Doesn't look very good to me, except for Kate McKinnon who I think will probably be pretty great. The jokes just seem kind of lame.

The trailer is kind of confusing too because I understood this film to be a reboot, but it vaguely implies that this is an actual sequel with the "30 years ago" line. I wish they had just changed the fire station and the look of Ecto-1.....I don't think there's a lot gained by having them be almost exactly the same.

Doesn't look too bad. I'm still not sure I want to pay a theater to watch it, though. Remakes gonna remake.

Hard to say anything about a Ghostbusters movie based by trailers alone, in any case. The original had a terrible trailer too with none of the good jokes.

Really not feeling it.

My feelings as well.

Can't put my finger on why tho. I feel like a lot of these comedies follow a certain format with the joke types and the cinematography. The originals felt way more nerdy behind Dan Akroids, Ramis and Moranis script.

It looks i guess entertaining?

I'll echo that the cg looks meh. But i like the cast. I guess i'll wait to see some further impressions. I was excited since Dan Akroid said the beats of the movie script were there with some good jokes.

What's with all the cameos then?

They're playing different characters, I think. It's a reboot, Ghostbusters haven't existed in this universe before. The text at the beginning is just poorly worded.

Anyway, it looked... ok. Licking the gun was pretty weird, though.

Not really feeling it. The mix of sci-fi adventure and Paul Feig humor doesn't seem right.

That said, I have enjoy all of his movies and I like the talent involved so I haven't given up yet.

The comedy in this seemed very different in tone than the original... I'll check it out, but I wasn't very excited by this trailer.

Those jokes were....terrible. Not even remotely funny. Actually a bit cringey.
But I can't lie...I kinda dig the atmosphere and visuals and look of the characters.

Conflicted.
Pretty much exactly how I felt. The humor fell flat to me and didn't feel at all like Ghostbusters humor. I didn't laugh at a single joke, though of course it could be because a lot of it is out of context.

The ghosts/equipment/atmosphere looked pretty good. I thought the trap was pretty cool and I also liked the duel neutrino wand proton pack like they have in the comics.

Not sure how I felt about the Ghostbusters themselves, they seemed okay but it was hard to tell for sure with such a short trailer.

Yup, visually it looks great, I like Wiig and Mckinnon but not feeling Wiig in this. Humour was weak as well.

Hopefully the cameos are worth it.

New York itself has changed too much. It's lost that dingy quality. Now everything is slick looking and vibrant. I know it doesn't sound like a much on paper, but it was a big part of the atmosphere of the original. Crime was at an all time high, morale was at an all time low and the evil was feeding off it, unleashing ghosts. It was integral to the premise.

I hope the day comes when a film tries to recreate the hellscape of '70s and '80s NY since it's my favorite setting by far.

Looks better than the Star Wars reboot, but then again, it has better source material to work with.

I'm not saying that to troll for rage, it's how I actually feel. Ghostbusters 1984 >>> Star Wars 1977

I might go see this.

The thing that probably put me off most, silly as it is, was stuff like the proton pistols, but maybe they'll grow on me the more I see 'em. Otherwise, its a bit on the nose in trying to sell the credentials of the characters. Yes, its a trailer moment (I don't know if such comparable dialogue came up in the original Ghostbusters' trailers, I'll admit), but I don't think the original needed to sell the cast in a similar sense. Then again, I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing, depending on how they play with it in the film itself - the original cast were derided as hacks, turned out to be the only ones with any real sense of what was afoot.

Otherwise, I actually liked the comedy, particularly the idea that yes, exorcism just got a whole lot simpler.

This could be the greatest movie ever and a ton of people would still hate it. It didn't look bad, though. Looks like it will be mostly funny with numerous corny moments sprinkled throughout. But most comedies are like that.

Couldn't agree more. This feels like they didn't understand some core things of what made the original work in the first place. Movies like that get made in a vacuum - it's tied very specifically to a certain time and place and the talent involved. The original cast is gone, and New York (and movies in general) are a world apart from what it was back then. All that's left now is a logo, the theme song and probably some scenes that play out pretty much like scenes from the original. You can't just repeat that lightning in a bottle from the first time.

It's a shame because the new movie actually involves some talented people in their own right, but I feel really down about movies like things coming up all the time. It's all about the money.

Not feeling it and in all honesty that trailer is downright bullshit in the deception department. Its directly implying it is a follow up to the originals when it is not in anyway that.

I knew it would be great. Those sexist scumbags are what bring down society. They are childish men who think girls have chutties.

This was all I could think of when watching the trailer. Everything is just too... clean.

The jokes weren't that great either, but trailers are usually pretty unfunny, so I'm willing to withhold judgement on that part.

SW7 was pretty good though. I do agree otherwise. Ghostbusters played a much bigger role in my childhood than Star Wars.

Interesting. How high did you expect Spy's RT score to be btw?

I didn't get the high scores for Spy. When i went to see it the movie it was alright.. a rental perhaps, not worth my admission price, and i generally find McCarthy funny. My wife thought the same thing.

Nah son nah. The remixed theme sounded lame too.

Didn't care for the mix either. But im not a fan of that music to start with.

So storywise;
- We have a startup of scientists, whose main goal is to find and capture ghosts
- Right after they start, their services are needed, as something is triggering and increasing paranormal activity around the city
- They receive the help of a black person, who has no knowledge of hunting ghosts
- They get a run-down car as a means of transportation
- There's two really smart scientists who figure it all out, the third is just a so-so scientist

This all sounds strangely familiar, guys....

Hmmm

Not sure, nothing was too out right funny, nothing was too deadpan funny, nothing was a subtle joke it was a little bland on the humour so i really hope that wasn't the 'best' bits and they are saving some funny stuff

Thematic wise its very much a remake, despite all the random conflicting stuff, from the original statements of it being a separate entity that barely references the originals, its gone straight to what almost seemed like a fan made movie, and there are already a lot of Ghostbusters franchise movies, i'm kind of back to my original misgivings and wish they'd just gone to be a straight sequel, because from that trailer it seems they pretty much are.

"You white people may be educated and smart and stuff but just like the originals made decades ago ima be the token black person."

I'd argue its even worse than the original movies, Ernie didn't even seem as uneducated as that made her seem, he seemed to be an average Joe with later on a bit of an understanding* - hate to say it but it seems they went straight to portray her as loud dumb ghetto black woman, which is a terrible racist stereotype to go to for a cheap laugh

*the expanded media - the video game and comics even had him get a degree in the field so he was far from an idiot

This entire process has been a rollercoaster for me, i'v gone from being unhappy with the casting as i dislike McCarthy with a passion (hurr durr look i'm fat and fall down) and unhappy it was a remake with the only similarity being the name, to getting over that and thinking perhaps a reboot could be good and maybe with the right script a distant remake will either reinvigorate or be easily ignored, to having mixed feelings on it looking like a carbon copy of the film with altered jokes and an all female cast just because Feig has some weird female only movies fettish

I mean come on they even had a freaking Elanor Twitty Library Ghost with an alternate colour scheme with them basically doing a fan portrayal of that scene

I don't know what this movie is aiming to do now? be a slightly altered story remake?, a spiritual homage?

but i do want to see more, still want to give this a chance, i want it to be good, maybe this is a second Batman Vs Superman trailer type thing? bad trailer editing?

Thats the face of a sexist man child

Wait, why am I sexist? I think this looks great. I've been skeptical of the reboot since it was first announced. Ghostbusters is my number 1 most nostalgic thing ever, and I feel protective of it, yet I'm totally down for this.

SW7 was pretty good though. I do agree otherwise. Ghostbusters played a much bigger role in my childhood than Star Wars.

Same here. I made my own proton packs out of cardboard and construction paper and string. Everytime I played at recess in elementary school it was Ghostbusters. I never played Star Wars.

why is everyone trying to be funny? the whole schtick with the original gang is you had intentionally funny Venkman, sincere but unintentionally funny Stantz, straight-laced but unintentionally funny Spengler, and everyman Zeddemore.

everyone in this trailer is cracking jokes.
