The game looks way sharper and more vibrant compared to Tsushima even with shitty youtube compression. Those of you saying this looks last gen are high.

I think some people are going to be eating crow once DF do their analysis.

Looks great to me, I don't get all the whining. If they can keep a consistent framerate and high resolution, then no RT was a good decision in my book.

Oh no, the graphics police are here!

The contrast between the general comments here and on YouTube are pretty stark.
Youtube = full of bots, hive minded ppl claiming for likes every post.

Neogaf = bad takes everywhere, but ppl own their opinions, most ppl dont give a shit about likes.

i prefer Neogaf 100% over Youtube comments.

There's no question it looks beautiful, but look at the leaves on the ground and in the trees just as an example. The trees all look way more alive like the leaves are being individually manipulated in Yotei rather than being these huge brushes like in Tsushima. The draw distance is further, the texture quality is better. It's a step up all around. It may not be a huge step up, but it's definitely a step up.

I think GOY certainly looks better having spent many hours playing GOT, but I don't think it was ever going to be in the same vein as say, AC Shadows.

I honestly think that having more detailed visuals would be of detriment to the art style. I like the almost painterly look tbh. Lots of bold colours and sweeping vistas.

the 'ghost of' series is fundamentally 'stunning landscapes: the game'. i think they'd work just as well if sucker punch'd gone the afrika / hakuna matata route, & just had you wandering around with a camera snapping wildlife pictures...

A couple of flat looking areas, but all the open environments look absolutely gorgeous.

Love what they've done with the music too. The first one was no slouch either, in that department.

Looks like this shrine, which I thought was pretty flat in the state of play, got a nice glow up!

SoP :
  • Distant trees look extremely sparse, almost like LoD had reached its limit
  • Shrine is missing shrine objects
  • Lighting looks pretty flat and cartoony (may be due to ToD as well)

Now:
  • Distant tree LoD is exactly where it should be. Near complete coverage all over the hills.
  • Shrine has shrine objects
  • Lighting has more depth. Different ToD, so can't tell if it's better.
  • The rock textures have changed from their usual light grey. See bottom left near the roots and the little patch below the shrine

Screw the haters, this is looking great and I love whatever Sucker Punch does. GoT was too repetitive for me, didn't finish it but had some fun with it. Yotei looks like an improvement in many ways.

Can't wait to play it on my Pro.

Honestly, that could be kind of cool like what Ubi did with Odyssey.
I haven't played Shadows yet but I was hoping Ubisoft did that with Japan in Shadows. Like using a hawk for a Flight Simulator style flyover all over Japan, of the aerial views, then slow horseback riding for the grounded views.

Maybe Sucker Punch should consider doing that as a DLC or future update.

Oh, this is absolutely gorgeous. I would love a game mode where it's just simply sightseeing all of Japan.

Keep in mind that both Tsushima and Yotei are hyper stylized versions of their real life counterparts. They look nothing like the real world equivalent.

This is not a knock on the dev or the games, but it's not like GTA where you're like "hey I recognize that place".

True but they still use photogrammetry to some degree I bet. Before the stylization.

Maybe we'll need to wait for Forza Horizon 6: Japan for the more realistic locations.
