10/10.

Finally that fucking Lannister gets it, and the post-brothel scene was hilarious and awesome.

It makes me happy to see posts like this.

Westeros will be a better place when House Lannister gets what's coming to them. Hopefully, Tyrion will be spared from that delicious karma.

Oh, and Tommen and Mycella. They're good kids.

Jamie turned an innocent boy invalid, and he's directly responsible for the demonspawn that is Joffrey.

Just getting a hand cut off isn't anywhere enough, so here's hoping he'll get beheaded.

It's funny. I actually like seeing Jamie on screen. I like his character. If he wasn't such a terrible piece of shit, I might have actually felt sorry for him. But yeah. Outside of Tyrion (and Tywin, I just can't help it, his presence is just amazing) there's no love for House Lannister from House Satonaka.

It's really something that I'm so emotionally invested in this show. I guess this is what good television does. Can't wait for next week.

If we're talking about past events, I can't remember what was up with that comet at the beginning of season 2. I seem to remember someone saying it signified the return of magic or something, did they expand on that?

Eh... put me in the "Emilia Clarke looks much better as a brunette" camp.

Or maybe it's because I generally prefer brunettes / not this extreme whitish blond hair.
Oh wow. Oh wow oh wow.

Rose Leslie is still the superior choice though.

I think it was said to just signify that dragons are back.

I thought it was fucking terrible and completely undermined the severity of the situation. I've watched the episode atleast 3-4 times since and every time it is jarring and totally out of place. After a major character altering scene such as that you expect it to be treated a certain way, like it was with Ned. Lingering on the same shot of him screaming for a few seconds then cutting right to a jovial sounding song with heavy drums and guitars gave it an almost comedic vibe. Imagine if they followed up the Ned scene with something similar. Ugh... a very sour note to end on from an otherwise great episode, in my opinion.

Amen. Im glad someone else felt the same. Sucked me out of an extremely tense moment. Not a huge deal, but what in the FUCK were they thinking. With how magnificently they handled the end credit on S1E4, and the Arya Sword dancing episode and the death of Ned, I cannot imagine why they went the way they did with this latest episode.

No one has a sense of humor about the ending of this episode.

It is known.

Complaining about the music played during the credits... I've heard it all now..

Sorry, that shit was bad. And it kicked in RIGHT away IIRC, so its not like you could miss it. Absolutely ghastly music choice that just killed the mood of the scene that preceded it.

You do come off that way a lot. Sometimes I wonder why people even watch the show if they are so negative about it.

I see. Well, I have stated in the other thread that I thought this was the best episode of the season yet, and I liked almost everything about it (the only thing I didn't care for was how Stannis was portrayed - not the scene itself, just the way Stannis appeared - and the Pod brothel scene). And, of course, the horrible song in the credits.

but it was the song they had been singing while taking Jamie prisoner, it was poetic.

funny lyrics too

why must it always be heavy handed and mystical
boring
?

It signifies whatever the viewer, both in-universe or outside, want it to.

Has anyone said it ruined the entire episode, or is this just more typical strawmanning? Come on.

"It killed the mood of the scene that preceded it" or "It was a poor choice to turn a serious dramatic scene into a joke" != "WORST EPISODE EVER", guys.

So,

I haven't seen this talked about here, but it is a theory! If there is evidence against it, let me know! But this seems to be my thinking.

So, winterfell. Some one burnt it...

It was surrounded. But not by roose boltons bastard (the we got there and it was all gone message rob got), I trust the bastard here. But it was surrounded, by who I do not know. Who ever it was, was not allied with the iron borns (hence alfie allens sisters friend recuing him and killing his kidnappers)

So. Then we have rooses men who have just found jaime and honking giant woman. Are we to assume (as I am!) That THIS is roose boltons bastard and his men.

If it is. (Well for my own narrative here lol) I may track a few things on a map: where honker and jaime left robb starks camp, in relation to where winterfell is, and in relation to where rooses men have now just found honker and jaime.

Yes.

*strokes beard*

This is a valid theory.

(I've seen many people refer to rooses men, but I don't think I've seen anyone else claim its his bastard??)

I feel for him. Scratching your balls with the left is nowhere near as pleasant as doing it with the right.

And I believe that's my total amount of sympathy for Jaime Lannister.

Pretty sure they didn't go for a more quiet ending because they don't want people to feel pity/sympathy for Jamie. He is after all, an incestual backstabber whos family is pretty much all scum.

The Lannisters do what is necessary for them to keep on keeping on. They've betrayed both Kings they've served and have not a shred of honour. Nobody should feel sorry for them.

edit:

except for Tyrion, whos only made the most of his name through coin.

I really liked the music at the end. It was full of energy and bombastic - I think it was the right tone. If it was slow and sombre it would have lacked punch.

Might as well weight in.

I guess I didn't really have a problem with the music but...

When I watched it later on DVR, I SWORE that the dvr had fucked up and the audio was not supposed to me there. It's really loud for the scene, the tone doesn't match and most of all...was it supposed to come in when it did, before he lost his hand? That was the biggest shock to me; it felt like a huge mistake. If they had waited and had it 15 seconds later at the start of the credits ok I get that but I was too busy asking myself WTf is going on to even be properly shocked by what just happened.

The song is fine, the choice to do that is fine, but the execution on it was beyond confusing.

Sounds like some of the torrents where people messed up the audio to fuck with the downloaders.

It's supposed to play as the credits start, not when the actual show is still going.

Yeah, I think most people loved the choice of music to accompany the hand-cutting of an incestual backstabber who robbed an innocent boy the use of his legs.

He caused a boy a to lose the use of legs, so it's really only fair that he too lose something precious - like his swords hand.

The one who captured our lovely couple is not the Bastard of Bolton. The Bastard of Bolton was in Dreadfort (S2, and this is where he most likely sent the letter), which is a stones throw away from Winterfell. He could not have ridden that far south so soon, since they got captured in the lands near Harrenhal.

Really? There was a gap in the audio on my system right before it happened so I wasn't sure if it was really how it happened, it was the dvr or the HBO feed. It doesn't come in super early, but right as the guy starts to swing the knife. Jarring.

Even after the hit, there is a silent moment until he actually looks at his hand, followed by the scream, which fades into black screen. THEN credits+music (which is why it wasn't a problem for me at all)

My God I love this show!

Music didn't bother me at all. I really didn't pay much attention to it. I have no sympathy for Jamie, even though this trip with Brienne has made him much more human to me and I will always be greatful that he saved Brienne. But not enough to care that he's lost a hand.

I don't know why but Daenarys is my favorite for the Iron Throne. Love the dragons, and she seems to be a step or two ahead of everyone around her. That is if she has a plan to not actually give up her dragon. She can't possibly think that's a good idea so I'm assuming/hoping there is a plan afoot. I also think she understood everything that trader said about her and is playing him. I did notice that she seemed to understand the woman. I also loved her comment that all men must die, but we are women (or something like that). I also usually prefer brunettes but for a strange reason I prefer her in character.

As far as everything else, I loved it all. I have no problem with episodes being all over the place. It helps to make it so that you can never look away because you just don't know what you might miss.

Lastly, I hate Theon more than anyone, maybe even Joffrey (I'm pretty cold on Stannis too). I wasn't thrilled that he was saved in the nick of time, even though raping him seemed a really odd thing and completely out of character for the show. I hope he gets shamed massively when he gets to his sister for being a putz. I just want to punch him right in his mealy face.

Yeah, it's definitely after the credits hit.
