Giant Bomb Endurance Runs: Season Two - Who The Hell Is Zach?

They we're both awesome. People give Brad too much shit. I'm willing to bet the people hating on Brad wouldn't do any better with the game's awkward controls.

For a true comparison, I'm not exactly what you call a skilled gamer, and I beat the game with only 4 continues. Now, admittedly, I probably should have had 5, because I missed that first death by QTE that EVERYONE going in blind seems to fall to. Still, 21 (incomplete) vs. 4 (complete).

That should really tell you it isn't all about controls.

Well I'm going with VJ even though I like Brad the most out of the four guys. Maybe if I REALLY want to waste my time I'll watch them both :lol

If you watch BR, I'd advise that, barring the first encounter with the wall crawlers, to just skip ahead past any fight with them. Generally they last about a half hour and they are extremely boring to watch.

Don't get me wrong here, I get that Brad died more times than Vinny. It's not the fact that he died more that I'm talking about. It's the shit people give him for doing it. Who cares if he dies a lot, I don't need five hundred people pointing it out every time it happens.

It just seams like the way he plays games is to rush though them ASAP where as Vinny likes to be a completionist. You don't see a lot of people getting on Vinny for taking it as slow as possible through every room.

That's why I think both of the ERs were so successful. You get to see two very different takes on playing the same game. Pretty neat if you ask me.

It's still Friday on the west coast for 2 hours. But I do hope it shows up, I need something to watch while I work out and I'm deliberately being lazy about it in hopes it will appear.

Well, part of that's because this is a game about taking it slow. It's pretty much drilled into your head by the game from the beginning. Take it slow, don't rush to your next objective immediately, just stop and observe the town and do side missions while the game lets you.

Not only does it yield the most entertainment in the game (the character interactions and voice acting) but also items and weapons that make the janky-ass combat much more bearable.

The worst coast doesn't count.

I don't know anything about the controls first hand, having not played the game. My point is that if there were thousands of people watching you play a game there would be spots where you didn't do everything perfectly.

I've watched a few of his other vids and Brad is comically bad at games period.

They skipped a week for E3 on Persona 4, and I'm pretty sure they missed a few days while trying to recover an episode that was lost. I might be wrong about that though, I didn't watch it live.

Somebody clarify some of the ending details for me.

What is with the Kaysen doll? Why does it exist? Why is it the final boss's only vulnerability?

Is Deputy Willie evil? He "saves" Emily by attacking Thomas, frees York, but in the end he carries the Kaysen doll in his mouth? Is he just Kaysen's evil henchman?

Is Polly in on it? There is a 50 year old picture with her and Kaysen. Kaysen always stays at her hotel so she must know he doesn't age/is immortal. And for some reason Kaysen doesn't harm her.

That's just a frustrating part of the whole story because none of it is explained. We don't know if Deputy Willie is evil, or even has a higher consciousness than a normal dog would have. We don't even know what Kaysen is, other than non-human. The doll has no explanation other than the main boss needs a weakness.

And yeah, you'd think Polly would figure out something was up when she aged but he didn't but her eye sight is pretty bad so who knows what she sees.

1. There's nothing that really explains where it came from or what it means, but it's all throughout the game, even in the very first scenes with York you can see it. It might be some link between the red room and the real world and something with the York/Zach connection makes it so that the doll is only a vulnerability when attacked by him specifically.

2. I don't think Willie is evil. I'd need to toss the game back in again to recheck but I think I remember him being with Isaac and Isaiah after you beat the game, and was probably just loyal to his master like any other dog. I will say I never really thought about that though, he might've eaten red seeds and be some immortal demon dog I guess.

3. Kaysen doesn't just go around harming everyone, he's just the top of the chain and makes other people do things for him. With the depiction of the girls in the red dresses it was always aiming for Anna, Becky, Carol, Diane, and Emily, even though there's still other girls in the town. Also, Sigourney is close to the same age as her--both seem pretty wacko. It's never actually said why she didn't notice his aging but it could just be countered with she's old and can't tell.

A lot of the story is up to interpretation with the way it ended anyway.

Swery is awesome.
A publisher needs to contact him with a big bag of money and ask him to do a sequel.

Also IGN gave it a 2.0?
Seems like some things never change.

Deadly Premonition is the definition of a system seller. Once you play it, you'll want to go sell your system. That may seem like a harsh statement, but it's been a long time since I've played any boxed retail game on any system that feels this amateurish.
Fire this man.

I saw the Kaysen doll and a symbol of his former, human self. He before he turned all immortal and evil making it his weak spot. Kind of like how Georges old scars were his weak point.

No, Deputy Willie wasn't evil. I never saw him that way, anyway. I think Swery likes Dogs to much to make him evil in the first place.

Who knows about Polly? I think she's just so old and senile she doesn't know whats going on half the time. Kaysen never hurt her because she reminded him of his mother.

I think swery never intended to reveal everything because he wanted people to try and figure it out for them self. In a way, I kind of like it like that.

Also IGN gave it a 2.0?

B-But do you get it? System SELLER!! Instead of a game so good it sells systems, it's so BAD you want to sell your system!! Ha haaaaaa!! What a CLEVER thing to say!!

Seriously, fuck that guy.

If you pick to shoot Kaysen, he reveals that he's from "the Red World," IIRC. He was never human. He never did the whole immortality thing. That doesn't work (after all George did it and he's toast...literally) and was just another way for Kaysen to fuck with people.

He's just some demon or something.

I guess. Hard to say really. I'm sure there is some reason behind it.

Hahaha at the gun glitch during the boss fight.
Glitch? What glitch? Zach is so awesome he can use guns that don't even exist in our dimension.

I like how open the end is. SWERY could easily make a sequel with a new demon guy, a new gimmick/mystery to replace the red seeds/trees, a new town and cast of characters. We still have no idea what the "Red World" is, if there are more Kaysen type dudes out there, and if there are, what their goal is, if they have one. I hope they make another one...

*immediately shoots Kaysen in the fingertips with SMG*

Ryan: Aim for the body.

*it does more damage*

Brad: I wonder if the magnum is better.

*aims for the hands again*

You know, when I heard that the final form of the last boss has a chance to restore all his health, I had a feeling we would get to see it while Brad is playing.

But twice? That was impressive.

Brad's neurotic behavior on the final boss is amazing.

He won't shoot the doll because it's too far away.
He won't get closer to shoot the doll because he's afraid of that attack that's super easy to avoid.
He won't switch the better weapon because it sounds weird.

So, here's what I don't get

Kaysen's apparently some demon alien thing that is spreading red seeds for fun and he does that by using women to sprout them. Zach's mom, George's mom, Emily, etc. That's not unreasonable for a horror game, but...

What was the point of the whole George/Raincoat Killer murder plot then? He hulked out with the Red Seeds and the murders clearly didn't make him invincible. Kaysen could have used any of the girls for the tree but instead he spends a few weeks just fucking around and having George kill girls because ????

Kaysen was just fucking with George. He gave him the locket to see what would happen. It led to him killing the girls, which Kaysen thought was hilarious.

Imagine him as something like a malicious trickster god. He thinks misery and death is really funny, so he creates situations that will likely result in blood.

So the vast majority of the story is actually pretty pointless.

Pointless? You stopped the new Raincoat Killer from terrorizing Greenvale with his magic powers.

That's not pointless at all.

But you didn't really stop anything

You killed a guy who thought he was invincible but wasn't actually

All the people who were going to die died anyway

Eventually someone was going to notice that the city of 27 people has been reduced to basically nothing and go kill the dude that thinks he's a God

ShockingAlberto said:

How is stopping George pointless? He was actually killing all those people. The whole story about immortality, while being full of shit, explained what George actually believed and explained why he did what he did.

There's a difference between what's true and what people BELIEVE is true. And since people act on what they believe, even the lies are important.

Just because his reign of terror was started because Kaysen was playing a joke doesn't make things pointless.

Yes, someone did notice something was going on: Zach did. He's the one who stopped George before he could kill again (and he was going to kill again, he says as much to York in the fight).

there were a bunch of more people in town that george would probably kill

also, he's a bad guy so york/zach was the Only One Who Could Possibly Defeat Him

Saying DP is pointless is like saying SH2 is pointless. If James had never gone to Silent Hill, everyone who died would still have died and nothing would have changed.

It's about working out your own issues. DP is about Zach finally facing his past and breaking free, letting go of his coping mechanism/mask.

Hey guys, I dont want to watch all of this endurance run, but the few I watch are pretty funny.

Can anyone tell me which part is the absolute fucking funniest though?
