MGS is a mix of an ER and Breaking Brad. Dan's expressions are the best when things get tense.

it's weird, he's both overthinking and underthinking the game at the same time. It's like he can't wrap his brain around it at all. MGS2 at least is a bit more modern, with its FPS shooting, but it's even more complicated than MGS1, with its hold up mechanics and more player movement options and longer alerts and stuff.

He really should have done some VR missions before playing. Still, MGS2's give-and-take improvements could work better with him, I think.
At the start of MGS2,
at the Tanker chapter specifically (which I'm assuming Drew will get because there's no reason he will tell the game he didn't play MGS1 in the survey you have to answer at the beginning), don't you only get the stun pistol for the first 30 minutes or so? I felt like that was a pretty smart way to have you experimenting with the AI and learn their behaviour because they wake up pretty quickly from the stun darts. No reason he should just go H with the Famas in that game.

Woah, Hack and Slash looks incredible.
Yeah, it looks really cool. I liked the QL EX (or Unfinished?) they did of the game, and it looks even better now. I just love the concept.
What freaks me out about Hack & Slash is that, as a dude with a background in programming, I can't wrap my head around the idea that you are editing the actual game's variables... Like the dev was saying in the QLEX that there's no magic trick to fake the hacking... The variables you are seeing when you hit an object are the actual real variables used by the game.
I remember the dev saying that for the first time in his life he had to be careful about his variables' name since they are visible to the end user lol.

It is quite impressive how Drew manages to constantly get *so* close on boss attempts.

No Ryan, then no Patrick, then no Vinny and now instead we have Dan, ugh. What a fucking downgrade. Dan also brings out the worst in Jeff and has pushed the one redeeming person of the podcast, Drew further in the background. I made it 5 minutes in this week before I deleted it.
With that, I am done with bombcast. I still enjoy the website, but this podcast has gone from bearable to absolute shit these days with the addition of Dan. It was a really good run though. Cheers, hope the rest of you can continue to enjoy it, but I can't listen to another minute of their disgusting food talk for an hour or Dan try to glorify the life of a complete scumbag simpleton with Jeff playing the enabler. I will probably tune in during E3's though.

Scumbag isnt the word I would use to describe Dan. Scumbag implies a level of dishonesty and untrustworthyness.
He is more of a lovable dumbass.

Please lay off the insulting adjectives for Dan.
Maybe it just speaks to my own midwestern manchild status, but I don't see anything particularly objectionable about the way Dan lives his life. He's done some goofy things, sure, but who hasn't? Dan is an enthusiastic guy who embraces what he loves and dismisses what he hates, he's been working a dream job for some time now and has astonishingly made it through rather un-jaded, unlike Jeff and Brad. The dude knows how to have fun.
I think we could all afford to be little more like Dan.
