For many of them, it's their first time being confronted with their privilege, and that's a tough thing to handle. So they deflect and construct some flimsy narrative. I've argued with some GGers who think video games shouldn't be considered art and shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone, that it should just be "fun". At least those people are consistent. But yeah, most seem to still want the mainstream to take the medium seriously and at the same time yell in the comment section of every piece of criticism that goes beyond what the gameplay should be.
I just can't fathom getting so angry over...nothing.

Twitch is often my go to solution when I'm bored. I scroll down the list until I find a game I'd like to watch. The weirder the game is the more it is interesting (potentially anyway).
I was following a dude who spent his days playing Flight Simulator X fucking hardcore... like with real people online doing the ATC and actual flightplans.
Those arguments are doubly ridiculous because they treat gaming as zero-sum. Major developers are banking more and more on safe bets and these new fronts are being best addressed by smaller developers--opening the door for potentially new major IPs in a stale landscape of very pointed properties.
But no, let's just have Call of Duty for 30 more years.
I would love to see something like the opening of Bioshock Infinite extended to a full game.

I could never get into 3, but 1 and 2 are still awesome. I play 2 more than 1, though, due to the extra features. Though, to be honest, I much prefer NoLimits 2 (and NL1). While it is far too advanced for me, I download the best things from that community.

Yeah. I'm absolutely loving Parkitect's aesthetic. I hope we get a Quick Look when it's finished. They could, theoretically, do an Unfinished now if they wanted.

I post on a sports forum that let's you get away with anything short of hate speech and posting porn, so it is a bit of a change from forums like GB and here, but as long as you aren't an asshole I don't see why it's so hard to not cause a ruckus on sites like here and GB?

Parkitect looks cool, although I'm not sure if I even need another RCT. I can already do everything I would want in RCT2, and the pixel art still looks beautiful. But it's good to see someone doing right by that series, since Atari sure ain't!
How's RCT2 on modern machines? Haven't played it in years.
The thing is most people are assholes and they don't try to hide it =_=

I think it helps that most of the people on that sports forum are pretty much 30 plus with even a few retirement aged posters, so that probably helps on the maturity level. It's weird going from a place like this where I'm right in line with the age of most of the people here, to being one of the youngest there.

Actually, Roller Coaster Tycoon World looks like it could be pretty good. Roller Coaster Tycoon Mobile is an absolute piece of garbage, though.

So true. I lurk (not so much these days but used to a lot) a New York Giants forum where it seems like the average age is about 50. Much different feeling than the gaf community.
