I don't think it's that surprising that Dan is becoming a divisive presence. People come to Giant Bomb for different things. If you're into goofy messing around, then he's your man. If you're hoping for a more considered discussion of video games with some silliness thrown in, well, that's not his thing. I'm not saying he's not smart enough or knowledgeable enough about video games to have those conversations, but he tends to be either too passionate or too dismissive of games to take part. But when they're fucking around playing Gang Beasts, he's great. It makes me wish Patrick were still around; the contrast between the two would either be unbearable or fascinating.

I think I like Dan more as a video personality than I do as a games journalist, he's great in GB videos, but I seldom agree with his opinions on games, he just seems ill informed on a lot of stuff pertaining to his job as a games journalist, just my opinion, don't kill me please.

While the staff has an incredible wealth of knowledge of older games, in terms of current games and their mechanics, they are incredibly misinformed. That's the way they are. They can get away with not bothering to actually research games they've covering because they're funny interesting dudes anyway.

There are plenty of videos where at the end someone asks someone else, hey how much is this is and when is it out, and an incredible amount of time, neither one is explained.

He's not that much different from Jeff in this regard. Jeff seems to articulate his opinion more, but he's pretty absolute, it's either all or nothing with a game for him.
