Since the introduction of Naruto on the GameCube in 2003, the anime-based license has grown to include three titles in the Gekitou Ninja Taisen series, published by Tomy. Tomy announced on December 28, 2004 that the three installments, the latest one being "Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen! 3", have sold 1 Million units combined. Tomy will prepare letters of commemoration for the sales milestone. The Naruto series has become the first non-Nintendo series to sell over a million units in Japan, although the biohazard series is sure to follow with biohazard 4's release in January.

ReMake and Resi 0 didn't break a million in japan? Must have getting up in and around that mark, surely?

It was basically 400K for Zero and about 270K for REmake. The ports sold minimally, too.

Excellent. This bodes well for another sequel. I would rather them save Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 for Revolution launch, but that's almost two years away. Way too many characters to include in the game. Each sequel has gotten better, so bring it on I say.

naruto 3 is the worst in the series

The series deserves it, too. The games aren't just a cheasy cash-in on the license; they are generally really fun to play.

What other "non-nintendo series" are on GC, anyway? Not trying to troll, I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

Why do you think that? Aside from Itachi being blatantly in his own godly bracket, I think they did a better job of balancing out characters and taking out the small things that pissed me off in Naruto 2. I.e. Rock Lee's chakra meter charing while he's DOING Ura Renge to someone...mad cheap in 4P mode. Also, Orochimaru's chakra seal super was really crippling, as it permanently sealed your chakra for the rest of the round in addition to doing massive amounts of damage. And S. Sasuke's up+a teleport axe kick was the worst.

I don't agree with you.
As mentioned by Hero it is better balanced and has a lot of new characters.
You can argue with the fact that you don't really need NGT 3 if you already own NGT 2 but if you want to get a NGT game then you should get the 3rd one.

Sonic as a SERIES has probably sold about 2 million here. SA2:B is almost a million here alone in itself. I'm pretty sure SMC is 500K, SA:DX is about 300K, and Sonic Heroes should be around that level. Anihawk has precise numbers however.

I own the second in the series. It's a good game. However, the third isn't worth much.
As society said, this isn't a result to take care of.

YES! someone agrees with me.

After all, you only have to look at famitsu who rated naruto 3 lower than the awesome BLinx 2

Are you going to even bother try and validate your opinion with evidence at all or just rely on a junior member stating his own opinion? I asked you why you felt that GNT2 was better than GNT3. Even if we looked past the fundamental flaw in this argument that GNT3 retains every character GNT2, adds even more characters to flesh out the teams as well as be updated with the anime, and that every character has second super leading to more strategic battles, I would at least expect you to explain your position on this one.

Just because Famitsu might not have rated GNT3 as well as they did GNT2, I don't understand how you can argue they didn't improve at all.

It sure would be nice if these games came out over here. I played the first one and I thought it was pretty fun. What's the story on bringing the anime over to the states? Is it coming soon? I would imagine that the games would follow pretty quickly.

I imagine the Naruto anime series will be licensed by the end of 2005 here in the States. The Viz manga is popular, being in US Shonen Jump really helped, even though it was ridiculously popular for something that was mostly word of mouth and what not. It really is the next DBZ in terms of popularity. While One Piece is more popular than Naruto in Japan, I think Naruto has a bit more of American appeal with ninja and is more fighting oriented. How did Fox handle One Piece? I never managed to catch it whenever they showed it.

Hero, did you play gekitou ninja taisen 2? And 3? I don't think the third one is a bad game but if you already own the second, ngnt3 is a merely expansion of the prequel. More characters and a few differences aren't worth my money when I can play the 2°. Bye

p.s. my opinion is not less nor more important of yours. got it?

It took three games of a popular license to sell 1 million units. WOW, SO IMPRESSIVE.

Probably takes all xbox's game releases in japan to come close to 1m.. even then, probably doesnt even pass that :lol

I own both Gekitou Ninja Taisen 2 and 3. I understand that the 3rd one more of an extension/expansion of the 2nd one, but the 2nd one was derivative of the first. The jump from 1 to 2 was a bit bigger than 2 to 3, which I will admit. My last few posts have been in regards to asking why you and bitwise thought GNT2 was a better game. I was not trying to argue whether the few added characters and tweaked system was worth it, since that's up to each and every person to determine on their own.

This is the post that I've been trying to argue, since I really don't understand how that can be. Rereading your post I have come to see what you were trying to say. I respect others' opinions, however when I try to ask bitwise a question and he merely dodges it and has nothing to back up his statements I get a little angry. None of it was meant to be directed at you.

The two PS2 Narutos or four GBA Narutos haven't cleared a million total yet. WOW, DESPITE THE POPULAR LICENSE.

Ok :). In fact I also don't agree with bitwise's post. Naruto 3 is still a good game, took alone. Bye

One Piece Treasure Battle GCN is basically Naruto 3 + Mario Party in one sense, really cool stuff and a lot of characters with that great cell-shading style. Bandai keeps threatening to release OP games here but historically has never pulled through on their promises/SKU listings.

4Kids basically gave One Piece their trademark mangling. Entire episodes are missing, plenty of translation changes, renamed characters, heavy cuts from every episode, lots of visual editing (erasing smokes, replacing weapons with water guns)...oh, and the orchestral soundtrack has been completely replaced by some sort of american cartoon style, complete with a rap opener.

All 3 Naruto games could have sold 5 million copies combined and you would still have something to bitch about.

Wow, Japan must hate Sonic.

Hell I Hate Sonic. Its a boring series with no interesting gameplay and characters with 0 personality (+ horrid VA).

The SMB monkeys have more personality than the entire Sonic Cast.

I've come to wonder about his hate for the GC. It has underperformed this gen, but it is still a worthy console to own

Ugh. Horrible.

Don't know why this is big news, but good for them anyways.

Naruto 3 is awesome. I've never played the other 2 so I don't really care how similar they are to each other.

So if I haven't bought any 1 of the games in the series, should I get 2 or 3?

Saying that 2 was a better game would imply that I should buy 2 instead of 3.

If you don't have any GNT game, then get 3. It has the most characters out of the three games, every character has 2 specials, and a lot of questionable game elements were balanced out. I think it's pretty obvious to say that 3 is superior to 2, however for some people the change from 2 to 3 might not warrant a purchase, seeing as the games are pretty expensive.

I never played 2, but 3 kicks major asstebayo! I like the new characters like Tsunade and the mission mode is awesome. Did #2 have a mission mode that good? I know #1's wasn't. I just wish they would base it on the manga instead of the anime since there are a few characters that will always be missing from these games.
