I have the following problems with ME2:
- The "anyone can die" thing was fucking dumb. It was dumb as fuck. It might be cool for a standalone game, but as a middle chapter? You basically just admitted none of those characters matter in the third game - and, yo, they didn't.
- Being on Xbox 360 forced compromises onto that game due to disc space. Because of the way the multiple discs were broken down, you had to take a more linear path through the game rather than be able to circle back around to some stuff. There's recorded, but unused, dialogue for Garrus and Legion in the first mission of the game, for example. Obviously you couldn't cut the 360 version out, but man, the last thing that game needed was more linearity.
- Going to ammo was, in-universe, really dumb and, gameplay-wise, totally unnecessary. You never fucking run out, anyway.
- Their solution for surprise attacks was to have waist-high cover just pop in from the ground all the time. Really, you had no better or more graceful solutions for this? Someone pitched this at a meeting and you all just nodded your heads like this wasn't a dumb idea?
- I couldn't tell if Miranda was because someone on staff was jacking off hard to Yvonne Strahovski or someone above them assumed gamers would. I am going to assume the former because it's the only way to explain whatshername, the reporter, in ME3. Like, literally the only way.
- I really, really loved the Vigil moment in ME1 and ME2 didn't have that.
- Human Reaper was fucking dumb and I hated it.
That said, ME2 was really good and I liked it a lot.
