GameRush F'ING sucks!

You know I love a place with GREAT service....

Rant ahead:
So I go and reserve my copy of Day of Reckoning 2 through a trade-in deal at GameRush. I ask when it'll be in. "Sept 2nd".
A little late, but ok I guess... I got it cheap.

Well today (the 3rd rolls along and I finally make the trip 2 towns over to pick up my game. It's been in every other store for a week now.

Here's a segment with thecounter monkey:
"Hi my name is JAson Christner, here to pick up a preorder of Day of Reckoning 2"

She runs my name through the computer and goes over to get it from the release drawer. It's nowhere. She proceeds t look it up...

"It's delayed"

Me, confused. As ti sgame's been out a week.
"How can it be delayed, every other store in the county has it? They've had it since Monday or Tuesday."

Her;
"I really don't know, and I don't know if or when we'll get it in."

Me;
"Excuse me? Well can I just get something that's actually in here?"

She goes through and tries to transfer the credit.... doesn't work. So she calls over the sawed off little prick manager.

He proceeds to tell me that I CAN'T transfer over the credit because I made a trade-in to acquire said game. At this poitn I'm getting PISSED.

He then goes on to argue some more with me about it. I told him I've done this before because of your shitty distribution.

He looks at me oddly, then asks me to out the clerk who did it. Then he looks it up in my account.

All he can say is "This isn't transferrable, you can't transfer the credit"

More pissed.
"Ok you said the game would be here the 2nd, here it is the 3rd, and you don't have it and have no idea when you are going to get it. If at all!" Now you want to tell me if it doesn't come in that I'm screwed?"

He then says, yet again;
"It's not transferrable." Maybe we can take the $29 of credit...

Me;
"Whoa skippy, I traded in for a $50 game, and I am goin to get a $50 game. Not $29 worth of credit. If I do that then I'm out $20" This goes back and forth for 5 minutes with me getting more and more pissed because they can;t deliver a product that was promised and not offering a fair alternative. I stormed out of there before I did something that I may have regretted. If it weren;t for their deal (which seem to be MIRED in legal red tape now) I wouldn't even bother.
Hell, it's not like I exploit their deals. I don't flip games, I don't do more than I'm supposed to. I go about 25 miles out of my way because up until this point the service was great. Not so much anymore...

Basically it's going to end up with me calling the district manager and filing a complaint. At the very least they could have CALLED and said the game was delayed before I made the jaunt out there for nothing.

This is why I always call to make sure a product is in before I go to pick it up.

Well you could have called as well. 25 miles is quite a distance to get one item. I always make sure an item is in stock before wasting gas and time to get to some far away store :P
I feel for ya, gamerush may have excellent deals but thier game selection sucks compared to other stores I've shopped at :P

Did your phone come without a dial pad? You've got all kinds of problems.

the real problem with Gamerush is that they only (from my experience) have one or two actual "gamerush employees", and if they aren't there, you have to put up with regular BB employees who dont' really have a clue about what they are doing, especialy with regards to trade in deals. STill, the deals are so great i can put up with some clueless employees.

They said it woul dbe in on the 2nd, and every other retailer in the area had the damn game for the better part of a WEEK. Why should I have to call?

Hell GameRush doesn't even call you when the game your ordered comes in, let alone when it's "delayed"

sounds like the suck... gamestop always calls me before something i preorder is in to remind me...

I've transferred my credit many times, so that is bs. Bitch until someone who can do something does.

Their supplier is crappy, it's seperate from the company that gives them their rental copies (?!?). Many times the game you've reserved comes in long after the copy on the shelf for renters. Nintendo games are the worst for some reason. They don't even get the rarer titles from Atlus or most fringe stuff.

Anyhow, these things are part of the price of doing business with GameRush. The bonus is their deals and savings. If it's a game you omfgwtfbbq can't live without right away, spend the bones at one of the other sad sack gamestores.

Lost 150 in credit because of assholes at gamerush so i dont go there anymore. And when they eventually got the game in the game was marked down to 20 bucks. By that time i had argued and pissed on so many fuckers at Blockbuster i'm no longer welcome at one store.

Even calling up a regional manager did nothing. I'm still out 150 bucks worth of credit. God forbid i get suckered into going there again to preorder my games again.

The problem with gamerush is that if you have two or more stores they wont just give you credit so you can take it to another gamerush to get the game if its in. Which is bullshit, they know damn well they can do it.

Hence why B'z is without 150 bucks worth of games that he traded in.

If only they could have fixed my problem i would probably still be going there right now. But nope.

You should aim some of your anger towards yourself for not calling to verify that the game was actually in before driving across 2 towns to find out.

No.

He should just take his business to a retailer that doesn't suck a fat dick and gargle cum.

It's not at all unreasonable to expect a game you pre-ordered to be available a day after launch, barring a publisher delay.

Uhhh. I always get my credit put on a gift card. It doesn't sit on my account. That way I can use it at ANY BB/Gamerush for whatever I want. If it's sitting on your account you can't use it at any other store since their computers are not linked in any meaningful way.

When I use trade deals at GameRush I know full well that they usually have the game in at least a day later than everybody else, if not more. You get what you pay for. If you're a cheap-ass, then you better also be patient because you can't have it both ways.

As far as the increased "restrictions" such as not being able to get $50 credit when you only used $30 to pre-order a game, that only makes logical sense. You're not out $50 since they gave you that discount to pre-order that game. If they wouldn't give you the $30 that would be another matter entirely. They are a lot more strict now across the board. You may not have abused their deals, but there were so many other people doing it that they had to do something.

For any of the trade in deals they require you to have the money on the account you cant have it on a card. Since it has to be paid for. Kind of fucked up especially if they never get the game.

So the giftcard thing dont work.

Uh, yes.

It's called common sense. There are things beyond anyone's control that could delay a shipment and YMMV depending on any store's distribution or supplier. He can take his business to any store he wishes but NO store has a flawless track record of getting EVERYTHING on time. I've pre-ordered countless games over the years and some, for one reason or another, got delayed but I always had common sense enough to call to verify is said game actually arrived before wasting time and gas to find out the hard way.

We are very saddended that you couldn't get your game, sir

all i can say about gamerush is that they're awesome. looks like you had a bad experience, but you really should have called first. not because you shouldn't be notified that your game is in (and how would they notify you if it wasn't in anyways?), but you are mad that you wasted your time. you should ALWAYS call no matter what.

when i went in to buy resident evil 4 they had 4 in stock. i didn't have a preorder, but i asked the guy if i could buy it. he is new and starts to ring it up but the manager says "those are for preorders, i can't sell it to you". guess what? i'm fine with that. i didn't have a fucking heart attack or ask to talk to his general manager or whatever. shit happens, and it's not always their fault. it's my fault for not preordering. its your fault you wasted 30 minutes of your life or whatever by not calling.

just because you preorder a game that is scheduled to be in-store on september 2nd doesn't mean that it is guaranteed to be there. a lot of things can happen to prevent a game from arriving in the store, things that the gamerush clerks cannot control. they should have switched your preorder for credit but its no reason to ruin your day arguing with them. just a videogame chum!

It's called common sense.

Common sense dictates never doing business with a game specific retailer to obtain X game, as TrU and Best Buy will always get them in on the street date(barring actual production end delays), or well before hand to distribute on said date, and have plenty of copies to go around.

I'm still not fond of game specific retailers, but Gamerush has earned a special place in the shriveled black pit where my heart used to be because it's just so god damned awful. To recap my Bujingai pre-order woes, they only ordered enough copies for their shitty rental section, and couldn't even give me a fucking answer on if they could obtain another copy for me within seven business days. What kind of shithole operation are they running?! >:|

Ummmm, sorry man but it sounds like you made your own problem. I always call or they call me. My Gamerush has been gold compared to where I used to shop *Sounds like CB* :p

Anyway, I am more than happy with them since they give me the best trade in values by far, I mean I got $35 freakin dollars for my Doom 3 and I also got 10% more for NCAA 2005 becuase they'll be anybodys trade in by 10% I used those credits with the Trade 2 get a game for $29 deal and got Lock down for almost nothing. :D

To counter you thread title "Gamerush rocks" :p Ok ok, corny but I have no problem with them.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not defending Gamerush in any way here but this thread wouldn't even exist if a simple phone was used. You have every right to feel the way you do towards GR and I vaguely remember your story but he honestly should've called regardless which retailer he chose to do business with, especially if a decent sized trek is involved. That is common sense anyway you slice it :D BTW, I don't know which BBs and TRUs you frequent but the ones I visit usually get most games a day or two after specialty stores like the EBs or GSs due to shipments hitting central distribution centers before the actual B&M stores. Major releases (ala Halo, Madden) are sometimes the exception......sometimes.

Why should I have had to call? The game was in every other retailer...including a K-mart across the street for the better part of a WEEK! And we all know that K-mart is a shithole joke of a chain.

Every other game-specific retailer makes it a point to call you to let you know your title is in. It's common customer service, if there's a problem... call your customers who preordered before they take the trip on the pre-set date to pick up their product.

Hell I even gave them an extra day by going on Saturday as opposed to Friday. The point being is that their customer service (it's probably just this store) is shit with the exception of one guy. When you promise a product and have it bought and paid for an you can't get it, there should be a fair alternative. Especially when you can't even say you'll actually get it in.

I really shouldn't have to call. They have MY money (granted it is trade credit, but still) the responsibility is on them to inform their customers that the product is not there on the 2nd.

I was in the area getting work done on my car, so the trip isn't what pissed me off. It was the manager being an asshat and not offering some sort of solution without sounding like a condescending douchebag.

I feel bad for the people who got fucked out of their Mario Baseball as well... same situation.

you shouldn't HAVE to call. but what i'm saying is the smart thing to do is always call, regardless of what you assume will happen. there are no guarantees of anything. you might say "oh i saw it at kmart they must have it" but what if the truck that was taking the games to gamerush that day got into a car accident? what if the store was held up at gunpoint and the games were taken? you just dont know. i concur they SHOULD call and keep you updated as to the status of your preorder, but the bottom line is they don't so you need to always take the initiative to make sure your product is in stock.

Just as an update. It's now the 8th and they STILL don't have the damn game in stock.... ergh. I have a pre-order slip just sitting here waiting and they wont switch it to a different preorder.
