Best scene of the season so far, except for when Sue was raging around trashing the school.

Really? Well, that might be something.

I think so. In any case, I think that Season 2 would be too early for even a partial cast change, so I could see the group losing Nationals. I wouldn't mind that, so long as we wouldn't have to sit through another "road to Regionals".

I like "Get It Right" and while I hate "Loser Like Me" the performance was ok. That stagewear, however, was made by the devil. Seriously, they always dress awful for the competitions.

Season 1 Regionals begs to differ

I really enjoyed this week's (the original songs that weren't performed onstage were probably the highlights, especially Trouty Mouth), but yeah, the Kurt/Blaine kiss felt way too abrupt, although both Colfer and Criss did a good job with it. It should at least have been built up to over the course of the episode.

And while I'm glad that Kurt and Blaine are now a couple, I wonder how they'll be written as such; Silly Love Songs did a lot to make Blaine an intriguingly flawed character, but both this week's and last week's episodes have discouragingly more or less reverted him to his previous, saintly Prince Charming persona.

Finally, now that the Warblers are out of competition, there's no longer anything substantive tying Dalton either to the rest of the show's main cast or to the season's overarching storyline - Kurt being Finn's stepbrother and Rachel and Mercedes' friend isn't nearly enough to make regular appearances from this point on seem anything but shoehorned in, as long as the current status quo is in place. I assume that one of the next couple episodes will definitively resolve the Karofsky storyline, after (or before?) which Kurt will somehow transfer back to McKinley. No idea what'll happen to Blaine after that, though.

I would do anything to be with a guy like Blaine. He has the most perfect stare I've ever seen on a guy.

that's the blank stare of a person with no personality.

BOOM.
Gosh I hate Blaine.

I really hate how all the Warblers songs are basically Blaine and a backing band, it felt good when Kurt addressed that.

First three songs sucked, Trouty Mouth and Big Ass Heart made up for that though.

Pretty bland episode though if I'm honest.

That was truly attrocious. Blaine's enlightened love for Kurt was the most embarrassing thing I've seen on the show this year. And Darren Criss' attempt at emoting? LOOOOL

I did howerver lose it at @troutymouth. Oh Santana. <3

The problem with Blaine isn't Criss, IMO; it's just the material he's being given to work with. The writers have had plenty of chances before this week to make him more than just a fantasy wish fulfillment figure for Kurt, and they largely blew it.

Hated this episode. Trouty Mouth was great but all most of the original songs were completely awful (Loser Like Me is one of the worst things I've heard on the show), please don't do any more of them.

They brought in people to write Loser like Me which I feel was a mistake as it was pretty bland. The far superior songs in rehearsals which were intended to be bad were presumably written by the show's writers.

I generally liked the episode but there was too much Kurt and not enough Santana.

In a weird twist of fate, our DVR didn't record both of the episodes that Gwyneth has been on. Is it worth Huluing the one from last week?

Yep, the general opinion is that last week was very enjoyable, despite the beginning. ^_^

I actually was pleasantly surprised by both performed originals although I hope it remains a one off since it goes against the show's natural appeal.

I think it's pretty likely that there will be more as these songs will sell buttloads on Itunes.

Same here. They were actually pretty great. "Get you back when I'm your boss" is kind of epically perfect pop lyricism.

Screw all of you, Hell to the No was the best song performed last night lol

Agreed, I hope it ends up on the album. If not, well then....hell to the no!

I loved both Get It Right and Loser Like Me, but I did go in with extremely low expectations of their original songs.

Well, Hell to the No is up on iTunes, along with the two they sang at Regionals. None of the other original songs though.

we need to protest to get Trouty Mouth up there and find out if there is a version 2 also.

He is severely lacking in the personality department, though. If they had cast a less appealing actor than Criss, I'd probably hate the character too.
I dunno, I don't have a huge issue with him. It's not like the show is any good at breaking free from stereotypical personalities. Aside from Sue, every character in the show is a walking cliche that do little to actually break from it.

That plus they don't have to pay royalties or anything since they own the songs themselves.

Also I agree with others; Hell to the No was the best song of the night, Trouty Mouth coming in a close second.

They're at least flawed cliches, though. Except in two episodes (Silly Love Songs and Blame It On the Alcohol), Blaine has been written as having no discernible character flaws to speak of.

Part of the problem is that his only role on the show is as part of Kurt's storyline. Once the writers come up with some contrived reason for him to transfer to McKinley (c'mon, it'll probably happen), he'll be able to interact with the regular cast on a weekly basis and there'll be a lot more that can be done with him.

This show fluctuates so wildly from good to bad, often within the same episode, that i honestly don't know what to think anymore. There were quite a few funny moments in this one - Trouty Mouth being a standout -, but all its attempts at emotion fell flat and the competition scenes felt like a lazy rehash of last season's finale, with no real attempt to put a new twist on it.

Sue still makes me lol, but they obviously have no fucking idea what to do with her. I was getting serious deja-vu to the last time she was in the Regionals audience having the exact same reactions. I'm still pissed they squandered the plotline of Sue co-chairing the glee club within a single episode.

I was SHOCKED when Mercedes got a number to sing. I thought the writers had forgotten she even existed.

I found Blaine and Kurt cute for once, even though Blaine's sudden realization he was in love with Kurt made me eyeroll and laugh simultaneously. Darren Criss is so goddamn dreamy that he *almost* makes up for the characters complete lack of personality and the fact that he has to share so much screen-time opposite Kurt.

I know asking a plot clarification question kinda misses the whole point of watching glee, but did they ever touch on why Vocal Adrenaline wasn't a part of regionals? Seems like payback is a natural storyline to pursue - also weren't they setting up that Charice girl as a Vocal Adrenaline rival in the first ep this season?

They won last year so I think they got an automatic pass to nationals this year

Or they were in a different bracket this time

Well I am looking forward to that, but regardless I don't have a problem with him. Blaine is one of the few characters that doesn't bug me on some incredibly large level. He's normal, kinda plain, swoon-worthy and charming. Everyone else has character flaws that make them terrible, aside from Santana or Brittany who are just plain funny.

They are trying so hard to ruin Sue as a character. And largely succeeding.

Not even Jane Lynch can salvage her at this point. It's just pathetic.

I'm not sure what Sue is doing in McKinley High anymore. If she's not the cheerleading coach, is she still the principal? And can you go from being the cheerleading coach to the principal? And shouldn't you be removed from your position at ANY school if you hit children and punch senators' wives in the mouth?

All right. Brain goes off now.

This is exactly what happened with Popular, by the way. By the end, it was just anything goes...

She quit as the principal (and Figgins came back) because she thought she couldn't effectively deal with the students (the Kurt v Karofsky thing).

She did not sleep with Figgins did she, I always thought she drugged him and then took pictures to blackmail him.
he wouldn't know if he did or not. hopefully sue can keep doing that. but at this point she's no longer needed for the season.

Bad writing and refusal to leave a popular character behind.

So true. At least Popular didn't ever take itself as seriously as Glee does and was actually funny most of the time.

How long do you think they will keep Kurt's prep school plot line going? I'm kind of bored with it and wish he was with the main cast again.
