Whens the last time something of that hyped dropped? Even DAMN. wasnt as groovy as a launch. Hell Kendrick is the only real rapper to look forward when it comes to quality. At least mainstream wise.Damn how old is evryone? Reminiscing like life of Pablo was some back in the day shit and first time being there for a Kanye West album drop or something.
MBDTF was so crazy hype wise. TLOP came close because it was pure fuckery, but MBDTF was a perfect build-up with an even better launch.I ain't get heavy into music until 2015
so TLOP was the first time I was there for a Kanye album drop
I'll never forget my first night listening to The Life of Pablo.
Legendary night.

Wheewwwww.Belly & Boi-1da dropped Mumble Rap, 11 track album. Alcantara ft. Pusha T as the single.
Wheewwwww.
New Big KRIT album in 3 weeks, "4Eva is a Long Time". Supposedly it's a double album, no features, and is 22 tracks long.
I expect some secret features, but yeah, 22 tracks is a lot. It's been 3 years since KRIT's last studio album, and 2 years since his last original project, so I'm hoping some time in the cooker is leading to something fantastic, but we'll see.That's... a lot of KRIT.
You have to understand, it was the atmosphere, how hectic it was, the notebook, the false good fridays, the clips from periscope, the MSG show, it was all the perfect storm.Damn how old is evryone? Reminiscing like life of Pablo was some back in the day shit and first time being there for a Kanye West album drop or something.
I downloaded the album immediately, got off social media, and just walked the empty streets/dancing listening to the album, which I generally like to do on drops ever since.I didn't go to sleep that night lol. I was up late doing college work and listened to it 6 times in a row. One of my roommates did the same and I didn't even know til after haha.
Might be the worst Ye album but it's still really good.
Good Fridays were so GOAT man
then Kanye/Chance pop up on SNL and they deliver one of the best song premieres/performances of all time with ULB
Not too hot on the Giggs, but Kelela I'm so so so hype about. I need to get through this backlog of albums though.Fair enough, can see how TLOP is release was hype, but I look back on the run up to MBDTF in a higher light. Especially with the good Friday releases. Was a fun time back in GAF back then.
Also new Giggs and Kelela
Appreciate your 2cents, gonna give it a listen in the weekend. Blade Runner was a disappointment in the musical department so I need some good tunes ;__;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYmCi1IU5u4

New CunninLynguists is dope. Not as transcendent and dreamlike as Oneirology, it takes a few tracks to reorient yourself to a more low key Dirty Acres-era feel, but after a bit Kno's intention on the production side comes through, combining bits of the sampling styles from A Piece of Strange and Death Is Silent with the detail from Oneirology into a warmer backdrop. Not to say it never reaches for space like the last album did (the last 3 tracks WHEW), but overall it's a more soulful sound here. On the rapping side, it's business as usual: Solid, carefully constructed verses that compliment the music, leaning heavily on the album concept. After 16 years all you can hope is that the quality hasn't plummeted, and so far so good.
What sort of electronic stuff? Wish the electronic music thread was more active, but I'm not exactly helping with that as well. Seeing Mall Grab b2b DJ Haus tonight right after a big south Asian wedding "sangeet" and then tomor seeing Satori and Blonde:ish. And the rest of the albums recc'd by folks here as well as some electronic stuff from Resident Advisor.
Oh no Thugger

Big rave/dance music community on gaf hop? That EDM molarky doesn't count.
My top 3? Probably Brockhampton - Saturation I, Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory, and Wiki - No Mountains in ManhattanGood morning, gaf-hop. I'm blatantly here looking for some recommendations. I was gonna wait until end of year lists to catch up, but I basically let all of 2017 pass me by and I need some new hip hop to listen to.
I lost interest in DAMN pretty quick, the new Freddie Gibbs was good, other than that I'm totally out of the loop.
Last year I liked Isaiah Rashad, Danny Brown, Freddie Gibbs and Young Thug's albums.
So what's good this year? I know some of you can list 100 things to listen to, but what are your top 3?
Yeah, fucking hell, Thug. This is about the tweets to his ex-fiancee right?Oh no Thugger

I am honestly jealous of people who haven't heard perfect timing yet. Probably the best hip hop album of the past 2-3 years imo

Is it not good?damn, antwon, wtf happened?
No I know you personally aren't joking lolYou guys still think I'm joking with the Nav album? I unironically enjoyed it a lot and it's probably one of the albums I gave the most spins this year. And not only because of Metro. Nav's delivery is monotonous and melodic at the same time and combined with the lyrics it's just entertaining - admittedly it's probably funny in an unintentional way too, but still.
Don't act as if you don't enjoy listening to corny rappers too sometimes. And real talk, is Drake really so much less corny than Nav?
Is it not good?
I like Perfect Timing as well; same situation as Ramriddlz: corny lyrics but the production carries both projects for me
