Fuck...this really depresses me about Silent Hills. Kojima will be fine -- he's a fucking rockstar, but SH will probably be changed. :'(

OK so, Konami is going to need cash soon with their big money maker leaving so to gain some quick cash they SALE the Silent Hill series to another company. Who then produce a new game.

We can hope.

Imagine if he's granted the permission to promote the game at E3 and then opens the lid on Konami's bullshit live on stage.

I'd bet Konami hasn't been fully invested in publishing games for a long time, now.
Konami and Sega have found success in slot machine development.
Sega hasn't gone to Americas yet, but Konami has.

I know most people here are just video gamers, but yeah.

How long until we have a Konami/Hudson IP fire sale? Because I sincerely don't believe they'll hang on to gaming much longer. (And I also don't believe that they'll decorate their gyms with Castlevania/Metal Gear/Bomberman branded weights either.)

Never been a huge fan, but it's sad to see such an important IP in video game industry history essentially die like this. RIP Metal Gear Solid.

So Kojima's Metal Gear canon ends with TPP.

We'll have Konami's hot shit afterwards. It will suck to see the MGS legacy being ruined though.

It didn't get reported on much, but this Kojima thing is just a couple days on the heels of the Love Plus director bailing on Konami too.

Sounds like this is part of a major shift with Konami to just bailout on consumer video games. Either that or their big wigs decided they don't like having their game directors speaking for themselves in public so they just canned them all. I think the first is more likely.

Well that's that then.

He would have to start his own independent studio (unless he wants to retire) I don't see anywhere else he could go that isn't a major step down from the position he's held for so long.
