I mean I'm exaggerating a little, but when compared with just being able to hit F5, having to go into a pause menu to do it is kind of a hassle if you want to use it as a "quicksave" replacement. what's even dumber is that obviously the game has support for saving while you're playing (that's what the autosaves do) so not just giving you a key binding for save is dumb.
On console you can do Start -> Select as a shortcut to quick save, no idea how it is on PC.

TR reboot was kind of a bad game in a lot of ways, but it got the action right. which is amusingly not what most people want from TR.

it's less that the torture porn stuff "wasn't for everybody" and more that it was really out of place and usually totally uncalled for.

though that really gross underground area was fucking rad. and I'm still standing by my "possible best shotgun of the last 10 years" statement

Did people who are having trouble with The Witness play Talos Principle or Zachtronics games? Im not amazing at puzzles but Im making steady progress in the game since so much of it is just following a certain logic or theme, its not too hard to zero in on the solution

I like talking about The Witness and yet don't want to talk about it? The actual thread for the game is a hot mess, and every time I go in there I see something I didn't want to see.
Same, there's a bunch of stuff that I want to talk about but this thread and the OT aren't good places because one is off topic and one is getting real spoilery.

I beat the Talos Principle but I never did get very far into the DLC, on account of it being much more challenging.
And I really suck at The Witness, I can barely even finish the tutorial panels.

not playing Witness, but I have a feeling that I'd kind of tear through it. that's not an attempt at humblebragging or anything, I'm just kind of good at puzzle games to the point where I don't feel like I get my money's worth out of them a lot of the time. Talos was neat but super easy.

now, Zachtronics games... those things are intense. I want to play more Infinifactory, but the point in the game where I am now, the puzzles take me like 4 hours to solve and it's hard to commit to that.

Well I bought The Witness after all and I almost finished an entire area in no time. Maybe it won't be that hard for me.

I feel like The Witness is a lot more about inductive reasoning than deductive reasoning, if that makes sense. Which is why you can spend an hour making zero progress whatsoever and then suddenly blow it open once you can approach it from a new perspective.

The game is just fucked because you want to talk about it so bad, but you only want to talk about the shit you've witnessed and don't want to see what others are talking about. Fuck you Blow for making a game so desirable to talk about but so damn impossible to do.

TIS-100 is infuriating. Even more when you compare your results with others and their parallelization is better than yours.

I wonder if someone without the required background could finish it.

Someone should do a basic remake of the Snatcher, same graphics/sound etc. but with a bunch of interface improvements. Call it OpenSnatcher or whatever.

Maybe I should do that.

Is it worth Pming a mod about doing a spoiler free Witness thread?

That's a big reason why I haven't ventured in there or really anywhere about The Witness yet. The sheer amount of enjoyment from getting stuff right in that game has been amazing. Still, I'm constantly banging my head against puzzles I should be able to solve but seems to be missing some context or I'm looking at the wrong thing.

As for a spoiler free thread? It would probably end up being posts about liking the game and maybe saying "hey I finally cleared that one area" but nothing more meaningful. Puzzles are spoilers.

Did you check out the DLC? It's a pretty good challenge compared to the main game since it essentially starts at end-game difficulty.

I didn't, but even though the increased difficulty would be nice, unless there's a bunch of new mechanics in it, I think I got my fill the first time around.

Yeah, the fatigue started hitting me hard near the end of the DLC. I powered through to the normal ending but said fuck all to tracking down any more stars.

I only got a little into the
two colored lines and dots
section of the witness and can't stop thinking about it. I'm so happy that I don't have classes tomorrow because I really wanna get into this

Talos really wasn't that hard. I wish it had fewer, but more innovative puzzles. You can only do the Tower of Hanoi sequence so many times.

Yeah I really enjoyed the Talos Principle for about half the game and then it just kept going. That game just has way too many puzzles without enough variation. Brute forced my through to the end just so I could finish it.

The compressed video will make the difference incredibly negligible to viewers.

It's not that. The shooting in The Division is much better with keyboard and mouse because of the way the game handles recoil. On consoles the enemies seem much more bullet-spongy because you miss most of your shots.

Do any of them tend to play even PC shooters with MKB? I doubt it would matter, they'd probably use a controller for the video anyway.

Also keep in mind that Vinny definitely indicated that there'd be a GBeast stream on Friday.

So that's not on the schedule, but it'll be something.

Now is timely and looking at Jeff's PC play from Ghost in the Shell it would not make a lick of a difference.

Without wanting to disrespect Talos, what The Witness does with its chosen puzzle type is so much smarter and already more varied in a shorter amount of time compared to what Croteam packed into Talos.

While Talos showed numerous variants of leapfrogging-style puzzles (Tower of Hanoi), it really feels like The Witness is going deep on its line puzzles. I think this is what it means to really explore a design space and get everything possible out of a certain puzzle type while also marrying it to some bigger puzzle ideas outside of the panels.

Talos was good, but from what I've seen of The Witness so far, it truly is something special.

MPP and Demo Derby is what i want most right now. and yet, they're reading this and totally denying me this pleasure.

I really liked the concept behind the final section of the game, as kind of a culmination of everything you've learned, but it got so frustrating so fast because it suddenly added time limits. so every failed step in a puzzle meant redoing the entire thing over from the start, every time. so frustrating.

e: also American Truck Simulator is coming out soon, please Vinny

Yeah and I also felt the story payoff wasn't great. It kept building up and then it was like
"Oh cool I got out....that's it?" And then also the reward for doing all the hidden stars is you get to be one of his helpers or whatever they're called. IDK I guess I just expected more.
