Spent the evening on this. I loved Wildlands, btw.
- Basic gameplay loop is basic.
- The "you're being hunted" thing quickly disappears and it's business as usual
- Spawning enemies and drones on your position is amaaaaazing design
- SO MUCH SHIT is locked behind microtransactions. Remember in Wildlands where you had millions of clothing options? That's fucking gone. Now it's money money money.
- Enemies have robots and drones and futuristic bullshit, but are so stupid they can barely dress themselves
- Oh great, another rifle. It's like the other one, but this one is a level higher. Better equip it and then customise it. <5 minutes later> Oh great, another rifle. It's like the other one, but this one is a level hi...
- Skill tree is pretty sweet.
- Sync shots are now a consumable item. Blech.
- There's some faction war thing? It looks like reskinned seasons from other games. "Do arbitrary shit we picked before December! get stuff from this reward track as you go! Stuff you had for free from the last game!". I assume there's a horde of 14 year olds that are really excited by that shit.
- Shooting feels good, animation bugs are plentiful, traversing the environment is spotty, vehicles are hilariously buggy
It's really just a more exploitative version of Wildlands with basic looter shooter mechanics thrown in to distract you from the fact it's just a more exploitative version of Wildlands. If you liked the previous game and have a credit card then you'll have fun.
