Ah, I should have specified "Konami's efforts on PS2".

I really like Konami Hyper Soccer on NES, for example. ISS was alright. I played a lot of it, actually, both on N64 and GBC.

My gut tells me we'll see one of the greatest Brad filibusters ever, but whether he'll succeed or not...

See, I'm not so sure he'll be able to this time around. This isn't DLC of the Year, where only Vinny really cared. This isn't GOTY 2011 where Patrick and Ryan were on his team with Skyrim > Saint's Row 3 outnumbering Jeff/Vinny either.

It'll be one slice of bread against six other people who all want their pet games on the top 10 list, but the rest of the pet games don't have people who have loads of baggage with them. At a certain point you just vote past that shit.

It's gonna be wild, I can't wait.

I tried to play flute. I wasn't great at it so I had to stop after a few lessons. I regret not trying to properly learn to play the piano. It's something I want to do during my lifetime.

Dan's never eaten mushrooms? I absolutely adore mushrooms. They are so versatile and delicious. I usually sauté mushrooms every 1 or 2 days.

My step dad is the same way, absolutely will not eat mushrooms, but when he eats something with mushrooms in it unknowingly, he loves it. Mushrooms and pepperoni are GOAT pizza toppings for sure.

I ate pizza with mushroom toppings for the first time a few months ago. I was surprised that it was that good.

If anyone wants to extend some background theory on how the the downward pressures on oil prices can affect the performance of oil exporting economies in the long run, read up on the Dutch Disease and the resource curse.

I'll need to find some eggnog this weekend so I can to try it.

I mean, I see why, but it's kind of funny to me that Dan is totally on board with mainline MGS brand of absurdity but not with Rising, but Jeff seems half thrown out by mainline MGS but thought Rising was completely nuts in a good way

Dan, play Metal Gear Rising. The story gets totally nuts by the end. The last boss is such a fantastic character. And the soundtrack is fantastic.

I love Rising. I genuinely think MGS2 is one of the best games ever made, and MGS3 is probably better in every way, but Rising is my favorite Metal Gear game. I just hate stealth and love melee combat in games enough to make it worth it, and it's the first time that the Metal Gear story thought it was as dumb as I think it is.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Do it as a bonus series after you finish the mainline series. Kind of a de-cooling by drew to go wild and cut things.

Im pretty sure Dan probably played MGR to the end. Unless he said otherwise at some point.

MGS3 is my favorite MGS. MGR is definitely #2. It had all the things that make a Metal Gear game great, with a certain kind of tightness and joy that i usually only feel when playing Nintendo games. Considering the time Platinum had to work on that game, its even more impressive.

That game doesnt open up until the later chapters.

Id even argue it doesnt open up fully until new game + when you can use the items that give you the infinite energy and all that.

Yup.

Halo 1 and 2 was done by whoever did the 360 version Halo CEA

Halo 3 and 4 porting was done by ruffian.

United Front Games also did bits. And I guess 343 did something.


Not shocked that game turned out a rough.

By reports it was only meant to be Halo 2 Anniversary until some point earlier in the year when MS changed their mind and needed a bigger gun for the holidays and rushed development of the other games and tried to tape them together.

I was showing Rising to somebody who has never played a Metal Gear game before but I thought might like this one, and the reaction she gave was "Why the fuck do you have to talk to this asshole to save the game?"

Just before that, it was "This is why I don't watch anime"

To be fair, we had somewhere to be and I picked the wrong person at first so we had to listen to Doktor lecture us on torture porn for a few minutes before being sure the game was saved.

I mean, we didn't have to. But what am I going to do? Skip through Doktor lecturing me on the ethics of torture porn?
