Regarding the Rains of Castemere scene of the latest episode [ASOS]
some people (mainly FunkyPapa) on the non book tread have been able to figure out that something horrible is going to happen, since they have made the connection between the chapter's name and the song. I wanted to chime in and dispell that notion in order to get an increased impact, saying something along the lines of "well, the Rains of Castemere song is not only about bad things, you know, many people use it on celebrations" but it is impossible to do such a thing without raising further suspiction, I guess.

Leave it alone.

ASOS
Almost everybody had a sense of dread before the RW. I know I certainly knew something bad was going to happen. The impact is in just how fucking bad it is, which I never suspected. Let them ride along as it is.

Well they're not going to show actual sex acts, just alluded ones. But that slurping in S1 >_>
Doesn't prevent them from showing fully naked women every couple of episodes, and very few fully naked men.

I mean, I don't care, I think this show has way too much needless sex scenes as it is, but still. It's ridiculous to have sex scenes where only one side keep their pants on.

Doing a sex scene where the dude's weiner is plainly visible is pretty much porn. It's not like we get a ton of close-up vagina views either.

Doing a sex scene where the dude doesn't even remove his pants is dumb. I'm not saying you should show penetration, but it's dumb to assume Gendry or Stannis were doing Melisandre when they never ever got the dick out of their pants.

Yes, I know it's not the same and that very few people are going to go "Yooo Gendry's dick NNNNNNG" in this forum, but it's still dumb.

Penis-fans got to see Hodor and that wine-merchant that tried to kill Daenerys.
Not sexy enough for ya?

In all fairness we've had more vagina the dick. I didn't mind it the the Stanis scene because him doing the deed as quickly as he could made sense, it seemed a little awkward in the Gendry scene because it's obviously meant to be hanging out yet it's hidden in every shot. Then again if I edited the scene the dick leech would have gone entirely given it was completely pointless, though I couldn't help but laugh at poor Davos finally being granted freedom at last only to immediately be dragged into that scene.

Ah, well, it's completely fine, then. Obviously Stannis would have a zipper there.

And Melisandre, obviously, tastefully covered Gendry's dick after she was riding him because Stannis and Davos wouldn't watch her power otherwise. It'd be totally gay.

I hate to keep going back and forth on it because it feels pretty stupid, but I really don't think that's true. I think we've had about 3 instances of both.

Considering I explicitly mentioned slipping it over the top of the pants/pulling the pants down a bit, it's pretty obvious I wasn't talking about using a zipper.

Lest we forget, Theon's member was swingin all over the place in that scene with Ros in S1. You all remember the one, where he was soft two seconds after orgasm...

They probably had to show us that so we'll know what we're missing from now on. Amirite?

Aiii

So not worth it
Hm, I guess there's been more dick in this show than I remember.

Which goes to show how much interest I have in dicks, but yeah, I guess they aren't shy about it.

I "outed" him in hopes he would edit his post, or one of the mods did.

Debated against it, once again didn't want to ruin anything, but it's only a matter of time before the poster "speculates" something more significant outright. Figured it was better to do it on a somewhat vague post.

I think we might be too quick to jump on somebody for speculation that makes perfect sense. What else are you supposed to get out of the leeches scene? (ASOS)
It's really obviously supposed to be a curse on the three people whose names being spoken. There is literally no other way to read it. So if someone says maybe those characters will end up dying later is that really an unbelievable stretch? But then when you reply to it like that it basically confirms it and makes it a spoiler even if it wasn't. The only thing in there that sucks is when he says that he's heard that some crazy shit is going to go down in the next few episodes

That has been my stance so far. Still, I get impressed by how right some book readers get these things with so little time to speculate o_O

As for the non book tread, fear not, I won't spoil anything, much less that thing. It is stupid and would be detrimental to my own interests, the best part of the non reader tread is watching the delicious, virginal non-reader reactions, the less exposed they are to the books, the better for me *creepypedofingerexpression.jpg*

finally got around to watching the last episode, so now you guys can make fun of my opinions

dario is a creep, but that's pretty much how i imagined him in the book for some reason, so i was ok with that

the tyrion scenes were alright, i'm not as impressed with dinklage's acting as everyone else seems to be. also, is it just me or is his face completely covered in makeup now? he looks strange to me. sansa was decent this episode but she didn't seem as nervous or upset as i imagined her to be

arya and the hound was ok too. the way she was riding with him on that horse was kind of awkward though, i guess he doesn't want to get to the twins very fast

the sam the slayer scene was AMAZING

Sansa acting like she did on the show makes sense compared to how she was in the book- [ASoS]
In the books, Sansa is just getting ready for a normal day when BAM, Cersei barges in and says "Hey! you're marrying Tyrion today, get ready!" Its totally out of blue, whereas it seems like the show gave Sansa several days at least to prepare for the wedding, mentally. Add in how Book Tyrion is way more ugly and mangled in the looks department than TV Tyrion and I think trying to have TV Sansa act as upset as Book Sansa wouldn't have made as much sense. Probably would have just made Sansa look like a massive jerk, especially since we wouldn't be able to get her inner thoughts, unlike the books.

good points. i guess that just brings up that i wish show tyrion was a bit more like book tyrion. for me it's just a better character, though i can see where adapting that character would be trickier without his pov

i still think sansa could have showed a little more emotion when faced with the prospect of being bedded by a lannister dwarf at age 14, but it's not a big deal

Hah, well you've got at least one person in the other thread calling her an asshole for saying "what if I never want you to". lol

It's interesting that some in the other thread [ASOS]
haven't even realised that Edmure's wedding hasn't been portrayed yet, never mind the implications of it.

There's going to be some supremely surprised watchers in a fortnight's time.

holy shit daario was annoying on paper, but in this show...god damn it's somehow worse. i have to deal with that cheeseball face now?

i loved the other mercenary (the vulgar one). he reminded me so much of titus pullo. wish he lived instead of daario :(

melisandre naked was hotter than daenerys. like daaaaaamn

Agreed. Agreed on everything. I want the Titan's Bastard back.

I am reading the books now, just slightly ahead of the tv series (about to end ASOS). One aspect of the books that I don't like so far is-
does anything good ever happens to the people we root for? All likable characters always lose, they are the ones who always get their lives fucked, while the shitty ones just keep winning. At best we get momentary respites for the characters we root for. I am mostly talking about the red wedding, tyrion's second trial by combat etc.

This is why I'm taking a break from reading the books for a little bit after finishing ASOS (and GoT and CoK back to back to back). There's just so much dread, it gets hard to keep on going on sometimes :p I need a break and will be reading a few uplifting things. lol

ASOS
Sure there are definitely moments where I wanted to cheer, but when those moments of dread happen, it definitely feels like it hits a LOT more than the good moments. Joffrey's death for example, seemed like it paled in comparison to the moments you described, the Red Wedding of course hit like a ton of brickes, and Gregor vs Red Viper, just that last bit where Gregor kills him, that was hard to read and definitely have incredible impact, but I guess that's having strong villians and heroes.

Weren't they modelled in part on Native Americans? A number of tribes preferred clean-shaven or neatly groomed facial hair IIRC.

Well... actually a huge part of the native population didn't/don't grow much facial or body hair. Trust me, I'm four gens down from some heavy (possibly full) Choctaw and yet that's enough that I only shave about once every two weeks.

"Swinging all over the place"? I didn't even notice it except on a re-watch, it's visible for like half a second and I suspect its filming was almost accidental.

As a straight male who thinks penises are kind of gross, even I can admit that with opportunities for Robb, Jon, Theon, Jaime, and Gendry dick this season, the fact that they went 0/5 on that is total injustice to fans of penis, compared to virtually every female cast member having to strip down at some point.

It's not like Dany or Mel are showing their twats.

Floppy dick is roughly equivalent to boobs though, right? Readying it for action charges it somewhat, but when it's sleepy it's just there, I don't see how it could be offensive.

In the near future, TV and film is going to have to come to terms that nearly everyone will have seen hard dicks in porn and that it's really not such a big deal.

Nah, boobs aren't genitals. And even when girls show the front it's mostly just bush and no lips.

I think Osha is the only main female to go full frontal anyway, and she's barely a main character.

Jon said he's getting his dick out at some point. It's in his contract.
