Turnstyle said:Sorry, should have made that clear. It was graphical. It played a bit like a point and click game I suppose
mclem said:It wasn't any game I knew, but with a bit of poking around and following a few likely leads I stumbled on The Detective Game - is that it, by any chance?
Turnstyle said:YES! That's the one!! Thanks. Excellent game, with an apparently iffy title! Might have to fire up a C64 emulator to give this one a run through again.

singularity said:ok, here's one. If it's answered correctly, I might not even know it because it's so muddy in my mind. All I remember is this:
- played it circa 1990-91
- was, I think, an import. I think it was played on a Famicom system, but I'm not entirely sure. Could have been anything (most certainly not a Genesis/MegaDrive though, or Super Famicom).
- was a top down shmup
- was co-op, in that two players could go at the same time
- definitely wasn't character based, so it wasn't Ikari Warriors and its ilk
- I remember some powerups and a boss, but, really, what shmup didn't.
???
Niblet said:2nd game should be way easier. It was a PS1 game based on Greek mythology. It had a top down view. I believe you played as hercules. The art style was definitely not something befitting the great pantheon of Greek gods. I believe there was one big overworld map and
you went around completing objectives, possibly to open up more of the world.

FrancisH said:There was a game I used to play on PC when I was little, no idea of the name and my memory of it is sketchy.
I know that you had to use command prompt to start the game (well, thats how I was taught to anyway...) and that it came on a floppy disk in a big box.
The game itself was about some guy (i don't think it was a robot guy just a gun wielding dude) that had to kill things in a 2D high tech looking place.
You would have the room/area thing and then when you get to the other side it would change to another room area (not smoothly scroll but make a whole new background).
I think there were power ups and stuff but thats all I remember.
Also IIRC a taxi driver that we knew gave it to me...:lol but we don't know him or anything about him anymore
Anyway if anyone has any suggestions on what this game could be/is then that would be so damn awesome! I did try looking before but I quickly gave up hope so I hope this thread will reunite me![]()

mclem said:Well, this isn't helpful, but I'm sure I've played a Rome game that was just like that, quite possibly a sequel. I think I played it on an Archimedes, which heavily narrows down the number of titles to look through; I'll have a search.
Edit: Arcventure! Okay, it was helpful after all; just had a flash of recollection. I remember at the time that I originally thought the start of it meant "Archimedes", it wasn't 'til later I picked up that it was "Archaeology"

I remember them showing this clip of a game think it was on the snes but I may be wrong!!
It was about a boy sleep walking or something and you were a dog, you had to stop the boy falling off the edge of cliffs and also hitting things by blocking his path with you(the dog)...... Think it was some kind of platformer.
Never ever seen anything about it again, been through loads of games and lists still dont know what this game was called!!!
Dear Gaf please help (this has drove me crazy for years, no joke)

Hmm. Possible! It seems more like what I was thinking than Zanac. Looking at YouTube, level 2 seems pretty close to what I was imagining in terms of setting/palette.andymcc said:crisis force?
Half of that sounds like Winback, but wikipedia doesn't say anything about amnesia or zombies.Nolan. said:I keep remembering this game that I think was on the n64 but don't remember the name. Though as far as I remember you wake up (probably with amnesia like a lot of games) in a bunker or something and for the length that I played it I don't remember ever having the character go outside. I think you also get a lot of your information from tv broadcasts, I think it was a 3rd person shooter and the enemies were either robots (because I seem to remember floating oval lazer shooting things) or zombies. You went up and down ladders and across these lab like walkways, it all had the feeling that the character was somewhere hidden and secret. I really don't remember much of it as it's been a long time but thought I would try and see if anyone can remember (even with the little info).
Anyone?radjago said:Last week I was in Micro Center watching a guy play a game on a 360. It looked like a typical beat-em-up with one character taking on a couple bad guys on the streets. Definitely made by a Japanese developer.

Rastan Saga II?Pylon_Trooper said:EDIT: Might throw this one out there, but it's vague as hell...a mere distant memory dredged up, circa 1990.
It was an arcade machine game, either a side-scrolling beat 'em up or a fighter...and the only thing I can really remember about it was some sort of Medusa character, or an echidna woman...half woman, half snake. The graphics...gawd...if memory serves correctly, sort of like the horrific Sword of Sodan on Genesis. The medusa/Echidna woman was most likely an adversary; while I didn't play the game, I think the main character on screen was a fellow, either Grecian or quasi-Norse.
Very vague, and most like the memory is distorted, but it's been on my mind since then.

I'm looking for a game development sim where you run your own game company and develop games and consoles. Its freeware by the way.

Sit down arcade game, i'd guess circa very early 80s.
All i remember was that it was something like Space Invaders (at least, there was some sort of alien shooting), and you had four "bases" at the bottom of the screen (not barriers!) that were armed with bombs.
The panel infront of you had four red buttons which you used to set off each of the bombs.
I think every now and then a mother ship would float across the screen.
Can anyone help ?

- Late 80s arcade game
- Side scroller
- Dragon boss at the end of every level
- May have had the word ´´Black´´ in the title but maybe not.
Apparently you´re right. I don´t remember there being a dragon boss at the end of every level of Black Tiger, though.mclem said:My money would be on Black Tiger.
