Giant Bomb |OT32| I've been meaning to love a boat

Also you're supporting a scab game

Yeah that's kinda why I'm not immediately playing this despite the praise.

I can't say I'm super worked up about it because of the somewhat awkward situation around it (voice actor on strike supporting the game otherwise; devs aren't being striked, just who they outsource the recording to) but I am uncomfortable enough that it's hard to justify going for it.

What would you call it?
"Walking simulator? "

TellTale-like

Which is exactly as terrible sounding as it needs to be

Huh? What impressions did you read? The first town in DOS is by far the best part of the game to the point where one of the main criticisms with the game is how nothing past that lived up to it.

Maybe that's referring to the early game being brutally difficult

"Captain Toad should've been $3 on the iPhone."

Maybe not THAT low, but it occupies the same space as a Lara Croft Go/Hitman Go. Which those go for 9.99. While checking, they're both apparently now .99 cents. For captain toad, 12-15, MAYBE, would have been easier to swallow? The production value on captain toad is quite high, so I can give it a pass for the 40 dollars..it's still pretty steep, though.

Would you bother driving fifteen minutes to a grocery store to return something that's a month past the best by date for $3.50? I'm thinking I should just out of principal.

Slightly off-topic but can anybody recommend me a good music player on Android that has built-in podcast functionality? I'm getting to the point where I really don't want to have more than one music app on my phone.

It's a real shame, because the first was really good. I feel like they took the wrong approach with expanding the series by making a prequel. I wonder if they were afraid of launching a new cast/story, which I thought was how they were going to grow the series. From what I've seen, the new LiS relies too much on people loving the characters of LiS, and only that. Perhaps at the expense of a new story, I'd say.

I'm a broken record, but the opening really is a bad representation of the rest of it. If you liked the original, you will definitely like BTS. It focuses on all the best parts of the original: the characters, relationships, atmosphere, and slice-of-life story. This first episode was better than any individual episode from season 1, barring maaaaybe episode 3. People who hated the original won't have their minds changed, but if you liked it, you should really check it out. They do such an incredible job characterizing Chloe, through the dialogue, her internal monologues, and the journal, I was super impressed.

Your time and gas money is worth more than this. Some grocery clerk forgot to rotate or check codes, hardly much of a principle to worry about.

I can't just play my own music with Spotify tho right?
I don't listen to a lot of music so a subscription doesn't make sense for me.

You can play your own music via adding them on PC to a playlist called "local files", but I'm seeing it now that you need Premium to sync to your phone. Sorry!

Playing local files is Spotify's one huge drawback, it's a pain in the ass to manage. Google Music integrating your own library with streaming stuff is intriguing as hell, but I just can't give up Spotify features like Discover Weekly, Daily Mixes, etc.

Yeah, I've kind of got the opposite problem where I'd move to Spotify in a heartbeat, but I can't give up Google's uploads.

Though I keep reading Spotify's library and thumbs up playlist has a size limit, which sounds useless

It's good of YouTube to defend those poor, persecuted nazis and delete all the videos of people bullying a man walking around with a swastika armband who was just minding his own business while wearing a swastika armband and being a nazi.

I did enjoy the first episode, but I think the main thing that has me a little worried about Before the Storm going forward (and hopefully this will wind up being unfounded by the end) is that we don't really have an idea of what its main narrative arc is going to be, which is kind of surprising with only two episodes remaining. I guess I'm not entirely against the idea of simply spending some slice-of-lifey time with these characters getting to know each other, but I really hope it's going to have its own story to tell, something that amounts to more than tragedy based on the audience's knowledge of
Rachel and Chloe's fates
. Which I guess is the standard issue with prequels. (Edit: And to be clear, by 'narrative' I'm not taking about supernatural shit or lives being in danger, I'm actively hoping it keeps that kind of thing to a minimum. I just want some character arcs that we're not already aware of.)

For what it's worth, I've always been kind of mixed on Fire Walk With Me for similar reasons, though that was anchored by awesome directing and that fantastic frigging performance.

It's interesting to see the series handled by another team. The dialogue is improved (though the original got more shit than it deserved) and the character&facial animation is roughly 500 times better than before, but I do think it lacks the indescribable feel that made the original special to me, some kind of nostalgic melancholy drifting through the spaces between other moments.

Are they really?

I still got that in spades, personally. I wasn't too bothered by the lack of an A-plot - I actually found it very refreshing. The plot is kind of what sunk the original imo. Well, not sunk, but it's certainly the weakest aspect. But I imagine the ending events of episode 1 will provide some structure and momentum to the rest of it. We'll see. I am of two minds also about the tragedy porn that is kind of inevitable about this prequel. On the one hand, yay more Chloe and yay Rachel! On the other hand, I am sick of Bury Your Gays and kind of hate the ending choice of LiS. I hope they manage to tie this up in a way that is at least not relentlessly sad like the original was.

He tweeted some things around the time that (genocide-advocate) Richard Spencer got punched during a protest. It just seemed kind of.. naive.

Danny thinks we should talk it out with nazis and not punch them.

Pretty much. After Spencer got punched for being a nazi shithead, Danny tweeted to the effect of saying 'Violence isn't good with people you disagree with'.

But it makes sense, he's friends with Boogie, the ultimate 'WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO MEET IN THE MIDDLE'.

Boogie sure doesn't think we should meet in the middle when it comes to people insulting fat people.

He's the worst kind of moderate in that he doesn't give a shit unless it personally affects him. He's white, he thinks we need to have dialogue with Nazis. He's a big dude, he thinks fat shamers are disgusting.

I mean, has he said anything else about punching nazis since the inaugration? I’ve seen a good amount of people come to the light side in past couple of months on that topic.

Not that I've seen. I just worry that with today's punching, he might say the wrong thing.

The idea "We should solve problems with talking not violence" is a nice dream, but I think it's infinitely.... optimistic to think someone that has posited genocide in the past (or is actively wearing a Nazi armband) is someone that can be swayed by words.

Regarding Danny and Colin, apparently Colin was super helpful to Danny starting a patreon, which is fine.

wouldn't it be great guys if we were able to meet in the middle with people who's entire idea is to end a subset of people?

gee willikers that would be swell! one can dream

Watching Exquisite Corps and my mind is screaming "do a dash attack through the enemies!"

Mario + Rabbids has wormed its way into my brain

I don't think the games ever tell you this, but dashing actually confers an aim penalty/defense bonus to Overwatch shots. Normally one would do this to eat up Overwatch shots, in an attempt to protect someone pinned down.

I really hope it does the FWWM thing, personally. There's a sad conclusion you know is going to be reached, and that sort of dread can just make everything around it all the more powerful.

LiS has nothing on the level of Sheryl Lee, though, so that's not going to quite happen that way.

I don't normally condone violence, but that buck stops when you start advocating for genocide. There is no middle. There's right and wrong. Still surprised at Boogie wanting to meet hate groups "in the middle" to share ideas.

Damnit, didn't know any of that. Boogie along with TB are worse than PDP in some ways.

Danny also associates with TB - went on his podcast a couple times and they tweet to each other. That and his "moderate" tweets (while never speaking out about TB's harassment/riling his fan-base against someone who receives regular death threats) really soured me on Danny.

I get it if some people just aren't comfortable talking about these things publicly at all, like Drew, but even then he politely cancelled an appearance on TB's podcast to promote Clothmap
