Luckily she was born in the US with loving parents. If she had been born in the Netherlands, they would have euthanised her shortly after she was born. Undesirable traits and what not. In the world of Dutch infant euthanasia and Peter Singer, she might not be alive today, at about age 2.
That is so awful.
IMO, people are not animals that you can just terminate because they don't look right. So what, because her face is malformed, she doesn't deserve to live? Why not euthanise babies born missing a leg or an arm or a finger--that way, it won't make anyone else uncomfortable to look at them and they won't have to experience the difficulties of being different.
This disease has severely affected her face, but that little girl has a normal functioning brain. Even if she didn't, I wouldn't condone killing her because I had decided life would be too hard for her. No one knows what the future may hold.
