away. Jay Z had an app exclusive for Galaxy phones and the 1st million downloads got MCHG for free. MCHG did also sell over 1 million without the app.

Rihanna is sort of different because you also had to sign up for Tidal to get the free download. 1 day later the album was able to be purchased on Itunes (it's #1 on there).

RIAA counts that as a sale because they bought it. Nobody knows what Billboard is going to do though.

But I'm probably not the person they are trying to impress or sway in the first place.

I wonder if those free U2 albums were counted as sales?

It's amazing how obvious, yet extremely lucid, this statement is. Sometimes you wonder if artists are just being completely cartoonish in their attacks against the "EVUL" mustache twirling money-swindlers of the industry, but sadly it's more of a reality than it may seem.

Sad this is the way it is often, isn't it? We still don't learn as human beings.

Why is it that Lil Wayne won't leave Young Money and go to someone else if the record label won't let him/won't release his album? Is he contractually obligated to release "Carter 6" on that label or just "any album", on that label?

Why is Drake still with Young Money, didn't his last tape get him out of a contract of some sort?

Why won't Lil Wayne release his album through an indie label, or on bandcamp or some shit

Artists just can't leave a label. They're signed. As in contractually signed to that organization. Same reason why a NBA player just can't leave mid contract to a team of their choice.

That Drake theory was just something fans made up. Based on recent happenings it looks like Wayne and Baby have made up.

Future Development is so dope. I remember hearing Corner Story once made me go out and buy the album from Japan on Amazon (was out of print here for some reason at that time). Such a great beat. Luckily the rest of the album is really good also, though.
