Gears of War 4 NVIDIA Error Promo Keys From Amazon Mass Revoked

I'd just initiate a charge back if I were you, I'm seeing red flags pop up.

Problem for me is I did f/f gift on paypal :( can't really do a dispute...I know I know, we shouldn't do that...but I've requested gift myself when I've sold stuff, and I've given them to others without issue... :( /sigh

Participate on a grey market without consumer protection at your own discretion. Hasn't this always been the case?

Honestly, I just wish people who got burnt would stop pretending they were a legit customer anyways and excusing it. Between publishers have authorized sellers, the continual warning of purchasing from non-authorized sellers, and then some how trying to justify it as games are too expensive. So it's not your fault and they should honor it. Sorry, this is no different than buying a scam ticket on the corner, then bitching at the band for not letting you in.

You weren't a customer at all. Amazon, Nivida, and MS did not see a dime of your money. So when you say they are fucking over customers, I'm confused at who? Surely they must have received money at some point of the purchases from you, your seller, the seller's seller, etc rather than fraud Credit Card info.

anyone bought from this guy got a refund?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/201674401339?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

sent him 2 msg and no response.
I got a refund from him, although I'm still waiting for the Paypal eCheck to clear. If it doesn't then I'll take it up with eBay. Don't bother with messages, simply request a refund. You can do so by going to your "My eBay" and then going to your "Purchase History." From there, find the item, and on the right-hand side you should see this:

"Request a refund" should be in the "More actions" drop-down menu.

People gotta know that deals like this are YMMV, it's why I'm sceptical about specific deals/glitches/messups . I hope everyone gets their refund and those that don't get banned from gaf or whatever with karma going their way.

Yup that's what I did.

The seller still has to confirm a refund with this, right? You're not "forcing" it?

Yeah, its the same as going buying something from somebody who stole something.

Granted it's understandable to be upset that you didn't get a great deal, but it's ridiculous to act like Amazon, nvidia, or MS owes you anything.

Damn, some people feel they're entitled to get reimbursed by Microsoft when it's not their fault, and they have rights to revoke codes when it's being handled illegally. It was supposed to be given to GeForce 1070/1080 owners for free. When people abuse it by getting hundred of free codes and resell for profit that's actually against the policy in fine print people don't bother to read.

People should have known/expected those codes they got via grey market for super cheap may get revoked. I'm on Microsoft's side about this, they don't own you a single penny. This should be a lesson for everyone.

Not to mention that almost everybody here should be able to get a refund.

I agree the entitlement of expecting MS or nvidia to pay for their fuck up is just asinine.

Amazon messed up, Nvidia and MS did nothing wrong.

But regardless... oh well. I once bought second hand Adobe software that was physical with a box... and they wouldn't let me activate the code because I hadn't gone through official channels. That was a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for the help guys

I'm glad the ebay seller turned down my $15 offer, hah. I thought it was a legit code too since nobody knew about the Amazon scam at the time.

Did the math on an ebay seller who was selling them. Out of the ones they sold 73 had sent feedback for them. At $34 a piece they made $2482 before fees. Hopefully everyone who bought 1 gets a refund.

FWIW I'm not sure how it works on american ebay but if the seller doesn't respond to the refund requests, ebay will step and automatically refund you. If he doesn't respond, the refunds will go on his record and if these refunds amount to more than 2% of his total sales (# not value) he will have some pretty severe restrictions placed on his account. So there's something at least.

Havent heard back from the guy I bought it from on ebay, I had purchased it before the amazon glitch came to light. Hopefully I get a refund soonish, I'll put it towards buying it on the Singapore store.

My seller contacted me on eBay saying his was legit and were from Microcenter and is offering proof of purchase. The game is still in my library and I'm still downloading (slowly, it keeps getting stuck)

My eBay seller refunded with no fight. I'm going to do what I should have done from the start and buy it digitally at full price. Not only am I going to buy it, but I'm going to buy the $100 version as an apology.

I bought 2 1080s but it seems impossible to get this thing to work.

The first retailer refused to send a voucher due to this mess, and the code I got from the second retailer was revoked.

Nvidia tells me they can't solve this, so who can?

Like they always say: "if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is"

Do they also say "when a download code is being included in a bundle with another product you should expect that people will be selling their key for reasonable sums less than retail"?

I paid $35 for my code and it was a day or so before the Amazon loophole was being widely advertised. I assumed $35-40 would be the going rate for a key given how PC people generally feel about the Windows Store. I guess it was just too good to be true, and isn't to be assumed that it has anything to do with supply, demand or simple economics on many people's part :/

Same here, I regretted my purchase the day after I found out about the amazon thing.

BernardoOne hasn't gotten back to me yet since last night. He seemed like he was going to give a refund, I didn't respond until 12hrs later. I'm hoping he's just busy, he seems cool and apparently bought the codes he was selling off someone on reddit. Feel bad that he may be getting shafted, but I also don't want to be out $35.

Like they always say: "if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is"

I've bought a dozen or so nvidia/AMD game keys, all for pretty cheap, and this is the first time its been revoked. I bought it as well a few hours before people started realizing it was basically amazon being scammed. None of my other keys have ever been revoked, so it is actually pretty rare for this happen.

I got star citizen for $1 from newegg, hitman for $15 from eBay, Rise of the Tomb Raider for $15, Quantum Break for $15, and so many more. Zero problems.

So the record is still pretty good, but I only use eBay since they will refund a digital purchase no questions asked.

I've bought dozens of keys during these promo deals and this the first time something like this has happened. Everything would have been ok if Amazon had not screwed up. The keys going for $10 were definitely too good to be true, but around $30 is common.

Yup. A big issue here is that people who activated an Nvidia key from this batch that got revoked can't activate another, even if they just purchased a card. The system thinks that they already redeemed that promotion (even if it was disabled) and doesn't let them activate the new code.

Anyone else besides me buy it from the guy on Reddit, but using the storefront that was setup? I filed a complaint, will escalate it within a few days if he doesn't respond.

I don't feel sorry for you.

Sorry about this. I pinged NVIDIA with the above. They should be able to help out with this and I'm not sure if this Rep is aware.

Thanks

Any fix for this problem?

Shit, I'm about to be in this situation. I hope there's a fix before the game is out.

What a bunch of bullshit. Stop blaming people at the end of the chain for this stuff. Those folks don't deserve to eat shit because they didn't know Amazon stupidly fucked up the distribution of their codes, and then a bunch of sleazebags decided to flip those codes.

People should not have expected those codes to get revoked because by and large Nvidia codes that get sold are not obtained and then sold at massive markup from egregiously mishandled transaction blunders on the part of the retailer. These revoked keys are failings on the part of Amazon for not locking their shit down, and the assholes who sold them for 35 dollars when they got them for free to blend in with people who got their codes Nvidia codes legitimately. Those people who "should have known" were in a position of being unable to discern codes taken from Amazon preorders and actual GPU purchases, of which there's nothing unethical about buying.

Yeah....this is really ruining my day that I bought one from a crooked member of this forum who is being shady as hell too. Never seen something like this happen. Mods don't give a shit, and the community in the b/s/t seem to not give a shit either. Buyer beware.... ha. No consequences for the asshole keeping my money.

I paid for my key with through steam by trading steam keys.

Then key was revoked and seller deleted his reddit posts and struggled to remember his name on steam. Then remembered it, messaged him, and he wouldnt refund me, said basically not his problem and his is working, blah blah

Then remembered, the steam authenticator hold for 2 weeks on the trade. So cancelled it, and reported him. He wasnt happy after I cancelled, he started messaging me.

At this point, I'm pretty sure he's not refunding. He's been posting on GAF all day. It's a lesson learned. When I found out about the amazon thing, I sent him a message asking him where he got the key from and he didn't answer.

Play anywhere is causing so many cheap "Xbox" codes. I like that.

I don't like MS trying to mitigate this. Lame af move imo

So even people that actually puchased the card are getting screwed? I guess they can refund the card and rebuy it and get another code. This is a big screw up on amazon side, if the numbers are in thousands I think amazon should just swallow the cost. It's not like nvidia pay ms 60 per code anyway, probably 25-30 in bulk.

I think he means that if you used a code that was subsequently revoked, of you get another trough legitimate means it won't work.

Yeah, I've noticed he's been on the site plenty since my last message to him where I said "That is not my problem though, you go after your seller for a refund all you want, but I expect you to uphold your responsibility as a seller to me regardless if you get a refund from him or not." and he hasn't responded in hours. I am really pissed at him so much.

Sorry, what I said was kinda confusing, probably.

What I meant was that people who purchase a new card after having already activated one of the keys that were revoked will not be able to redeem their new key because the system thinks that they already own that promotion.
