Lol, that's really pushing the definition of slave. Sure sure sure, the definition of slave can be stretched a lot, and you could even be philosophical and argue that every person on earth is a slave. But you can't possibly compare the position Dany was in to that of a slave. She was forced to marry a guy, and thus she was made queen, got body guards, and got all that she needed while not having to do any work, apart from pleasing her husband.

Please. If Dany was a slave, then just about every damn character in this show is a slave.
i think it's more about the feeling than literal sense.

regardless it's why she sympathizes with slaves so much. not sure where I read it bit the info is out there.

Fewer.
Wait, I'm doing it wrong.

At this point I'm having a hard time understanding the gold mask rebellion.

First of all, the mask is pointless, there are countless dead now and if there was anything to learn from their identity, they would have learned it. Second of all, its hard to understand who is behind it and what is the motive. The husband-to-be was killed in the attack, so it is harder to believe the lead families were involved. There were hundreds of them at the fighting games, so they couldn't be foreign assasins, they would have to fit in. So these are presumably wealthy citizens (not slaves) that have organized in the hundreds to assasinate Dany, and they are all willing to die for the cause, and its not to protect their religion or culture (the fighting pits was a concession that Dany made for their culture). I can't think of why. They aren't exactly oppressed from what I can tell.

Dany came in and freed their slaves, simple as that. If Dany came in to the American South in the late 1800s, killed Jefferson Davis and then freed all the slaves and claimed rule over the Confederate states, the people wouldn't care how many cultural staples she helped conserve. Hell, the people back then felt it was important enough to go to war against their own families over the issue so it's not too much of a stretch to imagine a group being adamantly opposed to her no matter what she did.

I would have thought they would have had greater success at creating chaos and confusion if they didn't wear the masks at all. They can recognise each other while picking out actual members of the group is very hard to do as they blend in with the crowd.

I have to admit one thing guys. I've never been really a person who cries, and only few movies have made me emotional, like Hachi. So I was very surprised when watching latest episode, part where Dany and others were in trouble and then dragon came. I have no idea what happened inside me, but I broke down and cried for good 30 seconds. It was damn weird but at the same time awesome experience. I dunno was I sad or happy or something between

Maybe it is that simple, but this isn't a war, more of a rebellion. These aren't soldiers behind the mask, they are citizens, and they don't really seem like the fighting type. I'm suprised they are so willing to spend their lives wastefully when their money could have bought more. Why not hire just a couple skilled assassins? Why not bribe someone close to Dany?

This is brilliant, but I don't think the argument (that I've seen used elsewhere to claim that burning Shireen didn't make sense for his character) about how Stannis could hold out at Storm's End for a year while starving but couldn't hold out in the snow for a few weeks has much merit. If the former case he wasn't trying to get anywhere, he was just trying to protect his castle. In the current case he knows that Winter is here and if he goes back to Castle Black he would probably never get to Winterfell and would die at the Wall when the White Walkers come.

Felt something similar in the previous episode, when the music kicked in as they were running to the boats. Or that one shot of Jon going through the battle and see Wun Wun burst through the house.

They trained to fight conventional wars

not that shady guerrilla shit

Close quarter combat should be part of their arsenal, they cant even do that. Id say theyre making the Harpies strengthen in numbers, they're easy to take out. Useless. They will have no chance against men of the North, the Wildlings in particular.

Clowns.

Who is to say they didn't hire sell swords to do this? Their numbers are very high as evidenced in the last episode.

And my "civil war" analogy would apply even if the civil war hadn't happened yet. I'm saying if Dany came into deep southern territory with people so passionate about their right to own slaves that they would even consider going to war with their own brothers, and said, "I'm in charge, and freeing your slaves" you bet your ass there'd be a rebellion.

they win most of the close quarter fights actually, one unsullied probably kills 3-5 assassins before he's killed. But again, they're out numbered by a hidden enemy, you cant blame them that much.

and what? They'd detroyed the Wildlings in open combat, are you serious?

That "rule" is a grammar myth pushed by pedantic idiots, there was nothing improper about the usage in both cases.
I'm fine with him burning his daughter, it was like a bit cold or something, seems reasonable, and really, her scenes were mostly pointless, but fuck having a grammar Nazi rule the country.

Tormund? He's pretty cool... But I'm #TeamRamsay if we're picking our horses in this upcoming race.

Every time I hear the Bran warging into Dany's dragons theory, I always wonder how come no one has considered that maybe Bran will have his own dragon.

Since Dany got 3 dragon eggs as a gift, it's possible that there are more dragon eggs elsewhere. And it's also possible that the children of the forest have been holding on to them and waiting for the right time to hatch them. Afterall, that one magic kid threw like a fireball or something. So I'm assuming they have fire magic.

It would be sweet as fuck if Bran just shows up with dragons for each of the Starks.

I imagine John Snow's dragon to be all white. And Rickon will have the biggest dragon cause he's the littlelest.

The girls don't get any dragons cause they neglected their dire wolves. They failed the test.

That's not what I was seeing. It looked like one Unsullied (other than Grey Worm) would kill one, maybe two assassins before getting shanked.

Eh not really a fan of the dragons, I like there being only 3. Don't want a bunch of dragons to pop up and then it is just a giant cgi fest.

Everyone's all like #TeamStannis and #TeamBolton and #TeamWights and I'm just sitting here all season wondering where the fuck the Greyjoys all went.

Theon's father never cared for him and his sister gave up on him when she saw how broken he is. Not really much point in showing them again I suppose.

So the season is now about to wrap up and Stannis has done fuck all for the whole season...except burn his daughter alive.

And now that John Snow has really climbed up he "characters I really like" list since the episode last season in which they battled the wildlings at the wall, I can assume he is about to die in the next episode...or Arya...or both

Do we know they aren't soldiers? Presumably the city had its own army, I assume we saw them when she took over the city but I can't remember what happened to them.

They were like "fuck this shit" when they received the dick in a box. Oh yeah his sister attempted a rescue but shirtless Ramsay was too much for them.

The problem is that we even have to debate this. We spent more time with Messendei or whatever trying to understand whether Grey Worm has a worm than was spent understanding the situation in the streets of the city and why the Unsullied are getting destroyed. Poor choice, writers.

This can be said for most characters. Not the burning daughter part, the part about them doing fuck all.

I came to peace seasons ago that things happen for Dany at a glaciers pace, Tyrion showing up at least added something...and who didn't enjoy Cersei's plan backfiring gloriously.

Hundreds of armed soldiers attended the fighting games and no one noticed? That might explain why they actually tried to attack the dragon though. Normal citizens probably would have nope'd out of there when it showed up.

Yeah, I'm super worried about Jon Snow now. They haven't been subtle in showing that kid is about to do something that impacts the story.

Yeah, that guy.
But really, all royalty must die, every single one.
I channel my real life hate toward monarchs in general (and the Windsors in particular) and this show is like porn to me.
Even when they don't show boobs.

I was getting annoyed by all those princess Charlotte pictures on my wall and that last episode was just a wonderful way to wash away the bad taste.

Isn't "less than 3 weeks" correct because it's about time?
The idea that using "less" for countable items is a mistake is a bullshit rule that was pulled out of people's ass.
It's not even about traditionalism, there was never a point in time that this was reflective of common use. People were looking for symmetry with "much" and "many" since "fewer" is indeed never used with not countable items, but that's not how English works.
Stannis stays losing.

Very interesting episode. I love that the show isn't scared to dive into controversial topics (burning of kids and rape) because universe the show is set in is indeed dark and filled with sadness. I predict that burning his daughter will drive him into eventual insanity where he will murder Melisandre.
