Hearts of a Stone, released in 2015, is still probably the best story of 2016. SOMA last year sure set the bar high for Best Story, I loved this years games but there wasn't much in the way of good stories.
Man, I gotta give credit to Dan during this GOTY discussion:
Him bringing up dropping UC4 might be the best argument of the podcast so far. It 100% makes more sense to have three games that individual members of the crew are passionate about than having one game that everyone feels good about.
Alex turned into a brad this year.
Has Alex's game of the year list not been posted yet?
To be the man you got to beat the manAlex turned into a brad this year.
That was terrible. I'm glad Jason showed his love for Zarya in the discussion. I'm sad that my girl D.VA didn't make it.Said screw it and listened to the Best Overwatch Character part of Day 5 even though I' behind. Couldn't help myself.
Jeff going to bat for Mei made me oh so happy but Dan has the worst fucking opinion there. He's the guy who plays only Offense heroes and he doesn't like Zarya? Dude, you talk up Soldier and Reapers Ults yet you don't like the character who sets both of the up perfectly? UUUUUGGGGHH.
Why does Jeff insist that Doom's multiplayer detracts from the game as a whole when just last year he said that Mario Maker's dogshit curation features didn't matter to the game itself?
It's what happens with games-as-a-service.
People invest hundreds of hours into a game because they love it, sure, but also because they want their time to be validated.
also overwatch fucking sucks
I am 100% with you. That was one of the more satisfying moments of the last few years of GOTY discussion for me.
Honestly this years GOTY discussion was so sedate compared to past years that when Jeff saidSurprised at the game of the year discussion, although in hindsight I guess I shouldn't have been.I'm glad they started arguing for HItman as number one rather than argue why Doom isn't number 1
This year felt a lot more peaceful as GOTY arguments go. I didn't feel like anyone really got destroyed like in past years in the big arguments.
Zarya and D.Va needed more love. Also, Dan's inability to understand Zenyatta baffled me. He clearly doesn't play healer and argues his choices because they're fun to play and not because their personalities but doesn't think [insert here] is fun to play when he probably didn't give them much of a chance to begin with. He's totally that guy on your team. That was terrible. I'm glad Jason showed his love for Zarya in the discussion. I'm sad that my girl D.VA didn't make it.

I'm assuming that Winston was robbed.
1. DOOM
2. Hitman
3. Overwatch
4. Titanfall 2
5. The Witness
6. Stardew Valley
7. Superhot
8. Inside
9. Uncharted 4
10. Gears of War 4
I find it amazing that no one truly challenged Dan on Stardew Valley.
As a lifelong Harvest Moon fan who loves everything about that genre... SV is the ultimate "me-too" game in the genre. Literally everything people are praising about the game has already been done before, and better. It just blows my my mind.
as Biggest Surprise doesn't make any sense anymore after the overall GOTY.Doom

What do you mean? It makes perfect sense.never went to the terrible depths ofHitman as a seriesand is therefore more of a surprise.Doom 3 and the E3 showing of Doom, as well as Carmack leaving
Did they? I can't see it on the site.Oh shit, they did a Rock Band thingy? I've been wanting them to do that for years.
