Well shit, I'm guessing Konami is pretty much done with AAA game development. Maybe they're going to cash in on some of their properties with quick easy free to play mobile games.

I think this is the case. Their presence at E3 last year compared to 2013 may have been a good indication. In 2013 they had a very open booth with tons of Metal Gear and Castlevania footage playing. 2014? Completely closed booth with nothing going on. Like they just set up a token bit of decoration since they had already paid for the space.

Dammit, P.T. showed that Silent Hills could have been an amazing experience. Now it's on shaky grounds.

A bad scene all around.

Eh, fuck Konami. They ruined Silent Hill and now any chance that series ever had is dead. There go two of my favorite franchises.

I bet Kojima's inbox is being flooded with emails from publishers, both eastern and western, saying "Hey, have we got a deal for you".

What time is it?
Crazy. I wonder how all of the IP will shake out. Good luck to Kojima and his team. They will have my support.

In regards to the Kojima Productions news and Silent Hills: that game is part of a deal between Del Toro and Konami, not Kojima. -@PCBrown

Koji Pro was making it though. Who cares if the game is still made, without Kojima involved I'm not gonna buy it. Fuck Konami.

Silent hills......

My heart can't stand this after having seen a glimpse of light at the end of the dark, sad tunnel Konami has built for the franchise in the last 10 years (a tunnel which brings you right to the Toluca lake BTW)
Buuuuuuuuuu!!! :'(

Wow, this is just crazy. It really speaks volumes that they felt the need to remove his "A Hideo Kojima Game" from everything.

I wonder what the fallout was about.

HOLY SHIT! What's next for Kojima then!?

Something new, which is very exciting. I've been waiting for him to move on from MGS since MGS 3.

But I think the most pertinent question is, what's going to happen to MGS now? I really hope they can sustain the quality of the series after Kojima leaves.

I have a feeling Kojima got mad because they're taking away the spotlight from him, so he left. This is actually good, I'm not a big MGS fan, but Kojima is a unique director and free of Konami, interesting things could be coming from him.

Konami on the other hand will move further and further away from videogames.

Kojima was all that was left at Konami that I cared about.

Now... nothing. Fuck what Konami has become. They will kill MGS by either not making them or making complete garbage without Kojima.

I guess Silent Hills isn't happening :(

Sony need to jump on this quick and offer Kojima a job, and buy up the FOX Engine.

From Konami? It was developed by KojiPro but KP was/is still a subsidiary of Konami. Konami owns it unless there was some weird clause in Kojima's contract entitling him to full ownership rights to the engine.

Goddamn...Konami really are the fools.

I'm going to take a guess. They're old-minded. They don't like that Kojima is practically the studio at this point. Sure, they have stake in different businesses, but to many people Konami is synonymous with Kojima. So on eve of Kojimas biggest, most ambitious title....they take aim to take control over his creation. By removing Kojimas brands from the title of the game(Both KojiProd and 'A Hideo Kojima game') as well as going back and removing reference to him from older games covers, they're hoping to create a power vacuum where they will be seen as creators of MGS. Fuck Konami. I hope they rot after this.

It's disgusting. It's something the Patriots would do. Go back and remove parts of history in order to shape the future.
That last part is my paranoia.

Kojima Production to me was everything that's worthy of Konami. Actually I think it's pretty safe to state that KP was the only value left in there. I really want to see how things will turn out if this rumor is true.

I can see KojiPro surviving as a independent developer similar to Platinum games, Publishers will be lining for a game made by them.
