The reboot is about as fun as castration with a rusty knife.Saw it Friday and really enjoyed it. Love the first two but never saw the "reboot" because it looked not fun.

I wish I didn't know about the ending cameo. I'm still looking forward to it. It's nice that good sequels can still be made to old properties.

The reboot failed because it ignored the originals films. I've maintained for longest time it wasn't because "all women" as they wanted to point the finger(especially the actresses) at that as reason for it bombing. Even if they'd gone with all-new young *men*, it would've still faltered for the same reason.
Ghostbusters isn't a franchise that you can reboot without keeping it in the same universe as the original series. If it had done so, and adjusted it's tone accordingly, it would have enjoyed more success and I can guarantee that for certain.
It's a similar vein to Terminator or Indiana Jones, in a way. If it isn't Arnie or Ford, people aren't very interested unless you find a way to get them to buy into the passing of the torch done properly.
They didn't make Phoebe a Rey-esque character with immense knowledge without a reason as Force Awakens did. She has a background, a tie-in to the originals.
It's honestly pretty crazy that Ghostbusters of all things has quite possibly done the best job of any franchise in passing the torch to a new female character in just about any western media in like the last 10 years. Funny what great writing and acting will do for you.The reboot failed because it ignored the originals films. I liked the 2016 Ghostbusters. It had some good ideas. It had more camp which people didn't like.
“No, Ghostbusters II [is] definitely canon. There are references to Ghostbusters II in Afterlife. We meet Ray working at Ray’s Occult. The toaster from Ghostbusters II is in the kitchen in the farmhouse. There’s actually lots of lost Ghostbusters II details but nobody knows Ghostbusters II outside of Vigo the Carpathian and the Ghostbusters II logo. So there’s this assumption that it is not canon but it is definitely canon.”
The director was also asked about having the Ecto-1 in the film, rather than the Ecto-1A as seen in Ghostbusters II, with Reitman answering:
“I wish I could talk to you about that.“
Further pressed for an answer, the director slightly elaborated:
“Well, I’m just saying that’s a plot that is not in this film and we have ideas moving forward.“
The story goes Colombia got Reitman and the four together for lunch in Hollywood and they hit it off and a version of the movie was pitched to them there. When they started filming, it wasn't the movie they pitched at the lunch so Murray felt tricked.dn’t Bill Murray think ghostbusters 2 was shit, and thought he was tricked?

It may have been missing a sincerity to the acting. You really believe the actors are those people in the original Ghostbusters.
That's nothing. My ex-girlfriend looked, and sounded, like Gozer.Just got back from the flicks, yeah it was well worth a watch just to see the old boys at it again, the cold start proton pack, Ecto-1' siren, like being a damn kid again!
..And I own a cat that looks like a Terror dog
Did you aim for the flat top? That's nothing. My ex-girlfriend looked, and sounded, like Gozer.
Nice. That's nothing. My ex-girlfriend looked, and sounded, like Gozer.
Here is the spiritual successor to Ghostbusters.

no, only 1 big "trap" scene in the movie. Honestly if there is any real "flaw" i can give the movie, its that there really arent that many ghost in it. But they went more for the mystery/casper/goonies vibe so throwing alot of ghost in it would have taken away from that, and the finale comes up so fast that there really isnt any room in the film for alot of ghost.Does this movie have more catching ghosts in it? That was always something I wish was more in 1 and 2. Each movie had the 1 big scene, slimer in 1, scaleris in 2 but after that just a montage of them with smoking traps. I want more busting damn it!

It was great. Magical. It was shit.
Not as shit as the 2016 genital wart, but shit.
Thats fair.. but for what he's talking about with the normal ghost fight/shoot/trap sequence like scene, I think only #1 of your list falls into that. The other 2 are part of the finale, #2 was just a quick one, and the last oneTwo trap scenes.
Edit: No, there are three:
Muncher, Zuul, and Gozer.
I prefer the remake to this
Now this is just trolling.
You are not wrong, this felt like 3 scripts cut together. Still, it was awesome.SPOILERS
I prefer the remake to this, just can't shake how fuck all happens for most of the film, then the big bad just sits and listens to dad jokes then gets zapped straight away by some old men who appear out of nowhere in the middle of a farm.
If it wasn't for the good acting I'd have very few positives to say about the film.
Sucks everybody else loved it, makes me wonder what I'm not getting.
Like even Rudd's character is just odd, he's a thick lazy summer school teacher one minute, an incredibly smart geologist who came to investigate the quakes the next, then an idiot again.
Egon literally never saw his daughter because he had to sit around watching... What? Could she not have visited him or something, he even knew the years the event would occur as it was carved into the walls, there was no reason for him to be a hermit other than they had no better ideas.
Why does nobody remember the statue of liberty came to life?
Why did an apocalyptic event spawn like 5 or 6 crap tier ghosts, the fucking Titanic turned up in the original films.
I could go on all week with stupid shit this film does, it needed a bigger budget and a better script.
It reminded me of that shitty Super 8 film.
Pinky promise.
I remember Hemsworth being decent in it and it had some fun large action set-pieces. It's not a great film, but honestly this remake isnt either. I want action popcorn comedy, not family drama with 2 or 3 ghosts sprinkled into a 2 hour runtime.

I have a big list of gripes as well, some of these things were probably cut to be in any sequel.
Was the identity of the house ghost supposed to be a mystery? The chess bit, which ultimately was dumped for a literal "here is a picture of me!" reveal, made it seem like there was originally more to figuring out the ghost.
Why does igons baby mama get such a pass? She is like NEVER even mentioned or given a name. It ought to have been Annie Potts, right? The end credit sequence seems like it would have led that way. I figure they are saving grandma for the sequel.
Ernie Hudson bankrolls Dan Akeroyd for DECADES but can't even be bothered to look up Igon to check in or help the daughter? I think they added stuff for the old guys as the actors signed up.
Still, this movie was great.
I bet the sequel will have everyone move to new york from oklahoma, and will have to do with the return of the river of slime and of vigo the carpathian. Didn’t Bill Murray think ghostbusters 2 was shit, and thought he was tricked? I actually hope that the sequel has shubs, zulls, meketrex supplications, a sloar, and large and moving torb!
If only... As mentioned earlier, we got one prolonged ghost chase/bust. Technically two, but the target was the same.Does this movie have more catching ghosts in it? That was always something I wish was more in 1 and 2. Each movie had the 1 big scene, slimer in 1, scaleris in 2 but after that just a montage of them with smoking traps. I want more busting damn it!
I did, and the outcome was the same. I was witness to a feat of jaw-dropping acrobatics, and then blasted backwards about 10 feet onto my asterisk by some blinding psycho-kinetic energy. In the end, I got to keep the car, she left with the two dogs...Did you aim for the flat top?

Took the kids tonight. We enjoyed it. I missed the post credit scenes though. I can't find them online. Anyone have a link?

Eh. I have a hard time taking them seriously. Those guys are cringe levels of contrarian. Like angry twelve year old fanboys, only they're all in their 50's and out of shape and still dress like they're twelve.
What points that they made to you disagree with and find contrarian?
