This better not affect Silent Hills as that's one of my most anticipated games. I am not a MGS fan but I need Silent Hills. Hopefully they keep his team contracted to finish that game before they leave. I love Del Toro and with this and his other horror game he had in the works with THQ it seems he's not having much luck in getting a game out.

The real question is if he and those that follow him end up with Sony, Microsoft, Activision or EA.

Slim chance of that happening.

You don't get to the position he held for so long then take a step down when you move on to another job, you move either up or laterally, the only logical step for him to take is to start his own studio.

I feel like the drugs people have to be hopped up on to seriously believe Microsoft is going to make investments in Japan and Japanese game devs should be so potent they'd prevent people from posting on the internet, but it seems like we've gotten quite a few of them today!

Microsoft BOUGHT a Sakaguchi owned studio and financed his games, and this was when Sakaguchi was a bigger name (in Japan) than Kojima. It failed. The Xbox One sold just a hair over 50k consoles in Japan. It's one of the worst console launches in ALL OF VIDEO GAMES. If you think Microsoft is going to just spend hundreds of millions of dollars to finance Kojima's games, build a studio for him, etc after all of that... You bought the wrong console and I'm terribly sorry.
Microsoft did not buy Mistwalker, they just signed a deal for 3 exclusive games (the last one was cancelled), and the two games they released were made by two different developers, Mistwalker was just "directing" these devs.

I'd be happy if Sony hired Kojima and his devs to make Sony Japan strong again.

Hope Take Two grabs him, with their tech and their approach to developing game it could be an amazing combo.

How would he mesh with their culture? Then again they seem to be free. I mean they put out a ping pong game... Certainly they would let Kojima-San do whatever he pleased...

Also - correct me if I am wrong but I thought on one of the metal gear solid 4 documentaries be basically says that his coding and programming sucks and he lets the more talented people bring his vision to life. If this is true, your buying an army not just a general :)

imagine kojima working with R*.......most likely won't happen but it would be awesome.

Kojima wouldn't fit there... individuality is non existant in R* games, same with Assassin's Creed.

He'd only be fine with his own studio, being the creative mind behind the projects and making the script.

Boss, you're going to regret this!!

Can someone Kojima my avatar, please?

Kojima's days as a salary man are over. He goes independent or nothing. A bag of cash is a nice house warning gift for new independent studio, however, with invisible strings attached naturally.

Metal Gear is, bar none, my favorite videogame saga of all time but honestly, I'd be happy to see Kojima and co. make something other than Metal Gear, which is why I was so excited about Silent Hills.

The biggest question in my mind right now is what's going to happen to Silent Hills if this is all true. I hope we can get a statement about the future of that project soon...

Hopefully Kojima starts his own studio, hires a lot of the people from KojiPro and they go on to make some new, interesting IP's. This may be a blessing in disguise, I want to see Kojima not be shackled to Metal Gear anymore. Based on the awesomeness of Snatcher and Policenauts, he has so much more to offer.

If they need money I'd throw some cash at them on Kickstarter without hesitation.

Konami are now going to let this IP go to waste along with all the other IP's they own aren't they?

My avatar need some kojimafication

Someone please Kojima My avatar please!

I'm on a roll. Though I will be taking a quick break after these two.

I agree that whoever offers him a deal needs to do so with an offer for everyone else as well. Kojima can't be Kojima without his team, and those people will be left out in the cold by Konami otherwise.

It was actually just two games (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey). The 3rd Mistwalker 360 game that got cancelled (Cry-On) was 100% 3rd party.

Welp. So MGSV is truly the last Metal Gear. No way Konami will let him bring the IP with him, but there's also no way anything Konami tries will be comparable to a Kojima game.

edit: also can't wait for the making of bluray in the ce. Wonder if they'll include any of this mess in it.

Hey Sony, time to form a new first party studio. I hear a lot of talent just became available.

You may jest but who would have envisioned Michel Ancel setting up a new studio with Sony to make a PS4 exclusive?

Microsoft have the deep pockets but Sony's Playstation developer portfolio must be an extremely attractive asset to have when luring developers.....,

All this is providing that Kojima doesn't go to EA of course.

Who owns metal gear?

I lease mine.

Konami are now going to let this IP go to waste along with all the other IP's they own aren't they?

Nah, they'll release a new Metal Gear game for
tablets.

Crowdfunded?

He's a big enough name to not necessarily need that, at least to get the studio started, but he's also a big enough name that is associated with titles that are such ripe fodder for crowd funded "spiritual successors" that he could pretty much fart the words Snatcher, ZoE or MGS and immediately hit the stretch goals, among which getting Hayter as a voice actor would surely end up.
