Gah, I remember the email, of course. No idea what episode that was, sadly. Definitely a Jeffcast. Do you happen to remember more from the episode, like a game that was discussed?

I don't. :( I remember being at the gym when I was listening to it. I couldn't stop laughing. I want to say it was within the last 6 months or so.

I've been tandem sky diving in Lompoc.
Everyone should jump out of a plane at some point.
It's thrilling.

Yep. The rush of the free fall followed by the peace and tranquility under the canopy is incredible. I have been twice most recently at Perris, CA 3 weeks back.

Went up in a sky van and about 20 people bailed out at the same time before my tandem. I was driving back to San Diego and almost got in a bad wreck a couple miles outside of Perris in a panic breaking situation and I was all "meh" about it. Car behind me slid out of my lane and passed me with the brakes locked up and ended up 10 feet in front of me across my lane.

Listening to ALT-F1 - I was really surprised that Danny hadn't heard of Franck Montagny. He's a pretty well-known French driver who's raced a bit in F1 as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Surprised by how much that Sealed Grounds battle resembled the actual events that occur there in Skyward Sword. The Imprisoned battle is practically identical - well, a lot less fiddly it looks like, but yeah.

I dunno, it looks like I might be into this.

To be fair neither of them really know much about F1, I enjoy the podcast as it gives me a perspective of what I would see as a really casual fan, is fun. (and occasionally reallllllllllly frustrating :p)

You guys should play Murasaki Baby. If you have a Vita that is. It's pretty unique.

And no, you cannot shake the Murasaki Baby, I checked.

I was surprised by the amount of L-Targeting as well. Seems to add some superficial depth to the game which I might like. Imprisoned didn't do much for me, I really disliked that boss.

Dan dropping truth bombs on Brad and his ilk. Why does Zelda have to be like your big AAA western game du jour? Why can't it just be Zelda?

Unfortunately, ALBW made some incredibly terrible changes to the Zelda formula and the press inexplicably loved them, so I guess the party's over.

I really need to try ALBW and see how the change fares for the series.

This Hatoful Boyfriend Quick Look is already amazing. I've got to get back to watching Danny's playthrough, I only got to the third episode before I realized I'd watched 4 hours of a man playing a pigeon dating game and drank until I forgot how computers work.

ALBW is better than ALTTP. Undeniably.

Haha, naw...

It is very good though. I don't think the changes (the biggest ones I'd assume being the ability to rent/purchase weapons instead of finding them) hurt anything really. The biggest problem is that the dungeon design isn't very clever and the game isn't terribly difficult. Why bother having losing your rented items be a penalty if it never feels like i'm ever going to die?

And I never did die. I bought everything the moment I had the money, had all items for the majority of the game and breezed through it.

But it was still fun and i'll play through it again on hero mode. I was a little bummed after beating it and wondering if there was anything post game to do, and there's really not, and the spoils from the collection missions are pretty terrible/useless.

But yeah, it's still good. It's not LTTP good, but it's good.

Like the comment in the video said, why doesn't this have more views? This is fantastic.

Right? MGS3 is probably my favorite game of all time, and even I gained a new appreciation for it after watching this. His MGS and MGS2 critical videos are great as well.

Also, Hyrule Warriors QL when? Really curious about that game.

I'm not a huge fan of ALTTP, but ALBW is one of the worst games in the series. Is the ability to do the dungeons in any order really all that impressive when the dungeons themselves are complete shit? The difficulty curve is nonexistent. The puzzles never get any harder. Anyone who has played a Zelda before will enter a room and know exactly what to do, so I guess it would function pretty well as an introductory Zelda game.

But then why does it rely so heavily on ALTTP imagery and nostalgia? A newcomer won't appreciate any of that stuff.

What I'm saying is fuck that game. It's New Super Zelda in everything but name. It even has the garish, plastic-looking graphics. It's a lowest common denominator game, and I can't stand it.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

This is pretty harsh, but I don't entirely disagree. Though there are certainly worse games in the series, ALBW was not one of them. Middling in many respects and despite the shift away from a true linear progression, the execution was pretty flawed in that the dungeons were tinny, obvious, and often forgettable. The secrets did not amount to much, nor did the enhanced version of items. The rental system was a cute change, but removed the opportunity for tying exploration for their discovery outside of dungeons, and did not at all go far enough to tackling the longterm criticism of tying a single item to a dungeon(aside from the wall gimmick).

It was a harmless little gem to play over Thanksgiving break last year that lasted under 10 hours that I found little incentive to replay(Hero mode should have been available by default given how mindless the challenge was). The impetus for change was appreciated, but I would never rank it as one of the high points in the franchise either.

The dungeons are fucking amazing though

Never understand why people rate difficulty so highly in Zelda anyway, as long as the puzzles are just taxing enough to keep the cleverness endorphins coming then I'm cool with that (plus ALBW definitely had its fair share of headscratchers). Combat being hard or easy or whatever means nothing to me (though the aggressiveness of overworld enemies is one of the reasons I don't really care about LTTP much in the grand scheme of things).

basically I'm a big dumb baby and ALBW is perfectly moulded to keep me feeling smart and interested and engaged, and the structural changes pretty much give you a shortcut to the good stuff

also both games look like shit, but at least ALBW runs at 60fps in 3D

I mean, if you are going into ALBW thinking it's going to be anything but LTTP2, you're going to be dissapointed. I got lost at one point and was like, "alright, I need the titan mit, where would I get that, where was it in LTTP? Desert, let's try that, oh here it is."

It's almost a companion piece.

Let me guess, you're too young to have played SNES games when they were still sold in store?

YES I AM but I mostly adore the look of SNES games, especially Nintendo and Square's stuff. Mario World, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, all these games look gorgeous still.

ALttP is just the one game that, for whatever reason, I always thought looked a bit dull. The spritework (Aganhim's hat, people) and the colour palette being the main offenders here. Pink hair Link is cool, of course.

When it comes to 2D Zeldas, I really like Minish Cap's look a lot more.

Eh, ALLTP is fine. I see your point, though.

ALBW looks amazing, however. The colours really pop.

I actually mostly like ALBW's look, I just figured that was too controversial to post. That backfired I guess
