Luckily she was born in the US with loving parents. If she had been born in the Netherlands, they would have euthanised her shortly after she was born. Undesirable traits and what not. In the world of Dutch infant euthanasia and Peter Singer, she might not be alive today, at about age 2.

That is so awful.

IMO, people are not animals that you can just terminate because they don't look right. So what, because her face is malformed, she doesn't deserve to live? Why not euthanise babies born missing a leg or an arm or a finger--that way, it won't make anyone else uncomfortable to look at them and they won't have to experience the difficulties of being different.

This disease has severely affected her face, but that little girl has a normal functioning brain. Even if she didn't, I wouldn't condone killing her because I had decided life would be too hard for her. No one knows what the future may hold.

IMO, they're doing a child a disservice by not giving her a route to a painless exit from this life. Were you her, would you want to leave the house? I could be wrong, though. Perhaps it's a matter of socialization and our acclimation within a collective identity, where, conversely, she will not be aware of how she is projected relative to that collective identity. Maybe she can live a happy life, provided she doesn't become aware of how she looks.

Well, the doctors said they could make her look alright again, yes? Why the hell not pay for the surgeries so she can lead a happy life? That and the fact that there is nothing critically wrong with the girl. She's not brain-dead, lungless, or heartless. She's just ugly- that doesn't hinder life. Look at some of our most brilliant scientists, some of the best writers- they're not exactly the beautiful people.

You've based a happy, productive life on the assumption that all people will be models, actors, people in the limelight 24/7. That is the inherent flaw in your argument, sir.
