Giantbomb GOTY video's podcast and other crazy mayhem is about to start.
Here is the official GAF thread about it.

Here is what is going to happen:
Every day their is going to be video's and podcast going up on http://wwww.giantbomb.com and at the end of the week we all have heard what the crew of GB thinks about 2011 and the games that have been released in that year.
You can see the schedule on the front page of GB and it seems that pieces go up around 09:00 AM PST.

It'll be Skyrim. Bastion will probably get 360 exclusive, unless it doesn't count because of the PC version, if so Gears 3. I imagine Uncharted 3 will win best PS3 exclusive.

It won't be a very interesting year in terms of winners I imagine.

It probably will be something awesome like that. They do good unique categories, it's what I love most about their GOTY stuff.

I feel like this year my opinion on the best games of the year don't match up with theirs at all. Nothing in my top 5 really stands a chance, aside maybe Portal 2. But deep down it's only Ryan who would champion that and I think he likes other games this year more. I don't even know where I'd place Skyrim yet, I'm not sure it would break the top 5.

Not that I want them to pick the games I'd pick, because the personal aspect of it is what's so great, but usually I agree with their GOTY picks a lot more than I will this year I think.

The year end deliberations over at GB are quite possibly my most anticipated moment of the entire year, perhaps only bested by E3.

The mayhem that ensued while trying to find 2009's GOTY was audible perfection. I listened to that podcast at least 20 times to date, so here's hoping this year is just as good, though I doubt it since nothing seems to be challenging Skyrim

Hell, I'll be happy if someone at least mentions Ghost Trick.

So, if they ARE doing a bunch of podcasts, the podcast needs to be up before the video recap, right?

I'm starting to suspect that they did one podcast for the actual game of the year, and platform-specific awards, but nothing for all the other "best character, best debut, best dlc" stuff. Like 2009.

That's definitely MY Handheld Game of the Year, but I don't know if anyone at GB will fight for it.

Those I kind of get, though.

The PS3, for a lot if people with multiple consoles, especially those in editorial gaming, is pretty much used primarily for its exclusives. Same goes for the Wii with its first party titles. Handhelds on the other hand always get the short end of the stick no matter how good its games are.

Funny enough, there was even an email from last week's show pertaining to the same topic; asking why a game like Ghost Trick couldn't be paired with this years best and is only relegated to stay on the "Handheld" list. Even Jeff recognized it as being a "really awesome game", but highly doubt it'd get on his top 10 list.

It's not just GB, either. Most, if not all, publications are guilty of this.
