Gears of War 4 NVIDIA Error Promo Keys From Amazon Mass Revoked

Why the hell are there so many people picking on the victims here??? God, you're all so mighty than thou, you act like you never made a damn mistake, when the person who should be mocked and picked on is sir_dany12 for being the jerk seller. Instead it's all on MY shoulders because I was supposed to take this as a "too good to be true" even though I've bought and sold codes for games and credit plenty of time without issue, and fear of it being revoked.

God, just wish people stop being jerks about this crap to me! I hate this.
Lol man just get ur money back and buy the damn game legit. Ooooohh i is a victeem of de circumcision.
Jk

i've lost money to a seller here (for like four years). i couldn't file a dispute because i paid gift so all i could do was leave negative feedback and be done with it. i was out some money but hey, it was a lesson learned.

I can't afford to just be out of the money with nothing to show for it...I bought Gears of war 4 because I couldn't resist...but in reality I need to be saving every other penny I have for a trip to Japan that I had been saving for. I skimmed a little just to buy gears 4 because yes, it was a good deal....but without it, it's a complete waste, and was taken away from my travel fund. To not even have what I paid for just drives me crazy...I want it back.

Anybody who paid PayPal with F&F, I would still contact PP explaining the situation. People were using their platform to sell fraudulent goods - it's not a good look.

You obviously have never bought anything from second hand resellers. I've been both a buyer and seller, recently sold a 970 gtx to fellow gaffer who didnt do f/f and i asked him to change it and he did. There was no way i was going to eat the fees cost.

I'm willing to buy things 2nd hand on the internet, but I sure as shit want buyer protection. This thread illustrates a good reason why. Buyer protection measures are a necessary cost of doing business.

What steps have you taken to get your money back?

ok. but you're not getting it back. maybe transfer some of the frustration you have to focusing more on saving for the trip and not buckling to buy discounted video game codes. $35 isn't going to make or break your trip

Dispute it with PayPal then. We all know you want your money back, but no one other than PayPal and the seller can do it at this point. You're gonna have to be proactive if you want your funds back at this point. It sucks that you've gotta do it, but time to get on it if it's causing this much stress.

What a shitty analogy. Your clothes still functions, his keys are revoked so they are useless.

Who wears shitty fitting clothes? It's a perfect anaology in that buying discount comes with inherent risk.

Normal fees are like 3% it's a total non issue for mutual safety and people that use f/f don't have a leg to stand on when they get scammed.

What? The clothes aren't defective, you ordered the wrong clothes. Jesus Christ.

Seriously? Clothes all fit differently and talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. The point is when you buy second hand/discount reseller there is inherent risk. The clothes could be not genuine, in poor shape, or just be a plain rip off that's the inherent risk of doing that. You accept it and move on. Blaming MS for actually wanting to be paid for their software is 100% ridiculous and amazon shouldn't be held responsible either since the codes were achieved through illigetimate means. Want 100% safety? Use the correct channels that offer buyer protection. This isn't rocket science.

I would still contact paypal if you used a gift payment. If you give them evidence the seller was asking you to send as gift and explain to them how Microsoft revoked the codes they may do a investigation on the seller's account, especially if they receive multiple claims.

If you used friends and family but paid through your bank, dispute the claims with your bank if paypal doesn't offer a solution.

Your analogy still sucks because you can still wear it. And if you can't you can still return it, there was no risk at all.

Sir_dany12 seemed like a grounded and decent individual from the conversations in the NXOE and Xbox OS Updates threads, I wouldn't be quick to think he's scamming people.

You're being purposefully obtuse. And no you can't return clothes usually off the internet from resellers and if you do it's a pain in the ass on eBay and have to pay return shipping.

Not that I necessarily agree with the point, but there's little more irritating than people quibbling over the accuracy of an analogy.

Well my good man. I would have to disagree. I think there are a lot of more irritating things. For example: babies in the rain, McDonalds and their constantly failing ice cream machine, Virginia humidity. I await your rebuttal!
I agree with you though

Lots of people use F/F to avoid the fees and it's usually fine. This is actually the first time it's ever not been fine in my personal experience.

If you usually avoid an accident while driving is it ok to take your seatbelt off? Same thing. Unless you know the seller personally you should always do goods and services. If you do F&F and get screwed.....what else did you expect?

Perhaps but unlike other gaffers here, he didn't give a refund yet.

We've been discussing this all day and he hasn't given a refund. Has stopped communicating. Has also not even show proof that he's waiting for a refund from whoeover he got the keys from. I don't believe he got those keys from anyone. He just doesnt want to refund the money.

Kind of shitty luck that we got keys from someone who does this. I'm not going to lose my head over $35 but it's shitty and just disappointing. I just wont be playing gears as soon as I want too.

If you are at that point when another buyer has to issue ultimatums then just bring up the issue in the feedback thread already, explain the situation and leave (negative) feedback so it's on record. Not every buyer is looking through this thread here, so not everyone can make a informed decision regarding purchases/the mentioned seller in the BST thread going forward.

That's pretty much all you can do at this point

Sorry, what I said was kinda confusing, probably.

What I meant was that people who purchase a new card after having already activated one of the keys that were revoked will not be able to redeem their new key because the system thinks that they already own that promotion.

It turns out this is not the case.

I had an eBay key that was revoked and have just redeemed a new key I got with an actual purchase.
After redeeming the code and logging into your Microsoft account, all you need to do is use a different email address when prompted. I just added a +1 to my gmail address and it all redeemed fine - it's currently in my library.

Some of the posts in this thread are embarrassing, I thought GAF was better than this. How can anyone blame MS in this situation?

The person I bought the key from on GAF is telling me that he bought the key from someone else who got it from Amazon. He wouldnt be able to give me a refund until that person gives him a refund.

That's not my problem. I didn't buy it from whoever he got it from.

That's exactly what you have to tell the seller, he/she has your money so why would there be a problem to give it straight back?

The onus is on the seller (who probably flipped it) - likely bought them for $7 on reddit at highest - so even then it's not going to cover the $45 or thereabouts you probably paid. Really naughty from the unnamed GAF seller. Hope you get a prompt refund with an apology.

*edit

Just read the last couple of pages. Damn, that's not good. :(

I never bought a key as I was away for the week around the time keys were being sold for $35 not knowing that people were getting them from fake orders on Amazon, but seeing the price drop down to sub $10 screams "this is going to backfire at some point" and I don't blame nvidia, amazon or microsoft nuking the codes.

Amazon do need to look into how their key system works, this has happened before i'm sure.

Another day and still no refund from the Ebay seller, seems like I'll have to wait the five days till I can contact Ebay directly about this. At least by then the review embargo is up so I know if the game is worth a rebuy or not, lol.

Yup doesnt help when the seller was also trying to buy Foriza Horizon 3 codes from other gaffers during that exploit the other day and told the 2 affected gaffers here they had to wait. I know detective gaf isnt good. but in this case it shows that something is messed up. They have the money to refund them if they can spend it on other codes from other gaffers.

Well i bought my code from a reddit user, who assured me it wasn't a generated code and was bought with his own credit card!!. The game has now disappeared from my games list, the seller does have a high feedback rating however!,i have contacted him telling him the game has disappeared and asked for a refund.....lets see if he obliges

Yeah, I don't understand the logic there. It probably wasn't even their decision. But I guess when people are upset a finger has to be pointed.

People who sold the code and don't refund the money or are stalling on refunding until they get their money because they flipped codes are beyond lame, need to take responsibility and do what's right.

FYI, basically anyone selling large quantities of same game keys in the BST thread is buying them from somewhere else, marking them up, then reselling them here.

Nor is it your job to wait on them either. If you can, file a complaint on Paypal and leave them negative rep ASAP. I have done a lot of buying and reselling over the years and never once, have I told a buyer, "Please wait till I get my refund from the one I got it from". Exact opposite. Me getting my refund has nothing to do with the buyer getting his refund. These are two distinct transactions.

So will it be safe to buy a legitimate key from someone who wants to sell theirs from their GPU purchase at some point again or will they just kill the promo for good now?

The nerve of sir_dany12...I am so pissed beyond words at him....no one should ever do business with this asshole.

his last reply is this "Im not ignorin you, I will not lose money over this. If you want to leave negative feedback, do it, thats nothing i can do to stop you from doing that.
Ill refund you as much as I receive from the seller."

He will not lose money over this...what a fucking prick.

I'd never do business with a guy like that. That's bullshit. When I sold my spare horizon code or when I sell anything, I leave the money in PayPal for a week or so, just in case something happens. Hope you left feedback.

TIP : Get a good credit card and use it for everything - gas, groceries, clothes, etc. - then pay it off monthly to build credit and get rewards points.
Use it for all risky purchases : Most credit cards you can file a dispute and they'll refund the money then deal with it for you, skipping any eBay games or similar situations.

If you went the proper channels (Microsoft's store, or used a credit card or Paypal) then you can get a refund, if not it's a lesson you've learned so move on.

You bought third party and there's a risk in that. If you paid with friends and family you've now learned what your extra money gets : Insurance.

We're not picking on you, we're saying be an adult and realize what you did wrong.

He could've refunded you the difference until he got his refund but he chose not to. He probably spent the profit on forza horizon 3. Did you use paypal credit or did paypal pull it from your bank?

Unbelievable. Just hit this person with the feedback so other users can see this

I'm doing that now. He's a fucking liar and a scam artist. Don't do business with sir_dany, the guy with the Max Payne 1 avatar.

I feel like he should be banned for being a fucking crook also. Even IF he gets a refund from his seller, and gave it to me...IF that happened, it sounds like he's only wanting to give what he paid for it, while he gets to keep the profits. What a damn thief.

reading this guys responses I dont think hes going to care if 1 or 2 people leave negative feedback. how many people bought from him?

What I am about to say has nothing to do with the transaction and I am not defending him on that, but you do know that private messages are supposed to be private, right? For example, if I was him I would've stopped communicating with you once I knew you'd plaster my private messages in a public form. Now of course you can use those messages as proof of your accounts with him, but I don't think you should copy paste what he said verbatim, at most you should describe in your own words. Because you have to think of the indirect consequences, now he's even less incentivized to work with you on fixing this, right?
Again I am not defending his actions, I am just talking in general, PMs should remain PMs.

His messages imply he has no intention of making good, and I want people to see what kind of shit he's been spewing in my direction. This kind of conversation should be public when he's trying to pull a fast one and steal other people's money.

That's fair, but why are you expecting him to do good on his word now? The moment you took this road, you should have expected nothing would be fixed because of they way you reacted disincentivized him.
Only do this as the last resort, after you have exhausted all other avenues.

A lot of us won't do business with someone who neg feedback. Outside of bernardo, I ignore anyone on that list.

Mono certainly jumped the gun earlier on with his reaction and the posting of the messages, but the guy did sell a product that no longer works and should be accountable for it. Mono also needs some personal accountability for this whole situation, but the seller catching feels because he didn't like mono's reaction isn't a valid excuse. Not sure why you're putting this on mono in this case. As a seller, you should have a standard that you live by.

There was no fix. He could've partial refund but he didn't. He's just trying to drag this on so the people who bought from him would just forget about it.

Ridiculous.

This is the most important thing.

Complaining in this thread is like preaching to the choir. If accurate feedback is not left, then the feedback list is worthless.

I'm assuming that positive feedback was left when the sales in question first went thru,so those impacted need to be sure to post in the feedback forum and message a feedback volunteer to make sure it is changed from positive to negative.

OP lost his chance at a refund, but let's be honest, the chance of that happening sounded very slim. I appreciate the quote from the seller. Nice to know what kind of person we're dealing with. I certainly won't be dealing with that seller regardless of if they refund anyone's money or not.
