Gay marriage salt thread

It is sad to see, on a few different levels.

1. His parents are likely assholes.

2. Internet videos live forever. He's too young to be allowed to make such an ass out of himself for everyone to see.

3. "Gay people only want "gay marriage" so they can destroy the Catholic Church" ? He didn't come up with that himself. He's regurgitating something he heard an adult asshat say.

4. "All religions need to team up so we can "change" gay people" ? Wtf is this shit ?

Yet, they love rainbows..

I hope to god no one decides to go full martyr mode a shoot up a wedding or something, but shit way this is playing out it feels inevitable.

I'm not gay so I'm not as hyped about the new supreme court ruling. However my favorite part is the extreme salt that this brings.
https://youtu.be/Y7_tGAxWJWA Here is a "funny" one of a guy saying that this ruling is Obama's first step in the christian holocaust. Get ready christians, because something that has nothing to do with you (unless you are a gay christian) is going to bring about your death at the hands of OBAMA! I would love to see more salt.

I am a devote Christian and i couldn't care less about ANY of this because the way i always felt is that what is between a person and his/her creator is none of my business, nor any one elses business. The new law should of been in place eons ago...it's "Freedom". A win for all Americans!

That's what is so shitty about this. I probably said the same shit when I was his age because of the household I was raised in. By the time I was 21 I would have been absolutely mortified by that. So glad Youtube wasn't around back then :x

To be fair about the salt, this is basically America telling religious people their religion, something they base their lives around, is wrong. You'd expect them to be mad.

[---edit, maybe not quite that far]

It's also going to get blamed for unrelated incidents in the future, which is going to be nasty.

Well, the way i feel is that we all need to be "peacemakers", the world needs more of us. I just don't agree with any kind of bashing of what people do or believe in. Not saying this thread is hypocritical as i know its all in fun here but i would like to think those of us that believe in "freedom and equality" already know that bashing Christian folks, at least the good one's, would be counter-intuitive and hypocritical to bash those of strong faith. It goes both ways, ya know. If we are gonna stand up for something, do it with gusto and not selective cherry picking, my 2cents.

God Bless

my roommates had a zombie themed wedding. It wasnt in a church or anything of the sort. Just a very small short ceremony in a local meeting hall. That marriage, entirely independent of religion, is seen as valid by the govt so why the heck not grant that right to all citizens? Its such a simple concept. It is literally one of the simplest concepts imaginable. It is literally people ashamed to admit a hangup and usig every excuse in the book not to have to deal with it on any level. It is straight up cowardice dressed as concern. It is fear dressed as dogma.
ha. It's nice that we can talk about it in the same sense as we can segregation, now. An irrational imposition spawned of thinly-veiled hatred and prejudice, now a relic of a bygone era.

Unfortunately something bad is bound to happen, but it's part of social growth.

I've heard the argument against gay marriage, that it would "cause more intolerance and hatred towards gays/lesbians", and that's probably true in a lot of ways.

But that's the sacrifice a group has to go through to become a better, more appreciated group. It's that sacrifice a group has to make to work towards a better future. Gays have been going through it for decades. Blacks for centuries. It's a long ass road to walk, but luckily they'll never have to walk it alone again.

May have been posted by RWW Blog on YT is a great place for reaction videos.

This Todd Starnes clip is not so much salty as just fucking stupid and bizarre:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmuC5X_RwYw

"The Supreme's Court decision means gay rights now trump religious liberty."

I don't even know what to say.

Imagine for a second he was right. The answer would still be, "so?"

Religious groups already enjoy special status, tax exemption and are able to run fraudulent scams on the elderly using public and private airwaves, in full view of the law, without providing a single atom of evidence that their church is founded on any factual basis whatsoever.

Effectively they are demanding that the law also incorporate their hateful and irrational Mumbo jumbo. Or at least the parts that their hypocrisy finds convenient.

Enough is enough. Shut your fucking pieholes.

It's funny seeing all the pseudo-libertarians suddenly clamoring for government to stay out of marriage, whereas before, they only cared about it in passing, and tepidly at that.

Ah, implying gays and lesbians are paedophiles. That's some good old fashioned bigotry.

I know I've already said this once today, but you missed the following parts where people told him that it wasn't equivalent because children can't consent, and then he said children could consent, and then people asked him if he had something to confess and he deleted the tweet.

nah thats not what he is saying. He is saying if we allow gays to marry next is allowing incest to be legal and other slippery slope arguments with no foundation on factual evidence other than fear and speculation.
They fear that it will lead toward legalizing:

incest - but a child is not a consenting adult. Never happening.
bestiality - but an animal is not a consenting adult
object worship - same thing

The only thing that can be argued is polygamy, but that presents a whole number of legal challenges in itself.
Any other form of marriage is not between two consenting adults and is therefore invalid before the govt. But same sex marriage is two consenting adults with an agreement to spend their lives together. All combinations of the are now equal in their ability to get married and have the governmental advantages and benefits of doing so.

So many of these rural individuals have never experienced life outside of their homogeneous small town bubbles. They've never met a black person, a jew, a muslim, an atheist. They don't understand how to separate the civil institution of marriage from the religious ceremonies they attend in church (even though the entire reason why witnesses are needed is because they are necessary for the government to recognize the marriage as valid).

If people are rainbowing avatars here I'd like someone to make my slowpokes rainbow :o

Maybe a different colour each slowpoke?

EDIT: NVM think I've got it sorted.

I'm glad YouTube and social media wasn't around when I was in middle school and high school as well. I'm sure my friends and I would have had a bunch of fun with it, but there would no doubt be some stuff that I'd be embarrassed of today.

They are people like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvVAV09-dQ8

I think they mean well, but their meaning and intentions are founded upon a very small extremely focused and static way of thinking where they absolutely cannot see beyond "I was taught x so x is how it absolutely must be all the time"
It does not occur to them that people are completely different in cultures and traditions and beliefs and that their way is but one of many in the grand scheme of things. This actually blows some peoples minds, like the girl in that video. She literally cannot comprehend it.

Im happy that this got confirmed by the SCOTUS, but didnt really care either way. I must say, its pretty sad all the posts about drinking rage tears, you really arent any better than the people you're shitting on.

Why would you be happy if you didn't "really care either way"? Marriage grants non-trivial rights, benefits, and protections to couples. Had the ruling went the other way, states would deny same sex couples those rights without any rational basis.

The objection to same sex marriage is based on nonsense and it is not harmless. The meltdowns and insane rhetoric thrown by religious nutters are entertaining to witness. The ridicule is warranted. Finger wag all you want if it makes you feel better. It suggests a lack of perspective.

Oh I see, at first glance it looks like the same tired argument about not letting gays lead a Boy Scout troop or Russian politicians and media telling gays "Just leave children alone" and the obvious inferences. I didn't realize it was "but next people will be marrying their dogs!" type of slippery slope fallacious argument.

I was happy when I heard the Warriors did something to commemorate the ruling on their facebook page and expected some salty salt in the comment section. And boy did they deliver...

The Russian dude makes me wonder how many of those comments are actually from the bay area/America. Anyway, I'd like hop on the rainbow bandwagon if anyone is nice enough to make me an avatar.

"You should have kept it to basketball and not political issues". Funny how people only trot that out when they're confronted with views different from their own.

"Don't get political"

Reminds me of the whole "shut up and sing" backlash against the Dixie Chicks for their condemnation of Bush and the Iraq War, while those same people gave a pass to all the pro-war sentiments echoed by country singers during that time.
