I would guess that (series)
Cersei, Jon and Dany trying to lead in their various environments will be one of the big focuses in Seasons 5 and 6.

Series
Will have Tyrion, Stannis, and the Iron Born. Kingslayer and Brienne each in the Riverlands will be great too. Probably to a lesser extent the Dornish.
Plenty of storylines.

Since they've aged Sansa 2 years, that means Dany is only 16 in the tv show.

Rickon is 6, Jon is 17, Robb is 17, Arya is 12, Joffrey is 15, somehow Podrick is 12.

I wouldn't be shocked if they cut the Iron Born from the show altogether
.
They won't cut them. They only need 3 characters. It is the Series
Dornish that will be cut. Other than Arianne, Red Viper, and Quentyn, there is not much need to the others. 8 Sand Snakes? Really?

Nah, the ages are all mixed up in the show.

They mentioned Joffrey being 17 or 18 last season.

LAUGHTREY

Modesty becomes a woman
Regarding the episode 10 synopsis: [ASoS/ ADwD]
is the "Bran tells a ghost story" probably referring to the Nightfort? So are we guessing that they'll leave off Bran's story this season with him probably meeting Sam at the Nightfort and maybe going beyond the Wall with Coldhands?

I'm really curious how they'll handle that if thats the case, since Bran really does not have much material at all after that. Its basically him going beyond the Wall, traveling for a couple chapters; then get attacked by Wights and meet the Children of the Forest and Bloodraven and becomes Tree Bran. I guess they could stretch that out and I suppose Tree Bran could be a nifty means of using flashbacks, if they wanted.

Just seems crazy that it seems plausible that the show could basically get to and get through ADwD material with Bran as soon as next season. We could be getting the TV show spoiling future books that soon. Makes me wonder how they'll handle Rickon and Osha splitting up too. Will they just go off screen or will the TV show actually give Rickon some attention!?

Ep10? Possibly?
They had Sam coming up from the well in a trailer for this season, so I think Coldhands is in this season, if not then I guess last shot is Bran, Reeds and Hodor going down the well. It would make sense time wise too since they need to get Osha and Rickon going to Skagos. Bran will probably meet him beyond the wall in s4 e1

[Series]
They won't cut the Dornish, they'll just trim the fat. I'll be damned if we lose Doran Martell and his gout.

They need to start introducing them beyond the Red Viper next year, though. Book readers found the influx of the Dornish in AFFC bad enough; viewers will be totally put off and lost.

Good god, I cannot wait for next year. So much raw potential.

ASOS
With all these revelations about Walder Frey's speech, I feel like THAT'S the part they have to fucking nail in the show now. I'll be looking for "red will run/wrongs aright" and now "mayhaps" on top of that. Though since the game wasn't in the show, I guess it won't matter that much.

Equally chilling/interesting:

ASOS
Walder Frey's "mayhaps" after Catelyn asks for bread and salt. It's a nod to the "lord of the crossing" game Big and Little Walder played with Bran; in the game, whoever plays the lord of the crossing asks the other player why they want to cross, and the other player is allowed to lie and break any oaths he swears if he sneaks the word "mayhaps" into his statement without the lord noticing.

This just blew my mind.

Dany is 17 at the beginning of the show. She is in fact the reason Robert's Rebellion was pushed back so it took place 17 years before the death of Jon Arryn, instead of 13 years before as it was in the books. This was because they needed an older actress to play the sex scenes with Drogo; any younger and it'd have been technically child pornography. Heck, they couldnt even have had a 17 year old play a 13 year old since it would still have been child pornography in some countries. And they knew Dany's sexual awakening with Drogo was an essential aspect of her character. So they aged her up instead.

I'm thinking
Ramsey will reveal himself as Roose Boltons bastard at somepoint.

Well, of course. ASOS/series
It'll probably be in the season finale. Iwan Rheon teased the identity of his character would be revealed at the end of the season. Not that there's any question about that.

I thought maybe we will even see Ramsey at the red wedding and Roose will introduce him as his bastard.

This is what I am thinking as well. Something along the lines of ASOS
Bolton presenting Ramsey as his rightful heir to Cat and Robb in the Twins. It would be a great way to tie both the Ramsey's identity revelation and creating an instantaneous and much needed feeling of impending doom at the wedding. Hell, they could show the whole Grewind's head sewed onto Robb as a Ramsay's personal idea, for good villain-building measure.

One characters age doesn't necessarily need to correlate with another's on the show. This is completely separate from the books, so the age differences are not relative.

Thanks for the link to that video. It is cool to know that for him it was difficult to write the [ASOS]
Red Wedding.
and that it was fun to write the [ASOS]
Purple Wedding.

That would be cool, but logistically it makes no sense.
How would he travel from the Dreadfort to the Twins in such a short amount of time?

ASOS
He needs to be legitimized first, which canonically happens after the other royal wedding

They can't do that.

How else will Dany leave Meereen?

series
The entire Meereenese knot is probably going to be avoided in the show. They'll have Tyrion sail straight to Dany, maybe along with the Iron Born fleet. I see Dany sailing to invade Westeros by the end of season 5.

The smart thing to do would be for the show to have a 2 or 3 time jump and start near the end of Dance with Dragons.

ASOS
I don't think Ramsay is going to show up at the Twins, but that is something that I left out of my guesses of content for episode 10. I assume he'll reveal himself to Theon and tell him what has happened to his "brother".

Totally agree. Series
Would really put the nail in the coffin of Theon's psyche, wouldn't it? Especially if Ramsay thanks him for taking Winterfell and allowing all of it to happen as a result. They could also do the reveal when Roose offers Cat that strip of skin from Theon's finger as a gift at the Twins, no?

Most people seem to forget about that part. Ramsay already flayed Theon's pinky finger so that skin's gotta end up somewhere. I think we will get that reveal at the beginning of the wedding. Ramsay definitely won't be at the Twins.

Man some of y'all are crazy. They're not going to just cut most of the 4th and 5th books because some people like to casually comment that it was boring to them.

There are some lulls and convoluted moments, sure... but those books are filled with interesting stuff. People like to groan... I've noticed the Ironborn and Brienne chapters being commonly called out for being boring in this thread. I guess for some people that shit can drag and there's a buttload of random, miscellaneous characters that don't dramatically affect the long-term plot, but just went you let your guard down you get dropped with major information. It's how some people probably skimming Brienne's chapters late in AFFC are surprised when they hear among the online chatter that, oh! There's evidence that the Hound is still alive?

We'll all be getting the hasty, condensed versions of those books when they adapt them, anyways. They skip over a lot as it is, and they like to amplify certain moments or generate new material when possible on the show, so I don't see how things will be any different come AFFC and ADWD.

Not happening.

My coworker has totally figured out Episode 9 ASOS
He accidentally read that Rob dies, knows that there's such a thing as "The Red Wedding" but up until today hadn't put together that it might be at Edmure's wedding. He's basically put together, Red Wedding + Robb's death + Leaches = Massacre at Emure's wedding. He doesn't know the whole of it but it sucks he knows already. Ah well, the rest of them know nothing so I can't wait till Monday.

I wouldn't necessarily call that "figuring it out" then if he already had some of it spoiled haha. That sucks for him though.

If I hadn't read the books, I'd be completely pissed if I was spoiled for the next episode. It is no doubt the WTF moment that sticks out for so many people it seems, and then it snowballs into so much other stuff happening in ASoS.

After finishing AFFC my first thought was "how can anybody find this boring? How can anyone not like this?". I mean it's not a Rollercoaster like ASOS but how many fantasy novels are? I loved every page of AFFC and I didn't want it to end.
The Cersei / Jaime chapters are a delight; loved the Ironborn stuff; enjoyed the Dorne chapters and didn't even mind the Brienne chapters. They struck me as very sad, in a way. The last Brienne chapter in AFFC is exhilarating, too. Probably the slowest chapters are Sam's, but even then they are ripe with backstory

Is there no longer a thread for book readers currently reading the books? I don't want to venture into the unmarked thread until I'm done (soon!), and I noticed This thread is now locked.

ADWD
Drogon descended from the heavens and saved Danny from a really boring story.

Also Kevin, Lord of Exposition!

I guess not. I didn't know that they locked the "OK nerds, you win. Song of Ice and Fire is gud. " thread until you mentioned it. That's too bad - it was a useful thread.

I completely agree. I loved every bit of AFFC, with Brienne's chapter being my least favorite. I vastly prefer AFFC over ADWD, at least.

Also, while, yes his marriage was stupid and obviously cost them, I don't really get how the blame could ever be shifted to him. Lest we forget, Robb was Frey's liege lord, as in he should not have had to negotiate with him in the first place and denying him access to the bridge, regardless of concessions or no concessions, would be tantamount to treachery. Frey was a scumbag from the beginning and he had no right to demand anything of Robb nor does he have a leg to stand on in terms of Robb betraying him first.
I call bullshit on that.
Robb (actually his mom) was asking Frey to go into open rebellion against the Throne. Frey didn't have to do shit.

To the above

Series
I've already been corrected on the same topic, Frey was actually sworn to Riverun, not Winterfell. I don't think it changes much as Riverrun was with Robb, but still.

But yeah, Frey's honor was shit. He held off going to Riverun's aid in the rebellion until the war was almost run.

It was a stupid move my him to engage in the RW though, considering he wants to see the longevity of his house. No one will ever trust them again. Their hold on Riverun will not last long. In the long run the RW will do more damage to his house than good. He's already lost more Freys because of the RW than during the War of the Five Kings.

I completely agree with everything you posted but what I responded to was bullshit.
He didn't have to be a part of Robb's rebellion and the deal he made to be a part of it should've been kept on Robb's part. I understand he was just a boy but he doesn't have that excuse in the show.

Holy crap. That thread being locked is like . . a mile stone to me. It's what got me to even start the books back in 08.
