"playing" dumb? unpossible
Yeah I didn't understand it either. She doesn't need anyone but herself (name) and her forces to legitimize her rule. A compromise with the seven kingdoms in the form of marriage goes against the whole 'I'm going to take back the throne and burn any who oppose me' thing she's got going. Why would she care about sharing her victory with any of the houses she's against? Etc
When did Dany said she's going to burn people in Westeros? An episode ago she said she wants to leave the world better than the way their fathers left it.

Might as well ask why she bothered to join up with the Greyjoys, Dorne or the Tyrells, I mean, why does she need them?

But Dany can't have kids, right? So her reign and house lasts one generation at best and without allies Westeros would immediate fall back into chaos again.

Isn't there some kind of phone meme about Lyanna Mormont? I would have thought the Internet would have been all over the "you refused the coll" line. Heh

We're at max Lady Mormont meme capacity, anymore and we will all die.

Literally every house: We're here to pledge our allegiance you, Mother of Dragons.

Dany: Dracarys

Tyrion: WHY'D YOU DO THAT

Dany: I don't need allies

So, um, guys, what are we watching now ?

I am looking forward to Westwood, but I don't have anything specfic in mind.

The Night Of looks like it'll be really good and I'll definitely get on the Westwood hypetrain, that looks pretty goddamn great.

Well the dragons aren't just for show I assume :)

In all seriousness, you are correct about her wanting to be a better ruler, I assume she'd only use them when the enemy left her no choice.

I wasn't directly quoting her in any case, just summing up what I thought her opinion was of Westeros/the Seven Houses.

Taking Daario as her lover to Westeros basically limits her political influence and exposes her. As a warrior he has great value, but outside of that he is a liability.

If the theory is correct, it's because Thyrion was betrayed out of rejection feelings by Shae. He thinks that Daario could feel the same once Dany find someone to marry.

Why would the conqueror with the largest army, the largest naval fleet, and three huge (and will likely be even bigger the next we see them) dragons concern herself with needing to be available for marriage? She's coming to take back her throne and burn all who stand in her way.

I didn't believe her when she said that. Seemed more for Daario's sake.

This is their ham-fisted way of setting up a marriage between Jon and Daenerys. You know it's coming, folks.

so can you just go around and kill whoever you want once youre a faceless man ? i remember jaqen offering arya to take her with him to braavos for training and afterwards she can "offer all those names to the many faced god"

was it his plan to just train her without letting her into the organisation all along ?

I was watching the episode again with my sister and when the Daario scene came up and you find out that it was indeed Tyrion who suggested it, she pipes up with, "oh he did that so they can't do to Dany what they did to him!"

Me: Huh? what do you mean "what they did to him"?

Her: With Shae! They used his lover against him.

I don't know why I didn't make the connection at all before.
That is pretty brilliant. Didn't think about it.

And to top it off, I think the next scene goes to show Tyrion is falling for/has fallen for Dany. After talking about having a garden, and now potentially falling for Dany...Tyrion ain't making it out of Game of Thrones, I'm afraid.

Exactly the impression I got. It's pretty obvious with his expression and the camera holding the shot just a little longer to let it soak in. I don't see how it can be interpreted as anything other than a guy on the wrong side of a one sided love. The dialogue, face, the shot hold, man it's obviously more than platonic.

Would be tragic if Dany goes mad and Tyrion has to end her himself. Repeat of previous love story conclusion.

Pretty sure Tyrion and Dany are platonic at this point, even with that lingering shot being referred to that some feel indicates otherwise. He's used to having to deal with Cercei's bullshit at every turn and a boy king that didn't know the first thing about ruling. He's still taking it all in that he's finally able to make a difference and be recognized and appreciated for his strengths.

My brother also mentioned he felt there was something between Dany and Tyrion. I disagree though. Extreme admiration for one another, but that's it.

I think their relationship means a lot more if it's him being respectful of her. We know he can love, we've seen it twice, but have we ever seen him actually respect someone SO much that he vowed to them? Not until Dany.

Tyrion got emotional because this is the first time someone has truly shown respect for him. Compare this scene to when he was Hand of the King back in Season 2.

Does the mountain have any consciousness left though? He is just a walking corpse that receives commands right?

I mean he's not writing poetry or anything but he has shown enough awareness to taunt or threaten others with menacing stares and anticipate Cersei's commands.

Why would she need to build connections and alliances in the country she intends to rule? Serious question? :p

YES. lol

To the people suggesting that marriage is being held as an actual option for Dany (something I disagree with if only for the simple reason that it would have been mentioned before and not just as a throwaway line to placate Daario), here's one simple question:

WHO does she marry???

Have y'all been paying attention to the Seven Kingdoms lately? They're all either in shambles, currently being ruled by other women, or both.

There's no politically advantageous marriage to be had. Littlefinger? No. He technically does not rule The Vale (...yet), nor is the Vale in a strong enough position to really offer Dany something worth considering marriage for.

Jon Snow? Her nephew?

By my last check, there's no male ruler in a strong position left in Westeros. So who is she marrying? It makes no sense.

There's no need to play traditional politics like this. The old houses are dead or dying. That was kind of the point of this season.

You make it sound like she knows Jon is her nephew or that she'd actually care about fucking him.

"Targaryens wed brothers and sisters for 300 years to keep the bloodline pure."

It'd be a sound decision to join up with the person who owns all of the North.

Well, unless someone kills Bran soon, she'll know soon enough.

(that, and I just really don't want to see that happen. A JonxDany marriage would be gag-worthy for hundreds of reasons...)

Cersei should blame the Mountain. If he didn't rape and kill the Martells, maybe Myrcella would be alive.

Maybe. lol.

I mean, I figured they'd just do it doggy style but if you're into Jon gagging Dany, I guess they could also do that.

I feel like having a Valyrian Steel sword is your ticket to Season 8, given that they're super effective against the WWs. Brienne, Sam, Jon, who else?
