Looks ok, not great. The ghosts looked pretty generic other than the grey lady knockoff in the beginning. Hopefully there's some more inspired design not showed in the commercials.

I kinda liked it but I'm not totally feeling it. Also, is this a reboot or is it in the same continuity as the originals? (Since the trailer mentions the original team)

I think the situation now is a little vague. It could be that the trailer text isn't meant to be regarding in universe events, but is pointed at the audience.

Yeah, it's vague. At first I thought it was pointed at the audience but then they follow it up with a shot of the fire station the original team used.

Absolutely loved it and i love the fact they are just going balls from the walls ghost from the start i can't wait to see it in theaters and hear a full version of that theme.

All the negativity makes me laugh.

Ghostbusters is a very 80s movie and trying to make/recapture that for today just wouldn't work.

When this was first announced they said it was a remake so not exactly sure why people expected it to be like the original two?
What gets me are the people who were just negative and hated it from the announcement.

But everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i think it looks fantastic.

Not sure why people are expecting tons of jokes, I didn't really get that 'comedic' vibe from the original.

If anything Leslies character comes across as a step backwards compared to Ernies.

Hudson played a common sense guy who just needed a job and didn't really believe the shit going on until he saw it first hand and his race was never really played up

Leslies character as revealed so far is basically look at the simple black lady doing stereotypical black lady behavor

This. I'm not liking people minimizing Winston. He was the best ghostbuster imo. His scene in the car with Akroyd was also the best dialog in the first movie.

Pretty much what I expected, but that's not a bad thing, IMO. The only problem I have is that, like someone stated, all the ghosts are neon lit. That and all ghosts are either blue or green. I wouldn't have mind the variety of the original series, with some ghosts tinted a specific color, others not; some appearing more human, others more "bizarre" and otherworldly:

Looks like Turtles 2014. Felt tonally totally off. Felt like a Bay version of Ghostbusters.

I'm out - maybe it's just the trailer that's this bad, but if the critics aren't exceptionally well for a reboot, I'm taking the cynic route, expect the worst and will not going to see it.
This has unexpectedly really dampened my mood. Ghostbuster is one of my favorite movies and this didn't look too bad from the first pictures.

Trailer needed more Kate.

Also, there will definitely be some backlash on the racial politics to this film. Other than that, I'm in.

HEY WOMAN

They're not the same character though. I get what you're saying but that's not really fair to the actress to pigeonhole the role like that

I mean, that's all well and good for the ROLE not to be pigeonholed, but don't pigeonhole the only black member either.

Eh, maybe it's just the trailer. I'm actually excited to see the film despite the tone of my posts.

I'm not too worried about the humour given how poorly Spy was marketed.

Those trailers were absolute shite and it was one of the funniest movies of the year

I was grinning throughout the whole thing, this looks so fun! What *was* in there I found funny, but I'm also glad they didn't give away a ton of the jokes, I hate comedy trailers that do that. I'll be going to see this, and I agree with all those who expect McKinnon as the standout.

"30 years ago four scientists saved New York"

Winston Zeddemore was not a scientist.

So not to be to toooo nerdy, but in the game (written by Ramis and Aykroyd) Winston mentions completing his phd... But yes, he was yet to be a scientist (or doctor)in the first one.

And its snappier to write "4 scientists" instead of "3 scientists and an everyman"

Don't know if I'm feeling it just yet based off the trailer alone. I like the cast, and the premise seems sound enough, I'm just hoping they can pull it off without making it seem too cookie cutter.

BLURAY.

My mom wants to see the movie, so it's a-okay with me. She kindly suffered my Ghostbusters love when I was young.

Looks better than expected, actually. The ghosts look fantastic.

I get the feeling this will be either too similar to the original film for some or not similar enough for others.

Winston was also relegated to being the uneducated off-the-street workhand with just enough, but not too much Blackness. Typical stuff for a white-dominant cast where skin color ratio seems to follow traditional patterns if you're not dealing directly with those issues, unfortunately.

Winston was originally planned to have a much larger role in the original movie because they were banking on Eddie Murphy taking the role. Eddie Murphy had huge name recognition at that period in time, and his character would have been there from the start and not shoved into the second half of the movie. But Eddie Murphy wasn't interested in ensemble cast roles, and he was looking to push himself further into leading role territory with movies like Beverly Hills Cop.

They went with a retaliative unknown actor with Ernie Hudson (I guess they also wanted someone that was an outsider to their group to make it feel more authentic) so they could focus on Murray, Ramis and Akroyd for the first half of the movie. Ernie Hudson wasn't even part of the early press releases for Ghostbusters and was absent from the pre-release movie posters just because he was such an unknown. Though to make up for this, I think Akroyd made Winston one of the first Ghostbusters you see on screen in Ghostbusters 2.

Looks good. That's a fantastic cast so I expect it to be pretty great.

The tone is all over the place. Is it a reboot or sequel? It reminds you of the original team..yet has almost the exact same makeup of the original team like a reboot. Same style car that is introduced as a surprise to the team by one member. It is almost like it doesn't know what it wants to be. Even the ghost in the library and the interaction is quite similar. The dual wielding weapons was a bit weird but I don't mind an arsenal upgrade.

I usually am super forgiving on movies and enjoy them for what they are. This trailer didn't even make me crack a smile. It doesn't feel needed I guess, comes across a bit lazy. But I love Ghost Busters so I will reserve judgement. Trailers can be misleading and vary in quality between them.

"The power of pain compels you!"

Uggggh, that is such an awful groaner. And that moment kind of encapsulates everything that looks wrong with this project. Slapsticky, self-aware, reliant on pop culture references.
