Giant Bomb #19 | Patrick Wins 2-1

My own GB origin story goes way back to when Jeff had gotten fired from Gamespot. I had always read their site for news and stuff but never was familiar with their team or their podcasts, I was a ScrewAttack guy for that. And when Giant Bomb officially came out I remember thinking of it as a wiki site and didn't think much about it for years... until summer of 2012.

I was playing Skyrim one night and wanted to find a new podcast to listen to and ended up on iTunes popular gaming casts and there was GB. I had heard of them and decided to give them a shot. I still remember my first episode the Bombcast, it was an episode from July 2012 and Ryan was out so Drew was guest starring and it was the infamous "UVB-76 the Buzzer" one.

Since then I've gone back to and listened to every single podcast of theirs starting from Arrow Pointing Down to their most recent stuff (multiple times). Whenever I'm bored I'll just load up an old podcast from 2011 or 2012 and just veg out to some games. I regularly tune in to Jeff's mixer and have also been active in chat when watching Patrick and Dan's Mario Maker rivalry.

Been a premium member for 3 years now and it's my mission to meet these awesome duders one day at a PAX or similar type event. My wife associates pretty much all of my tastes with the GB crew and of course loves Vinny, as if any woman (or man) could not fall for him.

You know what we need on GB...........A space race!

Brad & Drew video series playing Kerbal, the Soviets to GB east NASA.

It would have to be Drew and Jeff. Drew because he could figure it out, and Jeff because he's said every time he's tried Kerbal everything goes horribly wrong.

In case anyone was wondering about This Year doing a best of 2015, the guy who runs that podcast posted on Twitter saying he no longer has time to do that podcast but hopes to return to it someday.

I have been a Gamespot guy before 1UP became my go to thing. Then Jeff got fired and I followed what he was doing from then on. So I have been a GB guy before there even was GB. Arrow Pointing down y'all!

I found one of their videos from a Google search. Thought they were funny and sporatically watched their content. It wasn't until I watched their 2011 E3 show live that I stuck around.

I actually never heard of Jeff or that Zelda nonsense until I began following Giantbomb despite being on Gamefaqs and Gamespot a lot.

Man, these origin stories got me thinking, 'cause I jumped in late. I want to say I was following some random search string and ended up on one of their E3 after hours interviews, maybe Jonathan Blow and Cliff Bleszinski? I'd heard of them from GAF, hadn't given it much thought. Must have been late 2013. Either way I lost my mind since game developers didn't ever talk like that, much less the people who interviewed them. So I went back and watched and watched and watched and here we are.

That's the most Jonathan Blow interview ever.

Edit: Double post.

Jade Empire was just so weird because it wasn't that other sites gave it too low of a score but that fucking IGN gave it a 9.9 which meant expectations went to shit for a lot of folks.

still dont know why they scored it what they did because that was awfully generous of them

Yeah Jade Empire is a great game, but not 9.9 great.

Bought The Long Dark the other day, checked GB to see if they ever did a video on it... and they did, way back in August 2014! Geez, time flies, and some of these games sure stay in early access a long-ass time. Great game though, and it looks like it's come a long way. It's not just another one of them survival games.

Yeah the story mode their adding seems like its going to be great, David Hayter and Jennifer Hale doing voices too I believe. Its definitley my favorite of the survival games out there now.

Guys, I really want another Bomb After Reading. The Beast guys should give it a try. They're all the reading type.

I kind of that if they do another one they stick with the Crichton theme and read Timeline. That I way I can be reminded how much I loved that book and how terrible the movie was.

I got it ages ago, back when it was pretty bare bones. It's a beautiful thing. I've not updated it for ages so intrigued to see how it turns out.

You shouldn't worry about how long the studio takes to set up. You should worry about Vinny taking vacation this month. I hope he teaches Alex or Austin how to record a quicklook first.
