Nintendo allegedly sells through 3 million units within 24 hours.

There's a part of me that's worried about the success of Switch 2 for the gaming industry. If it succeeds, then the floodgates will be opened for $80 games, bad business practices, paying for instruction manuals, overpriced accessories, more anti-consumer policies and an even harder push for all digital. If it fails or even performs very average, then Sony will have a strong monopoly on console gaming leading to more anti-consumer tactics, higher prices and no competition. 😧😪😦😭

What's the comparison, is that good or bad
Well the previous record seems to have been the PS4 which sold 1M in 24 hours so the Switch 2 has tripled that. I don't really remember the PS4 being supply constrained. The OG Switch sold 2.something million in it's first 4 weeks.

The Steam Deck has sold roughly 4M units since 2022 so the Switch 2 has sold 75% of the units the Steam Deck has sold in 1/1201 of the time.
