Strafe to Witcher is quite a fucking leap.
I think it was just to illustrate how dumb those kind of lists are and how you can make them for literally every game if you cherrypick what you think is bad about it.

It was based on the way they were critiquing the game rather than the content of the games being similar. I was thinking about scrapping it and making a list for the FF7 Remake instead (As Myggen said you can do it with literally any game ever) but was too lazy to do it.

There is some sub-bass sound effect in this that is using my subwoofer a lot.
This post makes me conclude that you in general seem pretty aggressive right now, so maybe not just at Strafe.

Installing CSGO was the thing that made me terrified to go back to playing any shooters I played hundreds of hours of as a teen.
With that said I do somehow have Quake Live already in my library. Might give it a shot.
I haven`t called you dumb, I`ve just called those kind of lists dumb since they`re so reductive and you can make every game look terrible with a list like that!
I just get a pretty aggressive vibe from your last posts, but maybe it`s just me. Sorry.

BF 1942 just didn't have hit scan weapons. Goddamn I loved that game. I probably played that more than any other game.

Like I think Ultima 9 had online or some shit? And I remember my parents never paying for an online subscription for UO for me so I'd get a copy from Wal-mart, play for the free month with the code, return it and get another code because they didn't know.

Man I have no nostalgia for the expensive ass slow internet of my childhood. Taking days to download a movie on Napster just to find out that it`s some renamed German porn.
It's like I say about Everquest 1. It's a huge, formulative experience that I'm thankful to have in my history playing games and gave me some of my favorite gaming memories.
but I don't want to do that shit again.
I guess my perspective is that while I have some good memories of that time with LAN parties and stuff like that, I would much prefer to just grow up with great internet like today. On the other hand I am incredibly happy that I didn`t grow up with social media when I see all the dumb fucking shit I posted on obscure forums back in the day, and even on Facebook back in 2007 when I was a dipshit 21 years old. Having social media available in your teens, when it`s virtually impossible to delete stuff forever, is terrifying to me.
So I guess I am glad I grew up in a time with shitty internet.

Just the mod scene back in the day was phenomenal. The Specialist might just be my favorite online game and I had as much time in Desert Combat as I did BF Vietnam.

I have a specific memory of trying to download an Austin Powers movie, and then discovering it was actually that fucking live action Scooby Doo movie. I was so mad.
Well, Valve really shit up TF2 with their newest update trying very hard to be Overwatch.
They got rid of Valve servers for matchmaking servers so you can't look for the map you want. And instead of picking the game mode you want to play, you only get 3 'exclusions' of game modes. So if you want to do Payload? Fuck you, you'll have to put something else in your queue as well and pray you get Payload. AND THE MATCHMAKING DOESNT EVEN WORK

The Specialists was my jam. I spent so much time on a Lobby server where I specialised in disarming players and then shooting them with their own hand cannons.
Thinking back I actually miss how I'd generally stick to a single server for every shooter I played where I'd be able to play with a group of people who weren't jackasses. It was nice recognising player specific frags and being able to chat. Now in matchmaking my kills means less and everybody who talks outside of party chat/clients is the worst person in the world.
