Games you remember, names you don't

If I get this, I'm going to be so chuffed.

I reckon this is Super Solvers: Gizmos And Gadgets. Even if it's not, my hunch is that the protagonist is indeed the Super Solvers protagonist.

Edit: Just checked some images to remind myself of more of it, and this is a dead giveaway I've got it:

DUDE! I remember loving that game as a kid! Not sure if it'd still hold up, but man that gave me some nostalgia.

I have to say, I've encountered several Super Solvers games, and they really are very solid as games. Indeed, the most criticism I can level at them is that I'm not quite convinced they work as education!

Does anyone remember a German RPG for the PlayStation 1? Most of the characters were gnomes I think, and there was a theme of magic versus modernity. It was in ugly 3D, top-down, with equally ugly pre-rendered (I think) backgrounds.

Anyone know what that extremely stylised game is called where you investigate a ghost ship?

It was black and white if I'm not mistaken. It's not out yet (you could freely download a beta).

Ghost ship and black pearl doesn't give me any results. It's driving me mad. What search term am I missing :(

EDIT: Keelhauled!

A PC game that had Diablo/Divine Divinity looking graphics, and you started off on a farm or something, maybe at nighttime, and it may have been set in space.
It was on a disc with loads of different demos, like FFVII, Battle Pets, and this 2D fighter with robot dogs.

I only played it for like 10 minutes, and it may have had Home in the title. I may also be remembering it completely wrong because it would have been like 15 or so years since I played it.

Ok, this game is from probably 1989-1994...

I think it was a NES game, but it could have been SNES. It was definitely on a home console between NES era to around 1994.
You create a underground path through dirt and such, and make a path for I think a boulder or something to travel along? It is a side view perspective.

It is not the following : Dig Dug
Boulder Dash
Little Nemo the Dream Master
Lemmings
Spelunker
Mr. Do
Digger T Rock

Any ideas at all?

Please help me on this one GAF.
A PSX game where you play as a pink haired girl who are tasked to take care of the house while her parent away. It's a simulation game where you determined her schedule and upgrade her home furniture while you're at it. At the end of the game, you're score will be determined by how well you manage your schedule and house improvement.

Another one is an open world/sandbox type of game played in 1st POV. You can walk around in town and also use a car. (sorry for the not so clear details}

Both of them are JP game btw. Thanks

Never mind, i manage to find the name of the game.
First one is Milano no arubaito, while 2nd one is Germ nerawareta machi.

Dink Smallwood sort of fits.

Need some help.

Old theme park building game. I remember you could build custom go-kart tracks and that there was a ride that was a big monkey that has arms that are swinging bananas.

All I got. >.<

Super longshot since you provide basically 0 details, but possibly Heretic Kingdoms?

For some reason Septerra Core comes to mind. The 2D fighter is probably Battle Beast.

The only other game with digging that I can remember right now is SimAnt, and there was a SNES version.

Here is a tough one. A game I have been trying to find for years. I have lost hope of ever finding out what it is, but here goes nothing:

- A Commodore 64 game. This I am quite sure of.
- You played as a triangle shaped ship(?)
- When you encounter other ships, you go into some battle type screen.

I honestly cannot remember at all what type of game it was. It might have been puzzle game for all I know.

Technomage?

Yes, thank you! I only really wanted to remember it to post it in the thread called 'Games so Medicore no one talks about them ever anymore'.

Did you play it yourself? What did you think? I don't think I got much further than the first town. I've just watched a bit of a LP on YouTube. The graphics look like a really weird blend of sprites and polygons, and the English voice acting pops in very unfittingly.

I remember this point and click adventure game, I think it was about a guy that worked at a pizza place, at one point you had to trigger the fire alarm of a store lightning a match to get the store owner to come out or something, it was released around 1995 I think. Sorry but I remember that much...

Yeah, I did play it a bit. It is indeed a perfect fit for the Games so mediocre thread ;)

That would be Bud Tucker.

Woah. I think I actually was able to figure it out myself. It's Paradroid.

Seems like my memories weren't too off. It wasn't triangle shaped ship, but the battle screen has triangle shaped stuff in it. But I clearly remember that map.

Has anyone else played it?

I actually thought of Paradroid because of the battle detail you mentioned but thought it must be something else.

Anyway, Paradroid is pretty much one of the C64 classics. Strangely I never ran into the game back in the day but have played it in recent years and it's a very interesting concept. The premise of hijacking other higher level droids by hacking them is a really unique idea, one I think should be explored more. It's kind of like the stuff you can do in Messiah or Omikron, but the point of the game is leveling up by hijacking enemies of higher levels. There's also a game for the 3DO called Immercenary which I think takes some inspiration from Paradroid's leveling system, seems pretty cool but have never played it.

Now, it only fits some of what you describe (it's definitely not set in space, but that's the bit you're least certain of), but it's about right for the era: The Horde?

Tower Defense before Tower Defense was really a thing.

Edit: Oh, you'd already seen the answer. Yeah, Dink Smallwood was an interesting game for a couple of reasons; one, it was a servicable game design tool, as well, and two, it was by Seth Able Robinson, who long-term BBSers might recall was the creator of Legend of the Red Dragon.

Need help with this one it was a game a lot like river city ransom because the characters were very similar and the gameplay also it had 2 player co-op I don't remember the game because it was Japanese ):

I hope you guys can help me out find this game.

Back in 1997 i was playing zsnes on my home computer in South America ( chile to be clear ). Since i got some games from a friend who had "fast" internet at that time, i got to play some games i could never get my hands on. I even had an adapter for my european Snes in order to play the US games from there. Well back to the game, at the time i was a huge SQUARE fan since every rpg they made was golden in my book. I searched the disk i got from my friend and found an RPG that was very strange.
It was only in japanese and it had i think 3 storylines ?
one of those was playing as a neandertal. They did not speak but expressed themselves by icons. If he was hungry , meat would show up in a speach bubble.

tldr : Square game i played in 1997, Snes game , propapbly 3 storylines with one of them playing as a neandertal.

Heres hoping you guys can help me out on this one, since it has been bugging me the last couple of years ^^

Definitely sounds Secret of Evermore. Was quite a late SNES release; I think it came out in 1995. You start in a prehistoric era (where your dog takes the form of a big wolf-dog), then go to the Roman-esque era (I think the dog looks a bit like Anubis here?), then the Medieval era (pink poodle here) and then the space station (it becomes a cyber dog-toaster). Great game. The protagonist was a young blonde kid, and the first weapon he gets is a bone.

Here's a walkthrough:

EDIT - still such a great soundtrack.

River City Ransom is part of the pretty large Kunio-Kun/Nekketsu series by Technos, so it could be any number of games, but it might be Nekketsu Kakutō Densetsu (arena brawler) or Downtown Special (River City's feudal Japan sequel). Hardcore Gaming 101 has a nice list of titles to help you out.

There are quite a few Kunio-kun games, so it could be one of these:

Heeere I am. :D

Paradroid is one of the best games ever. :)

No Triangle robot in-game, yet there is plenty of triangle-shaped robots in the robotpaedia of the game.

Also, try Paradroid 90.

Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkEBccMEhXs

It's pretty simple, first you choose a side (you're always yellow, it's just if you prefer left or right). The triangles on the edge of your side indicate how many influence points you can use on the hacking grid. The point is to have more yellow than purple blocks in the middle of the screen when the timer runs out. You also need to take advantage of the dividing paths (yellow bar dividing the line into two) since they automatically influence two blocks with one point. I can't quite remember what's the deal with the hatched lines, I think they indicate that you're both influencing the same block, but can't remember what determines who'll dominate that block. Also, I think you get more influence points by controlling higher level droids.

Sorry nor this one :D since this game made it to Europe aswell. Btw I love that game to death even though some seem to not like it since it's not secret of Mana :p

I think the game I played did not even get a release outside of Japan. I played a Japanese version of that. I hope somebody can help me.

Well, it's not a great help, but the character/style from River City Ransom is Kunio-Kun - it appeared in a number of games of that era - so that's the terminology you'd be looking for.

Take a look through here, and see if something sparks some neurons.

Edit: Hah, beaten, with the same links as well!

dont know if that game was even released outside of germany.
friend told me about it.

I paraphrase:
you owned a shipping company.
there were pirates and there could rates appear on your ships.
and you had to/could controll your ships and drive them into the harbor.

Seeing this thread reminded me how I mentioned a very vague description of an old horror game, set in a house, in first person view which I loved...and a fellow Gaffer replied back with Realms of the Haunting and was spot on! Was pretty amazed.

Anybody remember this First Person game for early Windows or maybe even DOS? Engine was similar to Wolfenstein 3D (flat walls, no elevation), but very cartoony. It took place in some garbage dump like setting (with open skies) and it involved the player having to pick up different kinds of trash while avoiding enemies (giant geese?) throwing garbage at you. Not sure if it was possible to fire and take out the enemies yourself so I don't know if it was an actual FPS or not.

Anybody have any idea?

OK one I've gotten stuck in my head is from an old demo CD I had in the mid to late 90's. Its a FPS with I think 5 playable characters, they may be like bounty hunters or something, each one was a different race (I think) and had different weapons, I only know the first stage and I'm fairly certain it was on a spaceship/spacestation.

Racking my brain on this one, I know its not much to go on, but any ideas would be awesome.

PC? System helps a ton if you can remember.

Sounds like H.U.R.L.:

This might possibly be Tai-Pan. Note that there's two different games that share this name; the earlier one was pure strategy, the later (late 80's?) had direct control.

Edit: Here is the Mobygames page for the later release.

I'm trying to remember an Arcade game, I played it in '89 or '90.

It had an isometric view, a cartoon style of being in a sci-fi spaceship, lots of gray walls and purple/green aliens, I think it had things like brains in transparent globes on robots. There were lots of enemies on screen at one.

I remember there was a crouch button. I kept getting killed because of short cart-enemies you shoot over if you don't crouch.

I can't wait for my memory to have massaged something awful into a masterpiece.
