I watched Narcos before I started watching Thrones so Pedro Pascal was always Javier Pena to me before Oberyn Martell...for most fans it's probably the other way around

Maybe the problem is with his range.

Heh. Or he usually plays some sort of supremely intelligent authority figure. Also when characters are portrayed so masterfully they sorta 'merge' with their performer. I imagine I'll have the same minor 'problem' with Lena going forward.

New episode tonight:
Eastwatch

Daenerys demands loyalty from the surviving Lannister soldiers; Jon heeds Bran's warning about White Walkers on the move; Cersei vows to vanquish anyone or anything that stands in her way.

Daenerys makes an offer to the Lords of Westeros. Meanwhile, Tyrion worries about his Queen’s behavior and decisions, and Bran has a vision of the Night King’s army.
Those are the two loglines that I’ve seen (TV Guide & Sky Atlantic, respectively).

he is Sam's younger brother? he looks older though and the actor is older.

I thought if you a lord, you can do as you please i.e if you choose to make your younger son your heir, you can do so. But I thought Sam was the younger brother, who wouldn't be the first heir in the first place and Randyl banished him to the wall to add a final insult to injury.

C'mon man, Randyll literally says: "You see that sword up there? That's Heartsbane, it's been in the family for 500 years. It's supposed to go to my first born son after I die. To him"

I always thought that Littlefinger was behind Robert's Rebellion.
He very well could be. But I think he's gonna die this season, unfortunately.

I must've forgotten that line...

the first actor was closer to Sam's actor's age but was still older. well I guess that's that.

Little Finger would have been a kid back then. According to him, he was a child when Lyanna was kidnapped.

Really? I don't remember that. He's in his late 30s, early 40s when show starts. He's probably the same age as Jamie, putting him in his late teens to early 20s during the Rebellion. That happened 17 years ago when Robert comes to Winterfell for Ned.

Edit: He could not have been a kid. He says in the show that he fought Brandon for Catelyn's love, and got beat up badly. Brandon then went to King's Landing and was killed by Mad King. Brandon is older than Ned.

I find it hard to believe Brandon, who would have been at least 20 would beat up a kid.

TFW you realize you had sex with your nephew.

Seriously though, they probably will address Rhaegar and Lyanna at some point since Bran has the warg abilities and he's back in Winterfell.

Bran doesn't give a shit. He's currently in the same castle as the man who betrayed his father and sold Sansa off to marry Ramsay Bolton. Yes he doesn't say a thing.

What if...Petyr started the rumor that Lyanna was kidnapped and raped, when the reality is that Lyanna chose to go with Rhaegar?

Robert and the Starks created that narrative. Robert's due to his inability or unwillingness to recognize that his being a pathetic womanizing drunk is what drove Lyanna into the arms of his polar opposite. The Starks by not wanting to believe a daughter of their honorable House would betray the alliance that had been set for her.

Brandon and Rickard went to King's Landing to 'rescue' Lyanna, thinking she'd been kidnapped. After they were killed savagely there wouldn't be any reason for the North to doubt the original accusations.

People worried about character ages need to remember that they cast all of the actors too old. The Rebellion was 17 years before season 1, and Ned and Robert were late teens when it happened, but Sean Bean looks like he's in his mid 50s as Ned.

I don't think he was involved in that either, but ages don't really matter in GOT. Just look at Arya, Bran, and Sansa, heh. They are pretty much all kids still in the show it seems to me, though, I don't really know how much time has passed from season 1 till now.

This all makes sense and is probably the case but I'm saying what if Lyanna trusted Petyr and told him that she loves Rhaegar and wanted to leave with him, but Petyr made his first evil calculation and told everyone Rhaegar kidnapped her

That's a completely different matter. Most if not all of the characters were just simply made older. Ned in Bran's flashbacks looks like he's 28, and assuming Jon & Robb are like 20 by the time the show starts, Ned on the show is closer to his actor's age.

He probably doesn't know everything yet.

He said earlier this season that those past events come to him little by little. He has seen Littlefingers "chaos is a ladder" speech but probably hasn't seen Littlefinger betraying Ned yet.

All the characters in the show are aged up compared to the books. Made casting the younger characters much easier since they didn't have to bother with child actors for the younger ones and could just cast teenagers.

Even Martin admitted he made the characters in the books too young.

LOL. Young Ned wasn't a ward of Jon Arryn for 15 years.

I have to disagree. Ned looks really young in those flashbacks - only a little older than Bran is now. The actor who played him is only 24 himself.

.

Well, revenge for nearly being disemboweled by Brandon Stark would certainly give him a motive, as would getting rid of Cat's intended. Brandon is a Stark. Slow minds, quick temper. Baelish would know how he'd react to such rumor and that the Stark's honor would make it much more attractive than the alternative. Littlefinger also managed to climb high during and after Robert's chaotic rebellion.

You know what, Artisan, I like it! Not sure I believe it but it works.

Hmm, how could Littlefinger know Lyanna ? He grew up with Catelyn Tully (now Stark), no ?

Oh, hey, I'm glad I jumped in this thread because I'd completely forgotten that was a thing Littlefinger had said originally, so thank you for mentioning it. I dunno if that was in the "previously on" and I zoned out, or what.

I was thinking this scene: https://youtu.be/Bfnl9owFc84?t=1m03s

Well "kid" in heavy quotations. I mean he was probably teenage. But the way he talks about it makes it sound like he was quite young and probably not a mastermind at that point.

It doesn't happen a lot, but every once in a while the actors say something in their accent that I cannot understand at all. I had no idea that Bran was saying "chaos is a latter" until someone posted it in this thread and I watched the scene several times.

A boy can be 15 or so. I don't think he was 10 or anything like that.

But regardless. Love that speech in the crypt.

Best time of the week's coming soon.

Need to know how Jaime's doing and I hope Dickon Tarly lives, he seems to be a decent fellow considering how horrid his father's behaviour is.

Wonder if Jon'll finally leave, we don't have that much time left and he can't stay South for long.

I doubt he knows about Jon, but the suspect disappearance of Lyanna and Rhaegar always had two camps, some believe they left for love. Others believe she was kidnapped.

It's not surprising that Littlefinger would suspect more.

Yeah. LittleFinger definitely knows...which is dumb. He knows a lot of things...because he knows a lot of things. That's been the sole reason I dislike his character.

I think he knows because of what happened during the tournament. Rhaegar was beloved and thought to be a great man, and he loved Lyanna, so is he going to kidnap, rape and then murder her?

That could make him suspicious, yeah. But then every person whose ever heard that story or who was there should put pieces together too, I would think.

Maybe some others do, we've only really seen the perspective of people who are biased.
If he knows Rheagar put his best swordsman to protect the tower instead of at KL during the war where his wife is, it's not impossible to add it all up.

That I don't think he knows, he just knows that the official story has a lot of holes.

I'd say he definitely has his doubts about it being a kidnapping but knowing Jon's parentage seems too much of a stretch for me.

Posting his best men to protect her isn't the smoking gun that a lot of people think. It would make sense to have his prize be guarded by his best.

Let's mourn Bran's loss of identity

Think about all the fond memories we have of him as Brandon Stark. This rambunctious young lad who was bursting with energy and personality

Look at him now. A hollow shell of what he once was.

What a fantastic turn by the actor.

Littlefinger knowing about Jon, Varys knowing about Jon or Sam finding something about Jon's parentage from those scrolls would all be asspulls.

The only people we should be certain about is Bran and Howland Reed.

What a fantastic turn by the actor.

It's great isn't it?

I like how it's honorception when it comes to Ned taking care of Jon. Everyone assumes the honorable Ned did something unhonorable, like most men in that world do, but is now taking care of his mistake since he is so honorable but he's actually purposely besmirching his public honor for private honor.

Ned's honor is like a Shrek, it has many onions.

I want the characters to be floored not "meh, figured as much. Matter of fact, I gave them the idea..."

Right, but I thought Littlefinger started the madness by claiming kidnapping to get Robert and the Starks to behave in exactly the way he expected them to, to make sure they were killed off and he'd get Catelyn. The chaos causing the Targaryens to be driven out and a weaker Robert put in place with Littlefinger gaining more and more influence were side bonuses.
