When I watched that Playstation TV video, I felt that Jeff genuinely liked P4 with how he described the game to Dan, which was surprising given his general indifference to games like that and anime in general. I have no plans to watch the ER any time soon, but I am very curious to see how he came around liking that game.

Jeff always liked the series and actually bought P4 for himself but didn't have time for it so they did it for the site. But the game ended up being quite beloved by Jeff and Vinny because of the characters. Can't blame them cuz after I finished Golden, i'm now a huge fan of the game and series as well. I'm giving P3 another shot because of it and P4 actually did a better job teaching their gameplay mechanics than P3 did.

Gotta say that during the ER, lots of fun convos happened not only between Vinny and Jeff but there were also eps where Ryan and Dave joined in or made passing comments. It really brought me back to the early GB days. I think it's worth watching for all of that if you don't ever plan on playing the game.

It's unfortunate you weren't following the ER back when it was ongoing, because it was even more incredible following the episodes as they were being released daily back in 2009. The discussions and anticipation for the next episode on a day-to-day basis, was a unique and great experience. A lot of very subtle ER references were peppered throughout a whole bunch of GB content around that time, and ever since.

it probably was pretty fun to follow on a daily basis but i didn't really follow the GB community back then so i would've been just frustrated with the cliffhangers and grindy dungeon parts. i really enjoyed watching it in a marathon. thanks to some Gaffers here, going back to some old QLs for the references has been amusing.

Currently play Borderlands 2 which is a pretty good game and I really wise Destiny had anything close to the amount of content this had.

Sometimes the "Reddit humour" can be a little bit much but I like the light hearted tone overall.

If borderlands 3 copies some of destiny's stuff and adds a online hub for random players to hand out and team up and trade. A raid or two and tones down the "boner fart" jokes a notch I think they will have something really cool.

Yeah, the only reason I prefer Destiny right now is because once you do the storyline, you can do whatever you want and be rewarded for it. With Borderlands if you're not beating the game and getting to the higher difficulty and eventually unlocking the raid bosses/doing the expansion storylines, then you're not really progressing. Destiny subverts that with pretty much just dungeons and small daily quests you can do or bounties and it rewards you for it.

Not to say I hate BL2, I spent hours on it. But..yeah. Fuck that reddit humor.

i didn't beat either BL1 or 2. trying to play some missions solo is a real chore. and yea, the humor in the second game was hit or miss with me. i don't like their world at all.

Yeah. Like, if they took the mission structure of Destiny-Except with all the missions BL2 has to provide, cut down on loading screens that Destiny has, cut down on quest dialogue and how in your face the story is, have maybe a set of dungeon instances, Bl3 could be the best loot shoot game ever.

That sounds good, but I could never bear having to wait a day for the next episode. Binge watching the ER is magic.

Also, just noticed Dan's tag.

Watching Pneuma QL. Nice looking game but holy shit that narrator is annoying as fuck. Talk about bad writing and miscasting in VO. The game mechanic is also pretty stupid. What a waste.

With the narrator it seemed that they tried to go the Stanley Parable style, but well....it's a fucking obnoxious narrator. And the game mechanic seems to be...well yeah, stupid.

I feel like there's this viscous cycle to Monster Hunter where I swear to fuck I don't know how a monster can be beat, then handily beat it after turning the game off for a while.

I mean I haven't even really upgraded my weapons much because of how they spread that out. It's crazy.

Finally finished episode 5 of MGScanlon. Drew fumbling around and losing his shit for 40minutes only to discover he missed one door is everything I love about the series.

...I guess Im one of the few though. Holycrap at all the pissed off people in the comments because Drew is "playing the game wrong". Poor Drew, I bet he regrets ever getting into this.

I don't actually find 4 to be all that hard really, other than one or two monsters.

Yeah, it was a great moment. Like Drew is all like 'I'm going to treat it like a maze, move alongside the left wall!'(He's used this technique before in another QL with Dan, that uh...shitty house with the pig head game), and as he's hyping up this technique he walks into a new room, his and Dan's face are just an amazing payoff. Him finding the stairs leading down, literally walking straight into it, the payoff is magnificent.

I mean, I'm sure Drew feels bad that he's not playing the best he can, but it's great content. And it's something to laugh about later on, he spend...about a total of an hour in that area between the 2 episodes. Drews starting to get and it's literally the simplest solution.

Dunno why people are mad. It was expertly played~

Yeah seriously that moment made me Crack a huge smile. It was great. Drew if youre lurking (get a gaf account) keep playing the way you are. It's kind of the best.

I think Jason said it best when he reminded everyone that this was Metal Gear Scanlon. We're watching to see how Drew plays, not how he should or shouldn't play. To be honest, the same thing happened to me when I first got to the lab 10 years ago. It's an oddly designed building especially for your first play through.

Yeah, I don't understand the complaints fully because I watch this as entertainment. I'm watching Drew play for the first time through the good and the bad. That's the whole ride and I am extremely thankful he puts himself out there for this. I don't care how many times I've personally beaten it or how I played it. I'm not watching for someone to speed run it or do it perfectly. I'm watching to see Drew Scanlon play however that may be.

I can completely understand Drew's frustration at all the micromanagement. What a terrible part of that game.

Criticism of the level of "micromanagement" in MGS3 is and was always overblown. You can get through most of the game without futzing with your camo much, and stamina goes down slowly enough that having to feed only arises once every half hour or so. Having the option to access your backpack to switch in/out weapons and items should be seen as a boon to the series more than a hassle. It beats having to wade through a ton of items in the R2/L2 menus during regular gameplay. Having to cure yourself is probably the most intrusive aspect of the menu-heavy survival system in the game, but it's a feature whose intrusiveness is directly proportional with the player's recklessness. The more careful you are, the less you have to worry about that.

When's the next Powerbombcast coming? I want to hear Jared and Dan talk about season finale of Total Divas, it's legitimately the second best thing that company produces after NXT.

I don't know how I feel about my girlfriend, potential wife, getting jizzed on my multiple dudes. But that's just me?
Retired pornstar

And unless you exclusively date virgins, your potential wife has been 'jizzed on' by multiple guys too.

I'd be infinitely more uncomfortable with strangers discussing my girlfriend on a video game forum than I would be about my girlfriend being a retired pornstar.
