What does it matter to Alex what somebody wants to do with their money

It's kind of like the 'internet' thing of who gives a fuck if someone doesn't like a thing that you like

Why does it matter that Alex thinks that thing is lame as fuck? Even Danny realizes it's dumb. (and yet still preorders)

I don't know if I can watch them for the rest of the conferences... I enjoy their thoughts and opinions, but I couldn't hear the damn conference over them.

I know they adjusted the audio a few times, but it was just too loud for me.

They definitely got in the way sometimes, but I didn't much care about this conference, so not a huge deal. Might skip the talk-over for the rest of the conferences though.

Just catching up with everything because I wussed out and went to bed

Mario Maker looks incredible.
Doom was fine.
Very excited for Dishonored 2, but the cg trailer makes me think it's a way off. Or hopefully they just sold the gameplay reveal to MS or Sony.
Fallout 4 looks intimidatingly huge. I hope that town management stuff is fleshed out.
Fallout Shelter is cool and they revealed it well.
Damn, Todd Howard is such a good presenter.

Officially hyped for E3. That was a really good kick off.

Speaking of Mario Maker, I'm surprised Jeff still doubts that there won't be any of the game specific unique physics associated with all the skins. Watching that NWC made me notice right away how you can spin jump and kick shells directly up in Super Mario World levels, and how you can wall jump and be in a floaty terrible platformer in the New Super Mario Bros U levels. Looks like they got their engines down pat.

Yeah, the guys who made the levels even said as much when they first came out.

Seems like they're making good on everything the game can be. My only concern at this point is how big levels can be without the use of warp pipes. There seemed to be a lot of warp pipes in just about every level they showed.

You know what would be cool?
If you could make levels in Mario Maker that switch automatically between the assets if you reach a certain point. Think of the possibilities.

Could anyone link me to the Giantbomb HD download weblink? They're button for that video is not working.

The download button isn't working because that's not the archive on the site, but their streaming player (when you click on the link it says "loading streaming data"). The archive will probably be up later today!

Also, nearly 90k views on Youtube already. Killing it.

Can't watch Sony this year and they're probably gonna show dang TLG.
Who am I kidding there is no TLG. Right? There can't be a game called The Last Guardian.

I want them to show TLG on the screens, then go "We're proud to present... The Lost Guardsmen! A hilarious new adventure game by telltale."

Every year I hope people will stop talking about TLG as if it's a thing after Sony ignores it at E3 and every year people keep grasping at straws and say "They're just saving it for TGS/next E3/etc."

Once you realise that it's never going to stop, you'll also wish for it to be shown, so we can finally move on from that (and see what Ueda and former Team Ueda have in store for their next project).

still fucking amazed that Jeff had mentioned there should be a Pipboy app halfway into the Bethesda event. he totally called it.

Gerstmann is seriously Nostradamus when it comes to shit like that. I was shocked when they announced the release date and he was wrong.

His nod when they started showing the iphone slipping in to the bracer was hilarious, too.

True, I'd rather have it cancelled though so we don't get any "but look at TLG!" in rhw future whenever a game might be dead.

I feel I'm more accepting of this one since they announced it right after the sequel. It's not like Capcom where it feels like just a void of nothing but remasters.

When Jeff did that, it rubbed me the wrong way. I know he was just don't that as a joke and yes, there is a bit of remaster fatigue. Also I can't imagine having to review and cover HD releases are any fun. However Bethesda seems to be handling this one right in a way most other companies don't.

Sessler's appearance on the Bombcast is one of the handful best episodes they've ever had. Highly recommended if you haven't heard it. Timely around E3 as well.

It bums me out that the Internet just beat the shit out of him so much that he just had to wash his hands of it all. His genuine enthusiasm and eloquence for games is something I very much miss.

I really like Sessler and would love to see him doing something game related regularly again. I watch virtually all of ZD TV Gamespot / Extended Play / Xplay. It was fantastic to see him and Morgan again last night and I hope that can be a thing again. (even though I didn't win anything :( ;) )That said, he really did let us down during his Rev 3 days and deserved most of the flack he got. Going back to what I wrote previous years:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=112104769&highlight=sessler#post112104769

For the record, I did end up buying an Xbox One over a PS4 but that ultimately came down to Microsoft doing a complete reversal as to what the the One was as a platform and how my personal physical disability made the One's controller better for me over a ps4's control and NOT over any coverage the platform received.

I think it was due to Sony having the press review the PS4 at an event?

Looking back at this melt down, I think I get what was going on. Discovery Networks was probably putting a lot of pressure on Adam and the Rev 3 staff to bring up the numbers and without preview hardware, that made his job impossible to do. That's my speculation and if so, I get it.

I love this juxtaposition, it's so adorably quaint.

Gerstmann is damn good at guessing. Like, when FO3 and New Vegas came out, I thought the same thing. 'I should make a cool pipboy copy with a phone slot, then create a super cool program that mimics the look of the pipboy program!'. Those were my childish imaginations(I'm still a child after 7 years). And here you go, Bethesdas doing just that. It really does look cool IMO.

Sessler is the one who had a panic attack and had to have his wife post for him because he didn't get a free PS4, right?

Oh gosh I remember this, he was so pissed off. It was kinda bad in hindsight.

This is why you shouldn't announce games until they're at least playable

people still ask about Agent and the most that game ever got was a logo

As awesome as it is and as skeptical as I was that they would do it, it's not like it was a stretch to imagine. They talked about doing that back in 07/08 for Fallout 3, but couldn't find a way to feasibly do it (since back then, it would've been an actual whole device instead of a case for a more than capable phone.)

I am surprised he was so adamant about it being 2016 though. Bethesda don't usually announce that early, since if it came out 2016, it would assuredly be calendar Q4.

Nope, nothing wrong with them. I'm super excited about the Dishonored remaster.

Honestly a detriment to me for getting into the new generation. Only have one game that interests me on the new generation, yet there are already so many goddamn HD remasters.

It was a little weird seeing how disconnected the guys were from Products like the Elder Scrolls Online and Doom in some ways. They(except Brad) didn't really care, so they were acting like they weren't worthwhile...

Still a great stream and commentary though, but it kind of threw me off some

Well that's your fault, not the remasters'. Remasters don't take away resources from new games being developed. Absolutely nothing wrong with them.

Ah I see. I just wanted to insert a more spoiler friendly link in the Spoiler Free thread.

Regardless of whether it takes away any resources it sure devalues the new generation when it seems like a repeat of the old one.

With all due respect, and as someone who got pretty excited about the Dishonored remaster, I highly doubt that these games don't take away resources from new games being developed.

If they're profitable, which is the whole point, then they add resources. Whether those resources go into a new game or more remasters is up to the company, but not an inherent problem with remasters. Remasters are simply the safest bet in an industry that really needs safe bets. There are only so many games that will yield big profits as remasters though, so it's a little premature to worry about it spinning out of control to the point where there are more remasters than new games.

I disagree. Safe betting is what caused so many remasters to be necessary in the first place in order to pad out publisher's weak release calendars - far too many pubs under-invested in this gen because they were playing it safe and assumed the consoles wouldn't do well.

They ended up selling very well and now everyone's scrambling. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad more people will have a chance to play a great game, but lets not pretend old games being re-released on consoles two years into their lifecycle is a good thing.

Fallout 4 looks so freaking awesome. Fallout 3 is one of my favorites of all time so i'm hyped. I really tried to like Dishonored but I found myself just wanting to play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic whenever I gave it a shot.
