It was obvious it was doing big numbers from the amount of people at the midnight events and the amount of units stores were getting. People were misinterpreting availability on launch day for lack of demand. When really it was because Nintendo sent another wave of systems out right before launch in addition to the preorders. Our local GameStop(in a small town) had 60 for preorder that sold out in April, then they got an 30 something units for launch day. 100 units sold before midnight on the 4th and before it even officially launched.

Fantastic system, much better than the switch 1 in terms of design, feel, speed etc. Couple of things need fixing, but im hoping they can do that with software and updates.

We keep forgetting were the SUPER niche fanbase for gaming. 90% of people just want to turn it on and play games. Not boot up adjust voltage, patch drivers, tweak settings.

Deserving for a company that really retains all there exclusives as exclusives. No multiplatform and no pc porting of Nintendo exclusives, good job Nintendo even if I'm a bit disappointing they fell the woke twisted gender ideology of removing male and female choices for Mii.

You should go back to not posting.

I can't find one anywhere online. Can you imagine when those floodgates open.

Nintendo is going to own the haters so hard with this launch and continued sales. This will be record setting. They will talk about this launch for decades.

Nice achievement, but I can't help but think that playstation console sales have been hampered by availability, not demand.

I wouldn't take anything from the Paul Gale Network seriously. Dude is the source of the Starfox X Metroid rumors from way back when. Either he did 0 vetting/fact checking or he just made that garbage up. Either way, his history doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

EDIT: According to Kit and Krysta's pre-launch show, Nintendo absolutely will let us know what milestones and records the launch breaks, so we won't have long to wait for something official. According to them, "best-selling" is best, "fastest selling" is something of a marketing smokescreen, and no announcement at all would signal an actual issue.

Impressive, considering that it had no big 3D Mario or Zelda game in the launch lineup. I know that Mario Kart is a very strong IP, but still...

According to some reports only ~1.2 million were available for the Japan market at launch.

Seems weird when the shelves are still packed as here and you can walk in and get one anywhere, I know they region locked the Japanese unit to be cheaper but thought be more supply then that.

Zelda is my fav game series ever, but I think MK might be bigger. Especially when it comes to sales.

Gaf is out of touch on a few things, but one thing people seem to be consistently off about is the popularity of online games

Bought one yesterday and I didn't even want one. Just saw the opportunity and bought it thinking I could decide later if I wanted to keep it. Sitting in a box right now in my kitchen not even opened.

I do believe they would've sold everything they managed to ship, but even then 3M sounds bonkers..

If that's true we shouldn't have to wait long for confirmation from Nintendo.

Problem they have imo is they released a lot of wii and wii u games on the switch to pad out the first party stuff.

I feel like that well is dry now outside of full blown remakes.

I think well see a lot of last gen third party ports filling the gaps and a lot less first party this time around.

No way we see a mainline Zelda until 2030 for example imo
They have the largest roster of in-development first party titles ever. On the Switch, they released exclusive games pretty much every quarter. And they can still do remakes, which they certainly are, because of the success of Mario RPG.

They have Donkey Kong, Kirby Air Ride, Pokemon Legends, and Metroid Prime this year.

And they have juggernaut system sellers like Smash Bros, Next-gen Pokemon and Animal Crossing around the corner.

3D Zelda will take a while, but they also have 3D Mario, as well as 2D Mario and 3D Zelda.

And then you have an large selection of games like Luigis Mansion 4, Fire Emblem, Splatoon 4, and Monoliths next game.

And this is just stuff we know are coming. They will have no issue producing games for the Switch 2.

This all sounds great and a genuine question. How many internal studios do Nintendo have?
